Abstract

Challenges always exist in learning any English skills, including vocabulary building. This leads to the fact that EFL learners still do not know what strategies can be used to enrich English vocabularies. This qualitative study therefore aims to investigate what strategies are used by EFL learners and the challenges experienced by them in enriching and memorizing vocabularies. To achieve those objectives, this research categorizes the respondents into three groups, namely the first, second and third grades of senior high school. They are all interviewed in a semi structured way to find out in-depth data. The analyses reveal that the respondents employ various strategies to enrich the English vocabularies. The majority of the first grade respondents use the strategy of watching movies, reading English books and saying English words repeatedly. Then, the second grade respondents prefers to use the strategy of saying the English words repeatedly, watching movies and reading articles. Lastly, the third grade of the respondents use the strategy of watching movies and listening to music. This indicates that enriching vocabulary not only requires formal strategies in the classroom but also informal strategies outside the classroom.

Abstract

Research on the implementation of independent learning on an independent campus in thematic real work lectures (KKNT) at STKP Al-Amin Indramayu is a form of appreciation to students who have participated in KKNT activities carried out in 7 villages in Anjatan District, including: 1) Bugis Tua Village, 2) Mangun Jaya Village, 3) Cilandak Lor Village, 4) Lempuyang Village, 5) Anjatan Baru Village, 6) Kopyah Village and 7) Wanguk Village. Then it has implications for whether students in KKNT are indeed carrying out the tridarma of higher education which is based on the spirit of independent campus learning. The method used in this study was qualitative by determining 7 respondents from 7 KKNT workplaces to be able to find out an overview of the implementation of KKNT in each village where students were sent for job training. Students who carry out KKNT activities are very enthusiastic about these activities and hope that in the next time the committee will be even better in preparing for the implementation of KKNT. Students are well received in their place in the village and carry out activities that are usually carried out by the community there, such as helping to teach in schools, teaching salaries, collaborating in sports, and so on. However, there has been no working group that has plunged into the potential of the village, namely agriculture. Success in the implementation of KKNT in Anjatan District will be better if it is based on careful preparation, complete debriefing, and adequate monitoring. Because indeed students are still learning how to interact and realize programs in the community in a real way.

Abstract

Education that is delivered virtually, with neither the teacher nor the pupils physically present, is referred to as "distance learning. Although the terms "Distance Learning" and "E-learning" are frequently used interchangeably, they refer to two different concepts. The main difference between e-learning and distance learning is location. With e-learning, students can be together in a classroom while going through their digital lessons and assessments. Distance learning, on the other hand, can be done online and from the student’s home. The contact between teachers and students will vary as a result of the diversity in settings. This study employs a descriptive qualitative research methodology that depicts the scenario as it relates to an indicator or the current status of the findings in the field. A qualitative research process is one that generates descriptive data from people or observed behaviors as written or spoken words. In this study, the methods for gathering data and information were interviewing, and documenting studies of the necessary data sources. We come to the conclusion that the following needs will be met by this method of DLS improvement: (1) Improving the mapping between academia and industry; (2) Assist in keeping the skilled workers in the sector; (3) Bringing remote sector workers into the industrial job market on an equal footing with those who live in cities and towns and (4) Assist in the nation's development of an educated and cultural society.

Abstract

The background of the paper relates to the role of the teacher in the teaching and learning process as well as students as the subjects of that process. The learning and teaching process is primarily teacher-centered. The students had little opportunity to participate actively in class because the teacher constantly explained. Students felt hesitant to express their ideas as a result. They preferred to communicate in Indonesian rather than English. Additionally, they had a tendency to speak incorrectly, mispronouncing words, creating grammatical errors, and making inappropriate remarks. There are several goals for this research. The first is to identify and describe various forms of feedback from teachers on students' speaking activities. The second goal, however, is to have students speak about the reasons for giving such feedback and to explain those reasons. This study used a descriptive qualitative methodology. The research strategy that should describe and explain the phenomenon is the descriptive method. The researches' primary tools were interviews and documentation. Interviews are conducted with both the students and the English teacher who is actively involved in the educational process. However, the lesson plan for an English teacher and a photograph of a teacher in the classroom are used by the researcher as evidence. The results of this study are outside simply describing the various forms of teacher feedback used when educating students in English in the classroom. The researcher then goes on to discuss the various types of feedback that teachers can provide for their students as well as the challenges they face in doing so. The researcher also discusses the issues that students encounter while learning and teaching in relation to teacher feedback.
