Abstract

The aims of this research is to increase understanding of mathematical concepts. In fact, in eight grade MTsN Tanjung Barulak showed that mathematics learning process was still not able to improve students’ understanding of mathematical concepts optimally.It happened because students were’nt really involved in teaching and learning process. One of solutions that couldbe done to increase the students' concepts understandingwasby implementing cooperative learning model of Numbered HeadsTogether (NHT).Type of this research was quasi-experimental with Static Group Design. The samples of this research were class VIII.3 and VIII.2. Instrument of research wasfinal test. Analysis of final test indicates that students’ understanding of mathematical concepts who study by using NHT model is better than using conventional learning.  Keywords – conventional learning, cooperative learning model, numbered heads together,understanding of mathematical concepts.

Abstract

Understanding ability of mathematical concept is one of the important goals of mathematics learning.In effort to reach the goals, Understanding abillity of mathematical concept can be developed through a learning process. However, in fact found that understanding ability of mathematics concept students of grade XI IPA SMA Negeri 6 Padang is still low. The solution to solve the problem above is to apply cooperative learning model type Team Assisted Individualization. The type of this research is quasy experiment with static group design research design. Population in this research is student of grade XI IPA and the samples are grade XI IPA 5 as experiment class and grade XI IPA 4 as control class. Instrument used in this research is final test of understanding of mathematics concepts student. The result of this research shows that understanding ability of mathematicalconcept student which study with cooperative learning model type Team Assisted Individualization is better than the ability of understanding concepts mathematics student that study with conventional learning in grade XI IPA SMA Negeri 6 Padang.Keywords–understanding ability of mathematical concept, cooperative learning type Team Assisted Individualization, conventional learning

Abstract

The mathematical communication is one of ability that whised to be own by students in mathematics learning. In fact that found the mathematical communication ability student of eleventh grade in social science SMA Pembangunan Laboratorium UNP is still low. One effort that can do for overcome these problems is using Learning Cycle 5E model based constructivism. The purpose of this study is to know whether the mathematical communication ability of student who learn using Learning Cycle 5E model is better than the mathematical communication ability of student who learn using conventional learning. Based on data analysis from the final test of mathematical communication ability using nonparametric statistic test by U-Mann Whitney test, it can be conclude the mathematical communication ability of student who learn using Learning Cycle 5E model is better than the mathematical communication ability of student who learn using convensional learning.Keywords — Learning Cycle 5E model, Constructivism, mathematical communication.

Abstract

Learning process that is implemented in SMPN 16 Padang was still not optimal to improve students' mathematics learning outcomes. The process of learning mathematics at SMPN 16 Padang is still centered on teachers and students tend to passively receive learning. One alternative to improve learning outcomes is to apply cooperative learning of Think Pair Square (TPSq) type in learning mathematics. Purpose of this study is to determine whether the results of learning mathematics students learning applying cooperative learning model Think Pair Square type better than the student learning outcomes with conventional learning by applying the model of cooperative learning type TPSq on students of class VIII SMPN 16 Padang. This research was a quasi-experiment, with Static Group Design. Population were student in grade VIII at SMPN 16 Padang. The research sample was chosen randomly and elected VIII.4 as experimental class and VIII.6 as control class. The results of this study indicate the results of learning mathematics students who learn to use cooperative learning model with TPSq’s type better than student who learned used conventional learning.Keywords – cooperative learning, result of learning mathematical, think pair square

Abstract

One of the abilitiy that must be mastered by students in learning mathematics is understanding of mathematical concepts. In fact, students’ understanding of mathematical concepts is still low. The solution to solve this problem is by applying cooperative learning model Numbered Heads Together (NHT) type. The purpose of this study is to view whether students’ understanding of mathematical concepts who learning by using cooperative learning model NHT type is better than conventional learning. This study is quasi experiment with static group design. Sampling is done by simple random sampling. The results shows that students’ understanding of mathematical concepts who learning by using cooperative learning model NHT type is better than conventional learning.  Keywords – conventional learning, numbered heads together, understanding of mathematical concepts

Abstract

Understanding of mathematical concepts of students in seventh grade of SMPN 17 Padang is still low, so it needs to be improved. Algebra Blocks is manipulatives that can improve students' understanding of mathematical concepts in abstract topics. The aims of this research describes whether the understanding of mathematical concepts of students that study by Algebra Blocks is better than conventional learning in grade VII SMPN 17 Padang. The kind of this research is quasi eksperiment with static grup design. The samples are the students at class VII.4 and VII.3. The result of the research show that understanding of mathematical concepts of students that study by Algebra Blocks is better than conventional learning. Keywords – algebra blocks, conventional learning, understanding of mathematical concept.

Abstract

Understanding of mathematical concepts is important for students because it is basic ability, but in fact students’ understanding of mathematical concepts in SMPN 4 Padang grade eight is still low, so it needs to be improved because teachers use teacher centered learning in class. One attempt to overcome this problem is applied a learning model that can facilitates students to understand concepts and build their own knowledge. Learning model that can be applied is Cooperative Learning type Two Stay Two Stray (TSTS). Type of this research is quasi experiment with Static Group Design. Purpose of this research is to describes the impact from this model for understanding of mathematical concepts. Based on the result of data analysis by using t test, P-value = 0,011< ???? = 0,05, it can be concluded that understanding of mathematical concepts of students who studiying by cooperative learning type TSTS is better than students who study by conventional learning.Keywords — cooperative learning, two stay two stray, understanding of mathematical concepts, conventional learning.

The understandingof mathematical concept has an important role in the purpose of learning so that later learners will be able to understand the objectives of other mathematics learning. Abstract

One of coginitive competence that wished to be owned by student is the understanding of mathematical concepts, butbased on the result of observation and given test show that learning activities and competence on understandingmathematical concept of students SMPN 30 Padang grade VIII are still low. One of the efforts to overcome thisproblem is by applying Connecting Organizing Reflecting Extending (CORE) learning model. The purpose of thisresearch were to describe student’s learning activities in grade VIII of SMPN 30 Padang during applied CORElearning model and describe whether student’s concept understanding using CORE learning model better thanstudent’s concept understanding using coventional learning model. Based on data analysis, obtained: (1) percentage ofstudent’s learning activities have fluctuated on some indicator activities that observed; (2) student’s conceptunderstanding using CORE learning model is better than student’s concept understanding using conventional learningmodelKeywords–CORE learning model, student’s learning activities , understanding of mathematical concept
