Abstract

Background of the problem: As social conditions change and governance problems become more complicated, it is more important than ever for institutions and communities to be able to adapt, learn, and come up with new ideas. The idea of a growth mindset, which is the belief that you can improve your skills and outcomes by working hard and learning, has been studied a lot in schools and psychology. However, its relevance to public policy and community development has not been studied as much. Purpose: The goal of this study is to critically look at how the idea of a growth mindset has been thought about, used, or suggested in the areas of public administration and community empowerment. Method: This study looked at 68 scholarly sources published between 2010 and 2025 using a critical literature review method. Result: The results show three main ideas: (1) a growth mindset helps institutions learn and come up with new policies; (2) it gives people more power and encourages them to get involved, especially in places where they are not normally involved; and (3) it uses in public settings is still not well-defined or well-researched. Implication: The research adds to the theoretical integration of psychological concepts into discussions about governance and development by providing a micro-level perspective to go along with structural and institutional analyses. In practice, it shows how mindset-based interventions can help make public systems more adaptable, inclusive, and strong, if they are used with an eye on context and fairness. This study shows that we need more real-world research, frameworks that cross disciplines, and critical thinking about how mindset affects public life.

Abstract

Many people agree that rural development is facilitated by the inclusion of digital technologies into agriculture. Still, the influence of the digital generation young people raised with digital tools and platforms in determining this change is yet mostly unknown. With an eye towards how they mediate technological adoption, support innovation, and negotiate intergenerational relations, this study critically investigates how the digital generation shapes the evolution of farming communities. Using a critical literature review approach, the study synthesises results from 87 peer-reviewed publications, policy studies, and scholarly publications covering the domains of agricultural development, digital innovation, and rural sociology. Four main themes emerge from the study: (1) the digital generation as intermediaries in knowledge transfer and digital literacy; (2) their role in driving agri-tech entrepreneurship; (3) the negotiation of intergenerational relationships in the context of technological change; and (4) ongoing structural barriers to digital inclusion, especially in rural and gendered contexts. These results underline the possible agents of change of the digital generation as well as the socioeconomic and infrastructure limitations that restrict their influence. Through emphasising generational agency, the study helps to provide a more complex knowledge of digital revolution in agriculture. It advocates governmental changes supporting young-led innovation, generational cooperation, and systematic inequality in access to digital resources.

Abstract

The swift ascendance of TikTok as a preeminent short-form video platform has elicited increasing apprehension among educators and psychologists over its possible effects on users' cognitive abilities, especially critical thinking. The platform provides innovative methods of interaction and communication; nevertheless, its rapid, algorithm-based material distribution may hinder introspective and critical thinking. This study intends to rigorously analyse the correlation between TikTok usage and critical thinking by integrating results from 30 peer-reviewed studies published from 2018 to 2025. The study utilised a critical review methodology to carefully analyse empirical and theoretical literature from several fields, including psychology, education, and media studies. Articles were chosen based on relevance, methodological rigour, and conceptual clarity, and were thematically analysed to discern trends, conflicts, and gaps in the current research. The analysis identified four principal themes: (1) cognitive overload and attention fragmentation linked to extended TikTok usage, (2) algorithmic reinforcement of cognitive biases, (3) constrained yet intriguing teaching opportunities, and (4) notable methodological inconsistencies among studies. Although the majority of research indicates a negative link between TikTok usage and critical thinking, a few studies emphasise the platform's potential when utilised deliberately for educational objectives. These findings emphasise the necessity for more stringent, theory-based research and advocate for educational programs that enhance critical media literacy. This study enhances the existing literature on the cognitive effects of digital media and establishes a basis for future research on the changing interplay between technology and cognition.
