Abstract

The world energy crisis has effected the Indonesian energy supply, inspite of  Indonesia is rich in another potential geo- resources, such as Coalbed Methane (CBM), which can be used for solving this crisis. The geology and coal characteristics of the Muaraenim Formation in Sarolangun - Pauh region, suggest that the Coalbed methane resource in this area is prospective. Detailed organic geochemical and petrographical study, using fresh surface and subcrop samples of coal was conducted. Petrographically, the coal mainly consists of vitrinite group, and is essentially composed telovitrinite, telocolinite, and detrovitrinite, with rare to sparse inertinite, and minor exinite and mineral matter. A geochemical result indicates the range of volatile matter content is from 13.39% to 33.50%, total sulphur from 0.11 to 2.38%, ash between0.68% and 52.4%, and moisture 18.01 up to 40.18% , with vitrinite reflectance values ranges from 0.35% to 0.47% . Furthermore the feature of micro-cleats or micro-cracks from SEM analysis are dominated by strike lines although some curved and sub-curved lines are also present. Open microcleats are predominant compared to close microcleats. Based on Barbara and Winter diagram, coalbed methane content derived from the Sarolangun- Pauh coal seam is expected to be low - moderate level, with methane content is present from 2.89 m3/t to 6.02 m3/t. SBC coalfield area shows that gas content is around 338.001, 354.6234 scf, Lubuk Napal is 743.232.370, 6576 scf, whilst the Sungai Dingin about 419.343,508.7245 scf. Keywords : coal characteristics,  Sarolangun-Pauh  Region, coalbed methane (CBM).

Abstract

Nusa Penida, Lembongan and Ceningan islands consist of Pliocene reef limestone at some place. The limestone forms dolomite characterized, white in color and soft. The southern coastal of Nusa Penida Island exposed bedded limestone, re-crystallization and weakened. Karts topography widely spread in this island, however it has been eroded. The coastal zone of Nusa Penida, Lembongan and Ceningan islands have been utilized for sea water tourism and sea grass cultivation. However, these areas still have various renewable energy resources which have not yet been developed optimally. In order to support Renewable Energy Park Programs in Nusa Penida, the current energy of Ceningan strait can be used for electricity power energy. Keywords: coastal, renewable energy, current and limestone.

Abstract

The bottom sea surface sediments of Indramayu water is characterized by differences of type and distribution of these sediments. The geochemistry and index properties tests give the information about the natural condition of water content and the other physics and chemical properties of sediments. The empirical relation have been developed between index properties and general properties for land soil or sediments. Most of that empirical relationship can be applied for marine surficial sediments, because in general the terrigenous sediments that similar  with the sediments which was transported from land or coastal zone to the bottom sea. The result of geochemistry and index properties test shows that the characteristics of sediments in Indramayu sea water appear to be difference from one sample to the another sample. This condition is probably caused by the difference of distribution of clay minerals or the rock origin of sediments .Key word : Geochemistry and Index properties, clay sediments, sea bottom surface sediments.

Abstract

A Study about a depth estimation on a gravity model in Muarawahau quadrangle, East Kalimantan, by using a Spectral Analysis method is very helpful to reduce ambiguity that appears in each modeling. The qualitative analysis shows that high anomalies lay at the eastern part of  the research area with values between  10 - 55 mgal, while low gravity anomalies between  -60 to 9 mgal lay at the western area. Two groups of anomaly in this area reflect a basin and basement high which is separated by a regional strike slip fault . A Model resulted  from  East to West  profiling and supported by a Spectral Analyses Method shows that the basin is constructed by PreTertiary rocks with density of about 2.6 gr/cc and thickness approximately 5 km, experiencing tectonic deformation. The eastern high anomaly block is the reflection of ultramafik rocks and mélange with the density of about 2.65 gr/cc. Rocks in this block is partly covered by volcanic sediments abaut 500 meter thich (2.3 gr/cc). However based on the values of anomaly, those two blocks are still underlined by the same granitic continent, meanwhile the existing ultramafic rocks are only ophiolite fragmen of oceanic crust. Keywords : Gravity anomaly, depth estimation, geological model.

Abstract

The Gravity anomaly pattern of research area is devided into two groups  involving high and low anomalies. The high anomaly dominating at western and eastern area have positive circular pattern, and the value ranges from 90 mgal to 145 mgal. The east and west high anomalies are separated by low anomaly, having negative circular pattern, varies from 52 mgal to 89 mgal, and the low anomaly is located in the central area. The high anomaly patterns might be caused by andesite intrusive rocks in Karangbolong and Kulon Progo High areas, and Pratertier rock in Karangsambung area. Gravity value of Luk Ulo Complex (114 mgal) is lower than the value of intrusive rocks (145 mgal), meanwhile the negative anomaly indicates sedimentary basin. Karangbolong and Kulonprogo high and the basin are seperated by faults, such as Karangbolong and Purworejo Faults respectively. Keywords :  gravity anomaly, positive circular pattern, negative circular pattern, andesite intrusive rock, sedimentary basin, Luk Ulo Pratertier rocks, Karangbolong Fault, Purworejo Fault, Karangbolong High, Kulon Progo High.

Abstract

Based on the depositional environment, the Quaternary deposits in the study area can be divided into five groups, i.e : (a) fluvial-channel deposits, (b) floodplain deposits (c) lake deposits, (d) transition/ tidal deposits, and (e) swamp deposits. Furthermore, this Quaternary deposits represent 3 (three) depositional intervals, namely Depositional Interval I-III.The development of the Quaternary environment and changes of basin fill in the research area were influenced by tectonic and climatic changes. Changes in climatological conditions, from the humid-subhumid into dry, probably due to global climatic changes following the Milankovitch cycles. While the vertical and lateral changes of environment systems could be influenced by reactivation of Singkarak-Solok fault segment. Keywords: Quaternary, tectonic, climate, environment

Abstract

Intergrated geological and geophysical informations provide ilustration of subsurface geology of the researched area. Result of gravity modelling of the study area show several grabbens and intrusives. This structures would probably be act as trap of a geothermal potential. The young intrusive rocks beneath the Gunung Karang is interpretated as a heat sources, while the Tertiary sedimentary rocks could possibly be a reservoir. The altered volcanic rocks widely exposed in the study area may presence as a caprock. The possibility of geothermal energy potential is also indicated by the area.occurrence of several of springs exposed in the area. Keywords: intergrated geophysical information, subsurface geological structure, geothermal

Abstract

The NNE-SSW trending Citarik fault cut acrossWestern Jawa passing  through Pelabuhan ratu, Bogor and Bekasi. At least, the fault has been active since Middle Miocene tectonic period. At that time, the Citarik fault was a transtensional fault, howeversince Plio-Pleistoceneuntil Recent, thisfaults has been developed as a left strike slip fault. The active Citarik Fault may generate earthquakes, and therefore it has to becarefully considered in planning Infrastructure developmentin Jabotabekand Pelabuhan ratu (the capital of Sukabumi Districtt and a tourist area). Keywords: Citarik fault, Middle Miocene - Recent, transtensional fault, left strike slip fault

Abstract

The studied  area is located in south Kalimantan waters. Regionaly and physiographically it is an interesting location because this location is the transition area between the west and east Indonesian regions in which their geologic setting are very different. The transition area is reflected by the difference in the sea floor morphology. The bathymetry contour pattern at the western area that is part of the Sunda Shelf is reflected by a straight contour and distanlyspaced among them. Its slope is not more than 1” which is then calledas a Plain morphology unit. While the eastern area has a locally close pattern and its slope Is quitegentle. This feature is called as a Reef hilly morphology unit. Keywords: sea floor morphology unit, subsurface structure, Kalimantan

Abstract

The ignimbtrite plato of Sianok Valley at Belakang balok Village was produced by two periods of Maninjau volcanic eruptions. The two eruption periods are separated by fluvio volcanic deposits, consisting of very qoarse sand and conglomerate. The two periods pyroclatic deposits at containing pumice and locally several coal.  These pyroclatic deposits were faulted and formed terrace morphology. The Sianok Valley is considered as an effect of the reactivation of basement fault throughting the ignimbrite deposits. Keywords:morphostratigraphy , Maninjau pumice tuf, terrace, fault, plato
