Abstract

Nowadays, most of the information is still in printed format. To reproduce it in the electronic form, we need an efficient way to save the scanned document. For this purpose, AT & T Labs has been developing a new technology called DjVu. In this paper, we try to compare DjVu and JPG format. The goal is to decide whether DjVu is better or not. To achieve the goal, we try to scan the document and save it in DjVu and JPG format, make comparison between these two based on file size and image quality. Comparison is done for three types of document, such as b/w photo, document with text, and document in colour. The conclusion is, DjVu format is better than JPG in file size and quite good in image quality. So, DjVu have a chance to become a new standart. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia : Di masa ini sebagian besar informasi masih berupa kertas, belum dalam bentuk elektronik. Untuk memindahkannya ke dalam bentuk elektronik, diperlukan cara penyimpanan yang efisien. Untuk saat ini ada teknologi penyimpanan dokumen yang baru dikembangkan oleh AT & T Labs., yaitu DjVu. Dalam makalah ini, dicoba melakukan perbandingan antara format DjVu dan JPG. Dengan melakukan perbandingan, diharapkan bisa menentukan, apakah format DjVu ini cukup bagus dan nantinya bisa menjadi standar penyimpanan yang baru. Untuk itu dilakukan percobaan untuk menyimpan dokumen dalam format DjVu dan JPG. Hasilnya kemudian dibandingkan, baik dari segi ukuran maupun kualitasnya. Perbandingan dilakukan untuk 3 jenis dokumen: photo hitam putih, dokumen berisikan teks, dan dokumen berwarna. Sebagai hasil akhir, disimpulkan bahwa format DjVu sangat efisien untuk menyimpan dokumen (file yang dihasilkan kecil). Kualitas gambar yang dihasilkan juga bagus. Dengan demikian mempunyai kesempatan besar untuk menjadi standar. Kata kunci: DjVu, kompresi gambar, format file

Abstract

Serial communication is commonly used in PC interface, but serial communication that is commonly used is RS-232 which only could communicate in one to one scheme. This paper will explain a software using the RS-485 interface that can communicate in one to many scheme using a multidrop network system. The server will monitor slave computer, so from the master computer we will be able to see what kind of application is being done in the slave computer. Software has been designed under Windows environtment (32 bit) using Delphi 3.0 from Borland International, Inc Software. There are two kinds of software : master and slave. The master software will control the computer we want to monitor, while the slave software will send the monitor picture to the master. The system hardware uses 3 RS 232 to RS 485 converter installed at the 3 PCs, one converter is used by master, and 2 converters are used by slave computers. Testing of picture compression, picture transmission with varying transmission speed have been done in this experiment. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia : Komunikasi serial banyak sekali digunakan dalam interface PC namun serial yang biasa dipakai adalah RS-232 yang hanya dapat berhubungan secara one to one. Dalam paper ini dibuat software menggunakan sistem RS-485 yang dapat berhubungan secara one to many menggunakan sistem multidrop network. Aplikasinya adalah monitoring komputer, jadi dalam sebuah komputer dapat melihat apa yang sedang dikerjakan oleh komputer lain dengan melihat layar monitor komputer tersebut. Software dibuat berbasis Windows (32 bit) dengan bantuan Delphi 3.0 dari Borland International, Inc Software. Software terdiri dari dua yaitu master sebagai pengontrol untuk melihat komputer lain sedangkan slave sebagai pengirim gambar pada komputer yang dimonitor dan bersifat resident dan aktif. Hardware yang digunakan adalah 3 buah RS 232 to RS 485 Converter yang dipasang pada 3 buah PC dimana sebuah PC digunakan untuk master dan 2 buah PC untuk slave. Pengujian secara software dilakukan pada pengecekan kebenaran pengiriman data, pemadatan gambar, pengiriman gambar pada berbagai kecepatan transmisi. Abstract

This paper presents a project of Web-based Distance Learning support system. The system has been built based on the Internet and World Wide Web facility. The system could be accessed with a web browser which is directed to a certain web server address so that students can do learning process just like in the real situation, such as student admissions, taking course materials, syllabus, assignments, students grades, class discussions through web, and doing online quizzes. Students could also join collaboration works by giving opinions, feedback and student produced paper/web which can be shared to the entire learning community. Therefore, it will build a collaborative learning environment where lectures together with students make constructive knowledge databases for entire learning community. This system has been developed based on Active Server Pages (ASP) technology from Microsoft which is embedded in a web server. Web pages reside in a web server which is connected to an SQL Database Server. Database server is used to store structured data such as lectures/students personal information, course lists, syllabus and its descriptions, announcement texts from lecturers, commentaries for discussion forum, student's study evaluations, scores for each assignment, quizzes for each course, assignments text from lectures, assignments which are collected by students and students contribution/materials. This system has been maintained by an administrator for maintaining and developing web pages using HTML. The administrator also does ASP scripts programming to convert web pages into active server pages. Lectures and students could contribute some course materials and share their ideas through their web browser. This web-based collaborative learning system gives the students more active role in the information gathering and learning process, making the distance students feel part of a learning community, therefore increasing motivation, comprehension and interaction with other students.

Abstract

The problem in accuracy of intersection between a circle and a straight line and between two circles was considered using a unified representation. There are two formulations of the intersection between a straight line and a circle. The first formulation uses an initial point of the line outside the circle, the second formulation uses the midpoint of the line between the intersection points as the initial point. For circle-circle intersection, there are three formulations. The first formulation uses the radical axis intersecting with one of the two circles. The second formulation uses the radical axis intersecting with the orthogonal circle obtained by adding the weighting equations of the two circles. The third formulation uses the radical axis intersecting with the orthogonal circle obtained by adding the equations of the two circles. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia : Untuk meneliti masalah akurasi perpotongan antara garis dan lingkaran dan antara dua lingkaran dapat digunakan metode unified representation. Ada dua formulasi yang digunakan untuk perpotongan antara garis dan lingkaran. Formula pertama menggunakan titik awal pada garis yang berada diluar lingkaran, formulasi yang kedua menggunakan titik tengah antara kedua titik potong sebagai titik awalnya. Untuk perpotongan antara dua lingkaran, ada tiga formulasi. Formulasi yang pertama menggunakan sumbu radikal yang memotong salah satu lingkaran. Formulasi yang kedua menggunakan sumbu radikal yang memotong lingkaran ortogonal yang diperoleh dengan penambahan faktor beban pada persamaan dua lingkaran. Formulasi yang ketiga menggunakan sumbu radikal yang memotong lingkaran ortogonal yang persamaannya didapatkan dengan menambahkan persamaan dari dua lingkaran. Kata kunci: Komputer Grafik, algoritma, garis, lingkaran, akurasi.

Abstract

This paper presents a Fuzzy Logic Development Tool called PetraFuz which has been developed at Control System Laboratory, Electrical Engineering Department, Petra Christian University. The system consists of a hardware target based on MCS51 microcontroller and a software support running under PC Windows. The system is targeted for developing fuzzy logic based systems. It supports fuzzy logic design, evaluation, assembly language generator and downloading process to the target hardware to perform on-line fuzzy process. Process action and fuzzy parameters could be transferred to PC monitor via RS-232 serial communication, this on-line process parameters is used for fuzzy tuning, i.e. fuzzy if-then rules and fuzzy membership functions. The PetraFuz tool helps very much for Fuzzy system developments, it could reduce development time significantly. The tool could spur the development of fuzzy systems based on microcontroller systems such as fuzzy control systems, fuzzy information processing, etc. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia : Makalah ini menyajikan sebuah sistem pengembangan kendali fuzzy logic (PetraFuz, Petra Fuzzy Development System) yang dikembangkan oleh laboratorium Sistem Kontrol, Jurusan Teknik Elektro, Universitas Kristen Petra Surabaya. Sistem ini terdiri dari perangkat keras sistem mikrokontroler MCS51 dan perangkat lunak pendukung yang berjalan pada PC. Sistem PetraFuz digunakan untuk mengembangkan sistem berbasis fuzzy logic utamanya pada bidang kendali. Kemampuan sistem meliputi pengembangan pada fase perancangan kendali, evaluasi kendali, pembentukan program bahasa assembly MCS51 dan proses downloading program menuju target sistem mikrokontroler MCS51 untuk dieksekusi melakukan kendali pada plant yang nyata. Aksi kendali dapat diakuisi oleh program PC melalui komunikasi serial RS232 sehingga respon kendali dapat digambarkan pada layar monitor untuk dilakukan analisis lebih lanjut yang diperlukan pada proses tuning if-then fuzzy rules. Penggunaan tools PetraFuz, sangat membantu proses rancang bangun sistem kendali fuzzy terutama bagi praktisi/akademisi yang berminat menekuni teknik kendali yang relatif baru ini. Sistem PetraFuz diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi positip bagi masyarakat sistem kendali untuk mengembangkan berbagai aplikasi kendali berbasis fuzzy logic. Abstract

To predict the condition of stock price, several technical analysis models have been used and expanded such as MACD, Fourier Transform, Accumulator Swing Index , Stochastic Oscillator etc. For input they are using the various prices such as Open, high, low , close , volume, BID, ASK price, and the output is a graphic that shows the decision whether to sell, buy or hold. Another method to determine the stock price by using Fundamental Analysis method. Fundamental method is an analysis that is based on the ratio or financial report from the existing company. Neural Network System Technology has been implemented in various applications especially in introduce the pattern. This power has attracted several people to use Neural Network for medical, Finance, Investment and marketing. Assuming that the prediction of the output system (next output prediction) is deterministic, than the suitable N.N model to predict it is Feed Forward. The prediction of the stock price is the complex interaction between unstable market and unknown random processes factor. The data from stock price can be determined by time series. If we have daily data from a certain period, for example : Xt(t = 1,2,...) than the stock price for the next period (t+h) can be predicted (the timing used can be in hourly, daily, weekly, monthly or yearly). To get the good prediction, the inputs from several aspects of the share prices have to be input in Neural Network after that the weighing principal can be adapted to minimize the wrong prediction in the first future steps. By using the final weighing, an action is done to done to minimize the total error in the second future steps. Due to that, the risk of Investor's decision to sell or buy the stock can be minimized. This paper will discuss on how to use and implement Time Series Neural Network to predict the stock market in Semen Gresik (SMGR) and Gudang Garam (GGRM) Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia : Dalam memprediksi suatu kondisi harga saham, beberapa model analisa teknik telah dipakai dan dikembangkan, beberapa analisa tersebut seperti : MACD , Fourier Transform, Accumulator Swing Index, Stochastic Oscilator dan lain lain. Sebagai masukannya digunakan beberapa macam kombinasi harga seperti : harga pembukaan, tertinggi, terendah, penutupan kemarin dan penutupan hari ini serta volume perdagangan. Dan sebagai keluaran adalah suatu grafik yang menampilkan suatu keputusan beli atau jual. Suatu cara lain dalam menentukan harga saham adalah dengan menggunakan metoda 'Fundamental Analysis', yaitu suatu analisa dimana penampilan dari suatu kinerja perusahaan didasarkan atas ratio-ratio / laporan keuangan yang ada. Teknologi sistem jaringan syaraf tiruan telah di-implementasikan dalam berbagai aplikasi terutama dalam hal pengenalan pola. Kemampuan inilah yang telah menarik beberapa kalangan dalam menggunakan jaringan syaraf tiruan untuk keperluan kesehatan, keuangan , investasi, marketing dan lain lain. Pada makalah ini akan dibahas penggunaan Jaringan syaraf tiruan Feedforward/Backpropagarion. Data dari harga saham dapat diperlakukan secara 'time series' . Jika kita mempunyai data harian selama perioda tertentu, misal : Xt (t=1,2,......), maka harga saham pada perioda berikutnya (t+h) dapat diprediksi (waktu yang digunakan bisa jam, harian, mingguan , bulanan ataupun tahunan) . Demikian seterusnya dilakukan suatu iterasi berulang hingan N hari kerja. Untuk mendapatkan hasil prediksi yang baik maka pada jaringan syaraf buatan hasus di-umpankan suatu masukan yang mewakili dari beberapa aspek atau segi penunjang harga suatu saham. Kemudian dilakukan prinsip pembobotan yang diadaptasikan untuk meminimumkan kesalahan prediksi pada satu langkah kedepan. Dengan menggunakan bobot akhir dilakukan suatu tindakan untuk meminimumkan kesalahan total untuk iterasi berikutnya.
