Abstract

The purpose of writing this article is to find out the standard of service in English and the ability of Java Heritage Hotel employees to speak English. Hotel Java Heritage is one of the 4-star hotels in Purwokerto. Hotel Java Heritage provides a variety of facilities and services provided for the satisfaction of guests staying at the hotel. This hotel is not only visited by domestic guests, but also visited by foreign guests. The use of English in the hotel environment is very important as a means of communication and good service to foreign guests. Hotel employees, especially the front office, use English as a medium to communicate with these guests. However, the different educational backgrounds of hotel front office employees make each employee have different English skills, especially in communicating using English. In communicating in English, front office employees face several obstacles, such as when a foreign guest speaks, the employee cannot understand the meaning because the guest speaks too fast and the lack of English vocabulary or vocabulary makes it difficult for employees to pronounce a word or sentence. Therefore, to improve employees' English skills, the hotel management can provide intensive English training or courses to employees

Abstract

Tourist Information Center is a facility that provides specific information about local area, tourism attractive, festival, and service. Malioboro Tourist Information Center has the main purpose of helping and facilitating tourist in carrying out their tourist activities. Tourist Information Center as information center also provides print media as promotional media. The purposes of this artcle are to know how the English offering strategies of tourism object in Yogyakarta through Malioboro Tourist Information Center, and to know the difficulties in using English. The strategy that used by TIC officers in providing tourist attraction offers is to know the wishes of tourists and use print media for travel promotion. The strategy aims to promote tourism to tourists who are interested in visiting tourism in Yogyakarta. The author use interview methods, observation methods and literature review method to search the offering strategies. The obstacles faced by the Tourist Information Center officers in providing tourism objects are language barriers, travel planning obstacles and the limitation of print media

Abstract

This article is entitled "Application for Ayo Wisata to Cilacap in Mandarin at the Department of Youth, Sports and Tourism of Cilacap Regency". This application is only available in Indonesian. This causes foreign tourists to find the problem of not being able to convey information clearly. Cilacap is one of the areas visited by many Chinese people both for work and for tourism. One of them is because they work at PLTU Cilacap. To fill their spare time or vacation when they are not working, they usually go to visit tourist destinations in Cilacap. The visit of Chinese tourists to Cilacap tourist destinations decreased during the Covid 19 pandemic. Therefore, in order to continue to provide tourism services as an effort to promote tourist destinations in Cilacap, the Let's Travel To Cilacap application was made in the Chinese version. This of course helps a lot of Chinese tourists, whether in Indonesia or in China, can still get this information easily. This video is made visually using the method of voiceover and subtitles. This, in addition to improving tourism services in Cilacap, also makes it easier for Chinese tourists to visually identify tourist attractions in Cilacap

Abstract

This article is written based on a job training done at the international airport of Adi Soemarmo. The focus is to figure out the English pronunciation of the customer service staff when they help tourists find information. The data is collected by observation, interview, and literary study. The result shows that, in general, foreign tourists are happy when the customer service staff can communicate using the English language. However, the staff still find problems especially when tourists cannot speak English or when seeing unfriendly tourists. Thus, it is suggested that the customer service staff keep improving their English skills and behave in a pleasant way to tourists.

Abstract

The purposes of this study were to find out how to guide foreign tourist in Prambanan Temple, the technique that must be used to guide, the obstacles faced by guides when guiding foreign tourists and to find out the solutions to deal with that obstacle.The author used several methods such as observation, interview, documentation and literature. Giving information in English were divided into two categories, those are direct and indirect method. There are several steps in practice of providing information in English such as giving a smile and greeting, offering assistance, giving information about Prambanan relief, saying goodbye and asking tourists to give some critics and suggestions.There were obstacles when the guides gave information to tourists such as, experiencing nervousness when guiding, lack of information boards in each temple and relief, and lack of mastery of the material. However, there are solutions to overcome these obstacles, such as conducting a briefing before guiding activities, making information boards, conducting routine evaluations and determining the standardization of knowledge forvisitors

Abstract

The purposes of this study is to make English promotion content on Instagram account @serulingmas_zoo, to know the problem and to overcome the problems in making English promotion content on Serulingmas Banjarnegara Interactive Zoo’s official Instagram account. The data was collected through direct practice method, observation method, documentation method and interview method. There were five contents uploaded on Instagram, three photos in the feed, one video in the feed and one Insta story which includes bilingual promotion content. Several obstacles found in the making English promotion on Instagram such as writing short captions that include all the information needed, choosing the diction and writing bilingual captions. However, there are also solutions to overcome those problems such as writing effective sentences, looking for references and using conversational sentences. The engagement of English promotion on Instagram increased. It can be seen from the increasing number of likes in the posts.

Abstract

Tulisan berjudul “Penerjemahan Brosur Layanan Keimigrasian Berbahasa Mandarin Di Kantor Imigrasi Kelas 1 TPI Yogyakarta”, merupakan hasil egiatan praktik kerja yang dilakukan di Kantor Imigrasi Kelas I TPI Yogyakarta, pada tanggal 11 Januari – 16 April 2021. Praktik kerja ini bertujuan untuk menerjemahkan brosur layanan keimigrasian dari bahasa Indonesia ke bahasa Mandarin. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan oleh penulis adalah metode observasi partisipan, studi pustaka, jelajah internet, dan wawancara. Dalam proses penerjemahan penulis menggunakan metode adaptasi sebagai metode utama dan metode harfiah sebagai metode pendukung. Ada tiga tahap dalam melaksanakan penerjemahan yaitu tahap analisis, tahap transfer, dan tahap restrukturisasi. Hasil dari kegiatan praktik kerja ini penulis adalah berupa terjemahan brosur layanan keimigrasian dari bahasa Indonesia ke bahasa Mandarin di Kantor Imigrasi Kelas I TPI Yogyakarta . Penerjemahan brosur ini bertujuan sebagai upaya meningkatkan pelayanan wisatawan asing China.

Abstract

The purpose of this study were to find out the use of English in the stay permit section, and to find out the solution to deal with the obstacles of using English in the stay permit section to improve the quality of information services in the immigration office. The Author use several methods such as observation, literature studies, and interviews. The use of English in the stay permit information service is good enough but there are some additions so that the information to be conveyed can be fully conveyed by by giving information about stay permit requirements, immigration stay permit flow, and to fill out the forms. The obstacles and solutions such as limitations in international language, and information. The solution to this problem is to increase vocabulary, often practice listening to the accents of other countries, and using body language. The second is a limitation of information is by finding out in conveying information to provide good and clear information to visitors.

Abstract

This article is entitled Translating Animation by Eki N. F., Deddy Otara, and Zulfa Asliha entitled “Eyang Habibie” Adit Sopo Jarwo. The purpose of translates Adit Sopo Jarwo’s animation"Eyang Habibie" into English because it presents many cultures in Indonesia and the important aspect of this animation movie is how they respect each other’s differences in their cultures. Therefore, this animation is an interesting object to be translated so as to be enjoyed by foreign viewers. In the process of translating there were several obstacles which included, translator’s limited knowledge of vocabulary in the target language and source language, difficulty in determiningthe equivalent of words in the Target language to be communicative, and difficulty in using "aegisub" subtitle application to equate what the characters say with the subtitles. Anyway, they were solved by using a dictionary to find out words/vocabularies that were not understood, searching the equivalent in the Target Language and then consulting with the proofreader to determining the communicative equivalent then using it in the Target language and also learning about the features available in subtitle application called "aegisub".

Abstract

This job training report was entitled “Designing English Visiting Banyumas Application to Promote Tourist Destinations”. The writer conducted job training started on Monday, February 1st, 2021, to Sunday, February 28th, 2021. The purpose of implementing the job training was to help the Banyumas Tourism, Sport, and Youth Office create a tourism promotion strategy in digital form. Banyumas has many beautiful tourist objects that were still not widely known by the public. Therefore, an application called Visiting Banyumas was created. This android-based application was created to make it easier for the public to get complete information about tourist attractions that are effective, massive, fast, and cheap.The method of making this application used the Waterfall method. This method could also be referred to as a linear sequential model or a classical life cycle. The approach used was a software approach sequentially starting from analysis, design, construction, testing, and maintenance. The implementation of this job training resulted in the Visiting Banyumas application, which could be downloaded for free on the Google Play Store. Six important aspects in the application are tourist objects and their history, tourist villages, culture, art, culinary, tourism, admin phone numbers, accommodation, and directions. All of these aspects contained titles, photos, and complete explanations. The latest news is contained in the application. The bookmark feature in the application could also help users to more easily access the application. This application is expected to help attract tourists to visit the Banyumas area. In addition, this application also uses English, which could be easily accessed and understood by foreign tourists. That is way, it could increase the number of foreign tourists who wanted to enjoy some of the beautiful places in Banyumas.
