Abstract

Community Service Activities are a form of community action that has a positive impact on the community through activities that benefit the surrounding environment. One example is providing educational programs such as the Dream Tree in elementary schools, which aims to foster learning motivation and encourage students to plan their dreams from an early age. This community service is carried out using a participatory method, where students write their dreams on leaf-shaped paper which is then attached to the dream tree. This activity received a positive response from students and teachers because it was able to create a pleasant learning atmosphere, increase students' self-confidence, and instill the importance of having a life goal. The results of this community service activity show that the Dream Tree is effective as an educational medium in fostering a spirit of learning and building optimism in elementary school students.

Abstract

The development of digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) demands innovation in the learning process, particularly in strengthening digital literacy and the computational thinking skills of teachers as learning designers. However, many educational institutions still face limitations in utilizing AI technology as a supporting tool for developing innovative and contextual learning media. This community service activity aims to provide training and mentoring to teachers in developing AI-assisted learning media through coding learning. The implementation method includes identifying partner needs, designing AI-based training materials, implementing training and mentoring directly, and evaluating the activity through observation and participant response questionnaires. The results of the activity show an increase in teachers' understanding and skills in utilizing AI for developing learning media, increased active participation during the training, and a positive response to the use of AI as an interactive and applicable learning medium. This activity has a positive impact on improving teachers' digital competence and becomes an alternative solution for developing innovative learning that can be implemented sustainably in educational environments.

Abstract

Village cooperatives play an important role in improving the welfare of farming communities, but are often less than optimal due to a lack of understanding of their functions and benefits. This study aims to analyze the influence of socialization regarding the establishment of the Merah Putih Village Cooperative on the benefits received by farming communities in Tanjung Rejo Village, Dusun I, Percut Sei Tuan District. The community service methods used were socialization, discussion, and structured interviews with 30 farmer respondents who are members of the cooperative. The results of the study indicate that the socialization carried out had a significant positive influence on farmers' understanding of the function of cooperatives, thereby increasing the benefits received, including access to affordable capital, a supply of quality seeds and fertilizers, and better marketing of crops. Before the socialization, only 23% of farmers understood the benefits of cooperatives, while after the socialization, this increased to 87%. The conclusion of this study is that effective socialization can enhance the role of cooperatives as institutions for economic empowerment of farming communities.

Abstract

This community service program was implemented at Klinik Wonosari Aek Kanopan, a micro-enterprise in Aek Kanopan Village, Kualuh Hulu  District, North Labuhanbatu Regency, which faced a major issue of limited financial literacy of a systematic recording system. Thus, this community service activity aims to increase the knowledge of business actors in managing business finances, in order to obtain optimal business financial performance.The activities consisted of preliminary surveys, training, mentoring, and evaluation, focusing on the separation of personal and business finances, transaction recording, Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) calculation, and simple profit–loss analysis. The results indicated a significant improvement in the business owner’s understanding, with a 38% increase in the post-test score compared to the pre-test. Furthermore, the business began implementing real-time financial records, evaluating sales targets, and determining prices based on factual data. These findings highlight the importance of financial literacy in supporting the sustainability of micro-enterprises and their contribution to family welfare and the local economy.
