Abstract

Whether or not the learning objectives of mathematics are achieved can be determined from the outcomes of learning by students. Outcomes of learning are the results shown by students after participating in the process of learning. However, it is still found that the low outcomes of learning by students at SMP Negeri 1 X Koto Singkarak. The research purpose was to describe the outcomes of learning by students in mathematics who used interactive media for learning better than the outcomes of learning by students in mathematics who used learning in conventional. This study uses a type of quasi-experimental research with a non-equivalent post-test only with design of control group. The technique for sampling used technique by purposive sampling with the selected classes being class VIII A and VIII C. The research instrument used was a outcome of learning test in consist of questions in description. The data in research were analyzed using the t test. Through the analysis of data conducted with the t test, obtained a P-value of 0.002 or reject  because it is less than the real level α = 0.05. We got conclussion that the outcomes of learning by students in mathematics who use interactive media for learning are better than the outcomes of learning by students in mathematics who use learning in conventional. Keywords–Learning Outcomes, Interactive Learning Media, Linear Equations.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain the influence of the application of the Creative Problem Solving (CPS) method in the learning process at SMA Negeri 3 Padang. This method is measured based on four indicators, namely (1) understanding of the problem, (2) selecting a strategy, (3) solving the problem, and (4) re-examining the results of the answers. The four indicators are used to measure students' ability to solve non-routine questions. The CPS method is applied by making students the center of learning. The treatment given to the experimental class is to provide a way to understand the problem. Understanding of the questions asked by the problem and followed by choosing the right strategy and how to solve the problem. The final treatment is to provide skills to interpret the meaning contained in the answers given and compare them with the questions to be achieved. The research was conducted using a quasi-experimental methodology with The Static Group Comparison Design. The conclusion that can be drawn is that there is a significant effect of applying the CPS method, namely the average ability of students in the experimental class is 9.04 in the experimental class and 8.06 in the control class based on the maximum assessment reference is 12. The CPS method in this study shows more influence the learning process. Keywords– Creative, Problem, Solving, mathematic, prevalent.

Abstract

The research background was the inability of students to monitor the concepts and strategies used in accordance with the problems given, like the inability of students to control the results obtained. Besides that, students' metacognitive ability to math problem solving is still low. The research purpose was to determine students' metacognitive abilities in mathematical problem solving problems. This research type was exploratory qualitative research. The research subjects were class XI students of SMA Negeri 9 Padang in the 2022/2023 academic year, which consisted of 24 students. Qualitative methods are used in this study because the problems encountered are holistic. Data collection was condcuted by administering tests, questionnaires, and interviews. The main instruments in this research were researchers and supporting instruments in consist of matrix metacognitive tests, metacognitive ability questionnaires, and interview guides. The techniques for data analysis were reduction of data, presentation of data, and conclusions in drawing. The validity of data guarantee technique is technical triangulation. The research results shown that there are three categories of students' metacognitive abilities, namely high, medium, and low metacognitive abilities. The highest percentage is students with high metacognitive abilities, followed by metacognitive abilities in medium and low. Students who have high metacognitive abilities fulfill every planning, monitoring, and evaluation activity. Students who have moderate abilities of metacognition have fulfilled the indicators in planning activities, while in monitoring and evaluation activities there were still indicators that have not been fulfilled. Students who have low abilities of metacognitive still have many indicators on abilities of metacognitive that have not been able to be met. Keywords– Metacognition Abilities, Problem Solving Questions

Abstract

Mathematical communication skill is one of learning objective in mathematics. However, in reality the communication of mathematical skills by class VIII student at SMPN 3 Lubuk Basung are still lack. One solution to increase mathematical communication skills is the use a Student Teams Achievement Divisions (STAD), a model of cooperative learning. The study purpose was to determine whether the mathematical communication skill of studentsworking with the STAD model are better than those of students using direct learning. This study type was a researchin quasy-experimental design with posttest only control group design. The research data were obtained by test of mathematical communication skills. Data analysis concluded that students using the STAD model performed better in mathematical communication skills than those using direct learning. Keywords–Cooperative Learning, Student Teams Achievement Divisions, Mathematical Communication Skills.

Abstract

This research attempts to characterize students' self-confidence in terms of their ability to solve mathematical problems. In this study, four questions from the geometry transformation material and 16 items from the self-confidence survey were used to measure the problem solving skills in mathematical of 36 students by class XI MIPA 3. Miles and Huberman's analysis was used to examine the questions, and a triangulation approach was used to check the reliability of sources. data. The research results shown that students with levels in high of self-confidence were able to fulfill all indicators of problem solving, students with moderate levels of self-confidence were able to fulfill two problem solving indicators, and students with low self-confidence. confident can not meet one of the indicators.Keywords– The mathematic problem solving, Self confidence, Learning

Abstract

Mathematical Problem-solving is one of the abilities that needs to be developed in learning mathematics. However, that ability is still low in class XI SMAN 7 Padang is still low. One solution to overcome the problem is used a cooperative learning model of Group Investigation (GI). This research type were descriptive and quasi-experiment with a research design of Nonequivalent Posttest-Only Control Group Design. The sample are Class XI F6 as the experiment class and Class XI F7 as the control class. Based on result of data analysis acquired P-value = 0.000 where P-value < 0.05. It can be concluded that mathematical problem-solving skills on students who learn with a cooperative learning model of GI is better than direct learning. Keywords – Cooperative Learning, Direct Learning, Group investigation, Mathematical Problem Solving

Abstract

The ability to understand mathematical concepts is one of the important learning objectives to be mastered by students. However, in reality the ability to understand mathematical concepts in class VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Tanah Putih, Rokan Hilir Regency, is still relatively low. To overcome this problem, one way that can be done is to apply the Connecting Organizing Reflecting Extending learning model. The purpose of this study was to find out whether the ability to understand mathematical concepts of students who studied with the Connecting Organizing Reflecting Extending learning model was better than those who studied with the direct learning model in class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Tanah Putih, Rokan Hilir Regency. This type of research is a quasi-experimental design with the nonequivalent posttest-only group design. The population is all students of class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Tanah Putih, Rokan Hilir Regency with a sample of class VIII.2 and VIII.3. Abstract

Concept understanding is a very important ability in the mathematics learning process that is expected to be mastered well by learners. The real life in the field found that the understanding of the concept of mathematics among the class VIII students of SMP Negeri 5 Mandau for the 2022–2023 academic year was still low. One effort that can be made to improve students' concepts understanding of mathematical is to apply models such as Think-Pair-Square learning. The purpose of this research is to describe whether the understanding of the mathematical concepts of students who learn using the Think Pair Square learning model is better than the understanding of the mathematical concepts of students who learn by using the direct learning model in class VIII SMP Negeri 5 Mandau. This research type is quasi-experimental with a randomized, control-group-only design. This study's population consisted of students in class VIII at SMP Negeri 5 Mandau. Class VIII.4 was selected as the class for experimental and class VIII.2 as the class for control. The instrument used is an understanding test of mathematical concepts in consist of description questions.  Keywords —Cooperative Learning, Mathematical Concept Comprehension, Think Pair Square, Direct Learning.
