Abstract

This study examines the development and intellectual structure of Islamic philanthropy research focusing on zakat, infaq/sadaqah, and waqf (ZISWAF) over the period 2000–2024 using a bibliometric approach. Drawing on peer-reviewed publications indexed in major academic databases, the study applies science mapping techniques— including keyword co-occurrence, overlay visualization, density mapping, co-citation, and collaboration analysis—using VOSviewer. The findings reveal a significant growth and diversification of the literature, with waqf emerging as the central and most influential theme, closely connected to Islamic microfinance, cash waqf, economic recovery, and sustainable development. Temporal analysis indicates a clear thematic shift from early discussions on microfinance and charitable redistribution toward more recent emphases on Islamic social finance, SDGs, food security, and post-crisis economic resilience. The intellectual structure of the field is shaped by a relatively small group of influential authors and institutions, predominantly based in Indonesia, which also acts as the main hub of international collaboration.

Abstract

This study presents a systematic bibliometric review of scholarly research on sustainable development from Islamic perspectives published between 2005 and 2024. Using bibliometric techniques and science mapping approaches, the study analyzes publication trends, thematic evolution, collaboration patterns, and the intellectual structure of the field. The findings reveal a steady growth of publications, with sustainable development occupying a central conceptual position closely linked to Islamic finance, banking, and economic growth. Over time, the literature has shifted from fragmented structural and sectoral discussions toward more integrated and impact-oriented themes, particularly Islamic social finance instruments such as zakat, waqf, and Islamic microfinance, alongside emerging concerns related to fintech, poverty alleviation, climate change, and Islamic education. Collaboration analyses indicate that research production is regionally concentrated, with Southeast Asia (especially Malaysia and Indonesia) serving as the primary global hub, while cross-regional collaboration remains uneven. The study highlights both the growing maturity and existing gaps in the field, underscoring the need for greater thematic diversification, interdisciplinary integration, and broader international collaboration to advance Islamic contributions to global sustainable development discourse.

Abstract

One of the hadiths that has broad implications for the formation of Muslim identity is the hadith prohibiting resemblance to non-Muslims (tasyabbuh). In contemporary social realities, this hadith is frequently invoked as a basis for legal debates concerning various social practices, cultural expressions, and symbols that intersect with non-Muslim traditions. This study aims to examine the meaning of the hadith prohibiting tasyabbuh through a comparative analysis of the perspectives of classical and contemporary scholars. This research employs a library-based qualitative method with a comparative approach, grounded in textual analysis of the hadith and scholarly interpretations across different periods. The findings indicate that both classical and contemporary scholars share fundamental principles in understanding the hadith on tasyabbuh, particularly in affirming the prohibition of resembling non-Muslims in matters of creed (ʿaqīdah), worship (ʿibādah), and religious symbols (shiʿār al-dīn). The differences that emerge are primarily methodological, especially in responding to modern social and cultural changes. Contemporary scholars emphasize the classification of forms of tasyabbuh, the distinction between acts of worship and customary practices, as well as considerations of intention and potential harm (mafsadah). Thus, these differences are not contradictory but complementary, aiming to safeguard the purity of faith and the identity of the Muslim community in accordance with the context of each era.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of Sharia financial literacy, trust, and risk perception on retail sukuk investment decisions among Muslim investors in Indonesia. Employing a quantitative research design, primary data were collected from 150 respondents using structured questionnaires measured on a Likert scale. The data were analyzed using SPSS version 25, including descriptive statistics, validity and reliability tests, classical assumption tests, and multiple linear regression analysis. The results reveal that Sharia financial literacy and trust have a positive and significant effect on retail sukuk investment decisions, while risk perception has a negative and significant effect. Among the variables, trust is identified as the most influential factor in shaping investment behavior. Simultaneously, all independent variables significantly affect investment decisions, with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.564, indicating that 56.4% of the variation in investment decisions is explained by the model. These findings highlight the importance of improving Islamic financial literacy, strengthening institutional trust, and managing perceived risks to enhance participation in retail sukuk investments. This study contributes to the growing literature on Islamic finance by providing empirical insights into behavioral determinants of investment decisions in a developing country context.

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of service quality in halal tourism and perceived value on tourist satisfaction and revisit intention among Muslim tourists in Indonesia. A quantitative approach was employed using data collected from 150 respondents through a structured questionnaire based on a Likert scale. The data were analyzed using SmartPLS 3 to evaluate both the measurement and structural models. The results indicate that service quality has a significant positive effect on perceived value and tourist satisfaction. Perceived value also significantly influences satisfaction and revisit intention. Furthermore, tourist satisfaction is found to have the strongest effect on revisit intention and plays a significant mediating role in the relationship between service quality, perceived value, and revisit intention. These findings highlight the importance of delivering high-quality, halal-compliant services that enhance perceived value and satisfaction, ultimately strengthening tourist loyalty. This study contributes to the halal tourism literature by providing empirical evidence on the integrated relationships among key variables and offers practical insights for improving the competitiveness of Indonesia’s halal tourism sector.

Abstract

The prevalence of anxiety symptoms among modern individuals continues to rise due to psychological pressure, social expectations, and the increasing complexity of daily life. This condition demands coping strategies that address not only rational-cognitive aspects but also the spiritual dimension of human experience. This study examines the integration of dhikr (remembrance) and fikir (reflective thinking) as a holistic coping mechanism for managing anxiety symptoms. Employing a library research method, this study reviews psychological literature, Islamic scholarship, and empirical studies related to coping mechanisms. The findings indicate that dhikr functions as an emotional regulator that reduces physiological arousal associated with anxiety, while dhikr facilitates more adaptive cognitive appraisal of stressors. The synergy between these practices fosters inner tranquility and strengthens cognitive regulation, thus enhancing individual resilience against anxiety. This study highlights the relevance of spiritual-cognitive approaches as complementary strategies within contemporary psychological interventions.

Abstract

The research is focused on the investigation of the global development of Qur’anic studies between 2000 and 2025 through a bibliometric analysis and a science mapping approach. For data collection and analysis, a database of Scopus was utilized with the use of VOSviewer software tools. The results show that there was consistent growth in the number of publications in the field. The most noticeable feature is that many contributions came from South East Asian countries like Indonesia and Malaysia, becoming the key centers for international cooperation in scientific research. Moreover, based on the analysis of co-authorship networks, one can note that the existing system was relatively clustered, implying the existence of well-established research communities in the regions with few connections between the regions. At the same time, the citation analysis reveals the multidisciplinary character of the research area and its interlinkage with many aspects of theological, ethic, gender, health, and socio-economic studies. In addition, the analysis of keyword co-occurrences and overlay networks shows that apart from classic keywords such as 'tafsir' and 'exegesis,' digital humanities and computation approaches also gained popularity. This study underscores the evolving and interdisciplinary character of Qur’anic studies and highlights the need for stronger international collaboration and methodological innovation to enhance its global academic impact.

Abstract

This research attempts to shed light on the development of Hadith science between 2000 and 2025 through a bibliometric examination of its intellectual structure, collaboration patterns, and thematic changes. The analysis of the literature, which was extracted from the Scopus database with the help of VOSviewer, is focused on three major dimensions – namely, co-authorship, citations, and keywords co-occurrences. As shown by the obtained results, Hadith science continues to preserve its strong ties to classical Islamic scholarship, represented primarily by theology, Shariah, and the history of Islam in its early days. However, Hadith science has expanded significantly beyond its traditional boundaries, having entered new disciplines such as multicultural education, gender-related issues, and even modern society's problems. Regarding co-authorships, it becomes evident that Hadith science possesses an internally coherent network of collaboration that, however, tends to be quite region-specific. Finally, when it comes to keywords co-occurrences, one can notice that the most popular topics among those covered in this field include Hadith's digital discourse and epistemology. To sum up, this study suggests that Hadith scholarship is currently going through a transition process, when classical traditions continue to be followed alongside more innovative ones.

Abstract

The paper focuses on studying thematic pathways in research on Islamic philosophy over the period between 2000 and 2025 using bibliometric and network visualization techniques. Data were sourced from Elsevier's Scopus and processed using VOSviewer to visualize authorship networks, citation networks and co-occurring keywords. The analysis revealed that there are dominant themes in Islamic philosophy research, which revolve around Islam and philosophy. Authorship network analysis demonstrates that there are clusters and links among scholarly communities with the number of international connections increasing. Citation analysis shows that classical philosophies and interdisciplinary research papers have had a profound impact on Islamic philosophy research. Moreover, the analysis of co-occurring keywords and the overlay analysis illustrate that a thematic shift takes place from foundational and historical questions to applied topics in Islamic economics, law, education and ethics. Indeed, density visualization shows that, although Islamic philosophy remains a dominant theme, emerging themes reflect its diversity and development. Thus, research on Islamic philosophy transforms into an interdisciplinary and internationally-oriented subject that combines classical ideas and modern issues. The study makes contributions to the literature in that it identifies trends and directions in research on Islamic philosophy.
