Abstract

One of the goals of learning mathematics in schools is that students have good mathematical problem-solving abities. Mathematical problem-solving abilities of students is the cognitive abilities of students in solving problems, one of which can be seen from the answers given by students to the problem given. One theory that can classify students' answers in solving mathematical problems is the Taxonomy Structure of the Observed Learning Outcome (SOLO).SOLO Taxonomy classifies the level of ability of students' answers to problems into five levels, namely pre-structural level, unistructural level, multistructural level, relational level, and extended abstract level. This study aims to describe and analyze students' mathematical problem solving abilities based on SOLO taxonomy in class VIII of SMP Negeri 1 Padang.The type of research conducted is descriptive with the taking of research subjects using purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques used are tests, interviews, and observations while the analytical techniques used for this research are descriptive analysis and data triangulation. The results of the research on mathematical problem-solving abilities of students based on SOLO taxonomy shows that students in the upper group have mathematical problem-solving abilities at the relational level, students who are in the middle group have mathematical problem-solving abilities at the unistructural, multistructural level, and relational level, as well as students who are in the lack groups have mathematical problem-solving abilities at the level of prestructural and unistructural level. Abstract

Multimedia interactive is one of the important thing on mathematics learning to increase effectiveness and efficiency. However multimedia which used in school was not interactive and motivate. So, it was developed interactive learning multimedia based on games on set material. Aim of this research was to result the valid, practice, and effective multimedia. Research was a design research using Plomp model were devided into three stages namely preliminary research, prototyping, and assessment phase. Data was got by questionnaires, validation and interview sheets were analyzed using technique of descriptive quantitative and result of test was analyzed using Sukmadinata formula. Result shows that quality of multimedia are very valid with characteristic content as according to state of the art knowledge, construct has multimedia component, language appropriate to EBI, and visuals are technically good; very practical from ease of using, time of using and the interest of student; and effective for improving students understanding and motivation.Keywords – interactive multimedia, games, design research.

Abstract

Understanding of mathematical concepts is one of the abilities that must be owned by students in learning mathematics.Based on observations that have been do, understanding of mathematical concept students of grade X C SMK Negeri 2 Padang was low. The solution to overcome the problem is learning by using model cooperative learning tipe Think Pair Share. This research is a quasi-experimental research design with static group design. The populations were students of grade X C with grade X C3 as an experimental class and grade X C1 as a control class. Instruments used in this research is a test of understanding of the concept students. The results showed that the understanding of mathematical concepts students who learn by using model cooperative learning tipe Think Pair Share is better than the understanding of mathematical concepts students who learn by using direct learning in class X C SMK Negeri 2 Padang.Keywords – Understanding Of Mathematical Concepts, Think Pair Share , Direct

Abstract

A person’s ability to solve problems was a very important aspect that must be possessed by students’ in learningmathematics because it wa one of the goals of learning mathematics. However, result of observation and interviews in the class X MIPA SMAN 7 Padang shows that students’mathematical problem solving ability was still low. It was cause by students’ did not involvment in learning process and they didn’t accustomed to solve non routine problems. Therefore, to improvestudents’ mathematical problem solving ability required anappropriate strategy in learning activity. One of learning models that can be used is guided inquiry model. Purpose of study was to determine students’ mathematical problem solving ability that usingguided inquirylearning model and compare it with students’ who learn with conventional learning in class X MIPA SMAN 7 Padang year lesson 2017/2018. Based on data analysis at a = 0,05 by doing t’-test,it is obtained Pvalue = 0,000, because P-value < a then????0 rejected. This means that students’ mathematical problem solving ability who learning by applying guided inquiry model is better than conventional learning in class X MIPASMAN 7 Padang year lesson 2017/2018.Keywords – conventional learning, guided inquiry learning model, mathematical problem solving ability.

Abstract

Understanding of mathematical concepts is one of the most important mathematical goals for students to master the material and prerequisites for the next concept, in fact in class IX SMP Negeri 11 Padang student's understanding of mathematical concepts is still low, so it needs to be improved and the one of the objectives of mathematics learning can be reached. The teacher dominates the learning carried out. The effort to solve this problem is by applying a learning model that can facilitate students to understand the material with their own knowledge. The learning model that can be used is a cooperative learning model type Think Pair Square (TPSq). The type of this research is quasi-experimental with a research design namely Static Group Design. Based on the results of data analysis using the t-test, obtained P-value = 0.012 ˂ α = 0.05, the conclusion is the student’s understanding of the mathematics concept who learn with the cooperative learning type TPSq model better than students using conventional learning. Keywords— cooperative learning, Think Pair Square, mathematical concepts, conventional learning

Abstract

Mathematical communication ability is one of the aspects that determines students’ success in achieving the goals of learning mathematics. However, in reality found that students’ mathematical communication ability in class VIII SMP Negeri 31 Padang were still low. The method that can be applied to improve students’ mathematical communication ability is by applying Realistic Mathematic Education (RME) approach. The purpose of this study is to know whether students’ mathematical communication ability who learned by using RME approach is better than those who learned by using scientific approach and to describe the development of students’ mathematical communication ability who learned by using RME approach in class VIII SMPN 31 Padang. This study was a combination between quasi experimental and descriptive study with static group design. Based on the result of data analysis, henced  concluded students’ mathematical communication ability who learned by using RME approach is better than those who learned by using scientific approach.Keywords – mathematical communication ability ,realistic mathematic education approach, scientific approach.

Abstract

Mathematical problem solving ability is one of abilities that is expected to be develop optimally for learners. However, mathematical problem solving ability of students in eighth grade at SMPN 4 Padang is still low. One of the learning approach that can solve this problem is Realistic Mathematics Education approach.The aims of this research isto know whether mathematical problem solving ability of students who study by Realistic Mathematics Education approach is better than conventional learning in eighth grade at SMPN 4 Padang. The kind of this research was quasi eksperiment with static grup design. The samples of this research was the students at class VIII.4 and class VIII.3. The result of the research show that mathematical problem solving ability of students who study by Realistic Mathematics Education approach is better than conventional learning. Abstract

Understanding of mathematical concepts is one of the basic competence that should be developed by students. Mean while, in fact found that the understanding of mathematical concept of students grade VIII SMPN 24 Padang is still low. Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) type cooperative learning model can be solution to solve this problem. The purpose of this research is to know whether understanding of mathematical concept of student using cooperative learning TAI type is better that conventional learning in grade VIII of SMPN 24 Padang. The type of this research is quasy experiments, with static group design. The population in this research is students of grade VIII and the sample are VIII A as experiment class and VIII B as control class. Instrument that used is final test of understanding concepts. The result of this research shows that students understanding mathematical concept using TAI type of cooperative learning model is better than students understanding mathematical concepts using conventional learning.Keywords – understanding of mathematical concepts, cooperative learning model type Team Assisted Individualization, conventional learning.

Abstract

Themathematical communication of ability is the goals of one of mathematics learning. In fact,  student’s mathematical communication class VIII SMPN 7 Padang is not optimal. This is can see at the time of observation and test score given to students that contain indicator of the ability of mathematical communication is low.One effort that can be done to apply cooperative learning model type TPSq. The purpose of this study is to look at differences in mathematical communication skills of learners using learning model of cooperative type TPSq with learners who learning directly. This type of research used is quasi experimental with the design of research Randomized Control-Group Only Design and Descriptive. The research instrument is a quiz and tests the ability of mathematical communication in the form of essay matter. The results a quiz showed that the mathematical communication ability of learners using cooperative model of TPSq type is best andthe results showed that the mathematical communication ability of learners using cooperative model of TPSq type is better than the mathematical communication ability of the students whose learning using direct learning.Keywords – Cooperative;learning;type;TPSq, Student’s;mathematics;communication;skills, Direct  Instruction

Abstract

One type of learning tool suggested by the goverment is Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik (LKPD). The proper use of LKPD helps leaner gain success learning outcomes. Base on the observations at SMPN 2 Padang that LKPD used by teacher is not provide a step that leads leaners to build understanding through real problems. The presentation of the material on the LKPD is patterned on direct formula. This is the underlying researcher for developing LKPD based PBL , so students are able to construct know leage through real problems. Data is collect through observation, questionnaires, interviews, and test problem solving abilities. The subjects of this research are students grade VIII SMP N 2 Padang. This research development is used Plomp made consists of phase preliminary research, prototype phase, and assessment phase. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the mathematics lesson equipment based on PBL which was conducted to student's of class VIII was valid, practical, and effective.Keywords – LKPD, PBL, Plomp
