Abstract

This community service is motivated by the problems experienced by the partners. The partner of this community service is SMP Negeri 1 Jombang. The problems in question are: (1) Students have difficulty understanding statics material, especially in finding the mean, mode, median and quartile of single data. (2) Statistics board learning media (PATIA) has never been applied to statistics material, especially to find the mean, mode, median and quartile of single data. Therefore, the solution that will be implemented by the community service team as a form of community service is to apply PATIA learning media as an effort to strengthen conceptual understanding of statistics material, especially to find the mean, mode, median and quartile of single data for class VIII students at SMP Negeri 1 Jombang. Learning media is a learning media used to convey information related to statistics material, especially to find the mean, mode, median and quartile of single data. PATIA learning media is expected to help make it easier for students to abstract and understand statistics material. The implementation method involves three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The results of this community service are that the PATIA learning media can strengthen conceptual understanding of statistics materials, especially in finding the mean, mode, median, and quartiles of single data. This community service activity has a positive impact on teachers and students through the use of PATIA learning media in the classroom. Teachers' skills in implementing PATIA learning media and student learning motivation have increased, and this community service activity helps teachers deliver material in a practical and easy-to-understand manner.

Abstract

The performance evaluation of honorary instructors at BBPVP Medan is often subjective and lacks a measurable assessment system. This activity aims to design a decision support system to objectively evaluate instructor performance using the Weighted Product (WP) method. The evaluation criteria include attendance (40%), work discipline (35%), and teamwork (25%). Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving ten honorary instructors. The WP calculation results show that the instructor named Darmanto Koemardy achieved the highest score (0.189) and is recommended for contract extension. The application of the WP method improves the objectivity and efficiency of performance evaluations for instructors at BBPVP Medan.

Abstract

Flooding is a recurring hydrometeorological problem in low-lying areas such as Sedati District, Sidoarjo, where clogged neighborhood drainage systems often serve as the primary cause of water stagnation. Limited community awareness and participation in routine drainage maintenance further exacerbate this condition. This community service program aims to improve residents’ understanding and skills in maintaining local drainage systems through participatory outreach, while also fostering collective action and community-based flood prevention efforts. The implementation consisted of three stages: (1) Preparation, including field observations and coordination with neighborhood leaders; (2) Implementation, involving interactive outreach through contextual material delivery, discussions, and hands-on demonstrations; and (3) Evaluation, conducted through question-and-answer sessions and feedback questionnaires. The activity, held in RW 02 of Sedatigede Village and attended by 35 residents, resulted in a significant increase in participants’ knowledge of drainage-related issues and maintenance techniques. Furthermore, residents established concrete commitments, including an agreed-upon schedule for routine community clean-ups and the appointment of a drainage monitoring coordinator. Participant feedback indicated 100% satisfaction and expressed strong expectations for program continuity. The findings suggest that participatory outreach is effective in strengthening community capacity and self-reliance in managing local drainage systems. For sustainability, continued mentoring, integration of the program into routine neighborhood agendas, and support from village authorities are recommended.

Abstract

Woodcraft micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) face relatively high occupational risks due to the intensive use of machinery, sharp tools, and continuous exposure to wood dust and noise. Limited knowledge and weak implementation of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) principles remain key factors contributing to the elevated risk of workplace accidents. This community service program aimed to improve knowledge, risk awareness, and safe work behavior among woodcraft workers in Mojowarno District, Jombang Regency. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach using field observation, semi-structured interviews, pre-test and post-test, and activity documentation. The training was conducted on 17–20 September 2025 and involved ten woodcraft workers. The results indicated an improvement in participants’ understanding of the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), the application of safe work procedures, and better organization of the work environment.

Abstract

Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers are vulnerable groups experiencing significant psychosocial stress in post-disaster situations. The Semeru eruption disrupted social, emotional, and health service access, affecting maternal and infant well-being. Objective: This community service aimed to improve psychosocial well-being of pregnant and breastfeeding mothers through strengthening family support using the Mother Support Group (MSG) approach. Methods: The program was conducted in Supiturang Village, Pronojiwo District, Lumajang Regency, involving six participants (pregnant mothers, breastfeeding mothers, and family members). Activities included sharing discussions, emotion card facilitation, family psychosocial education, and non-pharmacological relaxation techniques. Results: The MSG program enhanced emotional communication, reduced anxiety, and increased feelings of calmness and happiness among participants. Families demonstrated improved understanding and active involvement as key support systems. Conclusion: The Mother Support Group is an effective community-based intervention model to strengthen family psychosocial support for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers in disaster-affected areas.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology requires society to possess adequate digital literacy and skills in order to use technology safely, ethically, and responsibly. However, various challenges are still faced by the community, including low awareness of social media ethics, personal data security, and risks in digital transactions. This community service activity aims to improve community digital literacy through the implementation of the Cakap Digital Program. The method of implementation was carried out through digital literacy socialization and educational activities using a participatory approach, including material delivery, interactive discussions, and question-and-answer sessions. The materials presented covered social media ethics, account and personal data security, safe online transactions, and an introduction to the development of artificial intelligence technology. The results of the activity indicate an improvement in participants’ understanding and awareness of the importance of using digital technology wisely and responsibly. Participants became more aware of digital risks and challenges and were able to apply digital literacy principles in their daily activities. This community service activity demonstrates that the Cakap Digital Program is effective in supporting the improvement of community digital literacy and digital competence.

Abstract

Public awareness of maintaining body fluid balance has largely focused on preventing dehydration, while the dangers of overhydration are often overlooked. This condition can lead to hyponatremia, which poses serious neurological risks and may result in death. The issue oflow health literacy regarding overhydration prompted the implementation of a mosque-based community service program as a center for health education. This activity aimed to enhance the knowledge and awareness of mosque communities about the dangers of excessive water consumption and to encourage more mindful drinking behavior. The solution was implemented through a participatory approach, consisting of interactive health counseling, group discussions, distribution of educational media (leaflets, posters, videos), and digital campaigns led by mosque youth. Program effectiveness was evaluated using pre-test and post-test and qualitative observations of community responses. The results showed a 75% increase in average knowledge scores and a significant behavioral change, with 70% of participants adjusting their water consumption according to body needs. Additionally, a community group called “Healthy Mosque Friends” was established as a sustainability effort. This program contributed to strengthening the mosque’s role as a center for community-based health promotion that is communicative, religiously grounded, and sustainable. Thus, this health education campaign not only improved public health literacy about overhydration but also fostered a collective awareness of maintaining fluid balance as part of both spiritual and social responsibility.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has created new opportunities in education, particularly in accessing scholarships which are now predominantly online-based. Nevertheless, limited digital literacy remains a critical challenge among students in Islamic boarding schools (santri). This community service program aims to optimize the digital literacy of final-year students at MA Madrasatul Qur’an Tebuireng Jombang in accessing various scholarship opportunities. The study applied a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, actively involving students and teachers in every stage of the program. Activities included needs assessment, digital skills training, structured mentoring, evaluation, and collective reflection. Findings revealed significant improvements in students’ basic digital competencies, particularly in email usage, online scholarship registration, and digital document preparation. Based on pre-test and post-test results, average skills improved by 47%. Beyond technical capacity, students developed greater self-confidence in exploring higher education opportunities and building networks with scholarship providers. Teachers, meanwhile, transformed their roles into digital literacy facilitators, reinforcing collaborative learning culture within the pesantren. This program not only benefited individuals but also established a replicable model of best practices for other Islamic boarding schools. Therefore, optimizing digital literacy through participatory approaches proves to be an effective strategy to bridge the digital divide and promote equitable access to education. The sustainability of the program is expected to be ensured through the establishment of a digital scholarship information center, the development of digital literacy volunteers, and the expansion of institutional partnerships.

Abstract

The digital era has made artificial intelligence (AI) technology an increasingly important tool in various fields, including education. For high school (SMA) teachers, AI offers great opportunities to improve teaching effectiveness, reduce administrative workload, and create more personal and innovative learning experiences. This Community Service Activity (PKM) is motivated by the lack of teacher competence in creating AI-based learning media. This problem is caused by teachers only having basic skills in using AI, and the majority of teachers experiencing this difficulty are senior teachers born in the 1960s. The objective of this activity is to improve teachers' competence in using AI technology to create teaching materials to support the learning process. The activity is carried out with a combination of lecture and practice methods. The contribution of this activity lies in empowering teachers to independently produce digital teaching media. The evaluation results show that 95% of participants successfully created at least one digital teaching media, 75% of teachers were able to create two or more different designs. These evaluation results indicate that this community service activity is effective in improving the competence of teachers at SMA Negeri 5 Medan.

Abstract

The rapid development of information technology, particularly artificial intelligence (AI), requires teachers to integrate digital tools into the learning process. However, many teachers still face difficulties in creating engaging, systematic, and communicative presentation media due to limited time, insufficient design skills, and high administrative workloads. This problem was also found among teachers at SMA Negeri 5 Medan, who mostly relied on conventional presentation media. As a solution, this community service activity was conducted through training on the utilization of the Gamma Application, an AI-based platform that enables automatic presentation creation using text-based commands. A total of 30 teachers participated in this activity. The methods applied included workshops, hands-on practice, and interactive discussion sessions. Teachers were guided from the introduction of Gamma’s features to content development and the production of ready-to-use presentation slides. This activity aimed to improve teachers’ digital competence and support the development of more innovative, attractive, and effective learning media. Its main contribution lies in enhancing teachers’ skills in using AI-based technology and strengthening digital-based learning practices in schools. The results showed that all participants were able to operate the Gamma Application and produce more visually appealing, well-structured, and communicative learning presentations. Furthermore, teachers’ understanding of the role of technology in supporting the learning process significantly improved. Therefore, this activity had a positive impact on the quality of instructional media and teachers’ insights into the use of digital technology.
