Abstract

Song lyrics are one of the linguistic media to analyze since it contains so many analysis possibilities in it and one of them is metaphor. This study is aimed to analyze the lyrics from a song by Frank Ocean entitled Pink + White by using Lakoff and Johnson's metaphors analysis method. The purposes of the study are (1) to describe the metaphors contained in the lyrics and (2) to determine the function of them. A descriptive qualitative method was used in this research to find metaphors in the lyrics. This research explores the use of Lakoff and Johnson’s source and target domain theory in analyzing the lyrics, and how the semantics approach helps to find the function of each metaphor found in the lyrics. The conclusion from this research is the lyrics employed metaphors along with the conceptual metaphor in it and several functions occurred along with the metaphor to help the listeners understand the meaning.

Abstract

Riko The Series is an Educational animated children's series and presents scientific content related to the Qur’an (Quranic Sciences) in each episode. The purposes of this study are to translate the transcript of an animated short film entitled “My Father Is My Heroand Special Gift”, to explain the translation process, techniques, obstacles, and solutions. The method used in translating Animated Short Film Riko the Series is literature study and direct practice. The translation of this short film “Riko the Series” consists of several steps, they were analyzing the short film Riko the Series, transferring the message from the source language to the target language, restructuring the message contained in the source language, and evaluating the results of the translation. The translation techniques used in this study were amplification, variation, transposition, borrowing, and literal translation.During the direct practice, the obstacles faced were the lack of vocabulary, the difficulty in finding the right diction, and the difficulty in equating the accuracy of subtitles with the timeliness of film dialogue. To overcome the obstacles the solutions were looking for terms in the target language from words that are not understood with the help of a dictionary, and learning the features contained in the Aegisub application.

Abstract

This study is a descriptive qualitative method, which is describes about the situation and the data obtained during observations and questions. It becomes useful information and will be easily understood by readers. The purpose of this study was to identify and obtain information about the implementation of the independent curriculum in sekolah penggerak.. This study explains and provides about the implementation of the independent curriculum in “sekolah penggerak”. The results of this study was the the implementation of the curriculum in the “sekolah penggerak” has been carried out optimally and is ongoing, although in practice there are still many shortcomings and obstacles. The way to be success of implementing the curriculum in “sekolah penggerak” is that the headmaster and teachers must have the will to do changes. The headmaster as a leader must be able to change the mindset of the Human Resources in the school to want to do changes so that the independent curriculum can be applied.

Abstract

This study is entitled “Translating Climate Change Texts of Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) Website from English Into Indonesian.” This text was chosen because it is informative and very relevant to the problems in the world that it feels can provide benefits for the readers. This text describes how dangerous climate change is and how the NRDC organization seeks to protect the world, people, plants, animals, and the natural systems on which all life depends. The purpose of implementing this study is to translate texts and apply the translation knowledge gained during the lecture period. This translation process has been carried out from September until December 2022. There were four stages in translating these texts: analysis stage, transfer stage, restructuring stage, evaluation, and revision stage. The analysis stage at this stage reads the entire transcript, the transfer stage is carried out on the brain to analyze and translate the SL to TL, and the restructuring at this stage, the text that has been translated at the transfer stage attempts to restructure. Evaluation and revision, at this stage the evaluation and revision of the translation results are carried out by reading carefully if after rereading there are still words or sentences that are mistranslated, revisions are made to achieve the natural result. During the translation process of the text on climate change from the NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council) website for example, The obstacles were within selecting the precise word from the source language into the target language, a less-known of understanding of the specific terminology used when translating climate change texts, and limited knowledge of source language idioms which hindered the translation process. The solutions to overcome the obstacles are: consulting with the supervisors, understanding the words or sentences the approach taken during the translation process, look for idiom words in online or offline dictionaries.
