This journal aims to publish original research articles on Islam and Muslims, especially Islamic thoughts, doctrines, and practices oriented toward moderation, egalitarianism, and humanity. The journal articles cover integrated topics on Islamic issues, including Islamic philosophy and theology, Islamic culture and history, Islamic politics, Islamic law, Islamic economics, and Islamic education, engaging a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approach. Therefore, this journal receives original research articles from any country and region concerned with Islam and Muslim.

Abstract

Tasawuf is an effort oj creatures to clean their heart and thought from material-tendency (worldly life), then fulfill them with dzikir (strong awareness of Allah) so (hat they achieve ma'rifah (vision) and union. Al-Ghazali is known as a character of tasawuf that tries to return the teaching of tasawuf to the teaching of the companions and tabi'in of the Prophet. Namely tasawuf sunni. But he frequently of the companions and to reveal symbolization of Yesus in his life of tasawuf. Moreover, in developing his tasawuf thought, Ibn Araby, known as a continuator of the view of pholosophical tasawuf, made use of philosophical reference and Bibel more than what Al-Ghazali did. It means that the point of contact between the life of tasawuf and the religious life of the earlier mankind cannot be avoided. This also happenend to the development of ilmul-fiqh, Theology, Islamic Philosophy and ilmul-akhlaq. This constitutets the reason that out of all islamic knowledge, ilmu-tasawuf gets most attenttion and criticsm in the case of it's authenticity form many people including the Wahaby followers. Whereas, actually tasawuf in Islam is the core of all teaching so Al-Ghazali calls it as Asrar al-Iman, the core of syari'at (fiqh) or called as Asrar al-Salah, and the core of Akhlaq or called as Asrar Birri al-Walidain.

Abstract

Children's fitrah to hace a religion develops in three phases; myth, fact, and individual. It's charateristics, among others, are; less profound, egocentric, anthropomorphic, verbal, ritual, imitative and amazement. Efforts to build children's fitrah to have religion can be done by giving adequate religious education and experiences, making the children accustomed to religious practices, and being good models for children.

Abstract

Globalization era, as a central issue of the society today and then, is a period of science and information that, according to Tilor (1999:208), is called as era of the emerge of learning society or knowledge society. Tertiary education, as an instituttion of scientific community in global society setting, is expected to be able to revonstruct it's vision, mission and social responsibility, in the current dimension as well. Thus, educational institution especially student-teacher education (FKIP) or Tarbiyah Department whose specification is to product teachers, according to Hasan Langgulung (1980:1991), should have three functions simultaneously, namely, preparing the young generation to play certain roles in society, transfer knowledge and values.

Abstract

The meening of education has been narrowed to be school system, so those who da not go to school are considered as uneducated people. It distorts the substance of the meaning of education, indeed it results in the exclusion of same national generation that, by chance. come from out of school system to take part in national constellation. Therefore, many criticisms are addressed to school system, as written by Reinner in hi's School is Dead'. Yet, those crititisms do not bring about significant changes, because people, have been addicted to school system that gels muih privilege from the government. Thin artide tries to offer a change in educational system by removing the privilege from school.

Abstract

When Abbasids conquered Ummayads of Baghdad in 132 H/750 M, the Syiah had supported the movement expecting to be rewarded with compensation and protection. The Syiah did such action because the Authority had continually pursued the fled of the Syiah to North Africa whose people coincidentally disinclined the Baghdad Governemtn who had burdened them with enormous taxes. In the period of 288 H-901H, led by Abdu Abdillah Asy Syi'i, the Syiah had finally succeed in establishing Bani Fatimiyali Government upon conquering the Bani Aghlab of Tunisia in advance. Fatimids had been desperately trying to conquer Egypt many times, but to no avail. It was only after Al Mu'iz Lidinillah held the power in 341-365 H (952-975 M) that the effort was finally succeed. They then moved the central government from Tunisia to Egypt and followed immadiately by the foundation of Jami' Al Azhar functioning as a place for developing the Syiah Ideology and preparing its bureaucrat cadres. By th time the Bani Fatimiyah, who held the power in 567-1171 M, was collapsed by Bany Ayyubiyah, from then on the Jami' Al Azhar Education Method had been shifted from Syiah Ideology to Sunny Ideology

Abstract

In this life, changes will never end, and so changes in the implementation of management along with the more complex organizational problems. That's why adoption, creation, and innovation are needed. Total quality management is now widely employed in managing organization and management, including tertiary educational institution that also has three elements (namely; input, process and output) and also places human resources as vital component. Human resources, as a vital component in tertiary level, should get attention and treatĀ­ment as mentioned in TQM, for example in shared vision, cross-functional cooperation, empowerment and involvement, participative management style, available advanced trainĀ­ing and effective communication channel. Thus, the application of TQM is actually one of the efforts to change irrational-traditional management into rational-modern management, one of whose elements is decision making based on fact.

Kelahiran perubahan sosial sebagai sebuah "ilmu" cabang ilmu sosiologi yang disokong oleh ilmu komunikasi, psikologi, ekonomi, antropologi, manajemen dan ilmu politik. Keterlibatan ilmu-ilmu tersebut di akibatkan oleh fakta bahwa perubahan sosial itu berkorelasi timbal balik dengan ilmu di atas.

Abstract

The modernization of agricultural technology in villages promises effectivity, efficiency, and maximum result in agricultural sector that Indonesia was able to be self-sufficient in rice in 1984. it also causes many significant shifts and changes in the aspect of farmer community's value and behavior. The shifts and changes, predictably, will result in a new problem that will replace, even completely remove, religious and traditional socio-culltural value and behavior. Those value and behavior have positive as well as negative impact for society and agricultural development.

Abstract

This research tries to explore a matter of power establishment and its delegation according to Khomeini's view. Muslims agree that khilafat and imamat are Prophet's delegation in terms of preserving religion and managing worldly lift. However, the Twelver Shi'ite has a different view from most of muslims'. They are sure that the Shi'ite imams are impeccable (ma'sum) and trustees to take over for the Messenger. Their position is just like the Messenger's in the impeccability. About the period of the great occultation (al-ghaibah al-kubra), Khomeini has a different opinion from most of the Twelver Shi'ite Scholars, that the just ulamas are the ones that have the highest authority as representation of the Imam. The result of the research shows that, in terms of power establishment and its delegation, Khomeini has a different view from the other scholars.

Abstract

Barangkali memang benar kalau dikatakan, "manusia" adalah mahluk yang "Paradoxial", pada dirinya terdapat sifat-sifat baik dan sifat-sifat jahat sekaligus. Dalam Al-Qur'an ada tiga kunci yang mengacu pada makna pokok manusia yaitu, Basyar, Insan, dan al-Nas. Dengan metodologi semantic yang ditawarkan oleh Thishihiko Izutsu, Al-Qur'an memandang manusia sebagai mahluk biologis, psikologis dan sosial. (Rahmat, 1995: 75). Lalu, "Siapakah sebenarnya manusia itu ?" Pertanyaan inilah yang akan penulis coba menjawabnya, sehingga kita tahu makna secara agak lebih mendalam khususnya dalam pandangan Ibn Khaldun.
