Abstract

Energy Security can be described as a concept that ensures the amount of energy supply needed by a country is sufficient to encourage development and maintain the welfare of its people. The purpose of this study is to analyze the implications of conflicts that occur in the South China Sea region on countries around the region to obtain and fulfill their country's energy security. The method used in this research is a qualitative method based on the Regional Security Complex theory. The results of this research indicate that the ongoing conflict in the South China Sea region is a hindrance for the surrounding countries to explore the natural resources stored in the region.

Abstract

This article examines the continuity and evolution of Indonesia's 'free and active' (bebas-aktif) foreign policy from its constitutional foundations to its articulation under President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) and Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa. The purpose of this study is to explain the constitutional and ideological basis of Indonesia's foreign policy, the centrality of ASEAN within it, the domestic institutional factors that shape it, and how the doctrine was reinterpreted through the metaphors of "navigating a turbulent ocean" and "dynamic equilibrium." This study employs a qualitative descriptive method based on library and documentary research, drawing on primary legal and political documents as well as secondary academic literature. The findings show that Indonesia's foreign policy is anchored in the Preamble of the 1945 Constitution, that ASEAN functions as an indispensable diplomatic and security buffer, that Commission I of the House of Representatives has become an increasingly influential domestic actor since the enactment of Law No. 37/1999, and that the Yudhoyono-Natalegawa era reaffirmed rather than abandoned the bebas-aktif principle by adapting it to a more multipolar regional order. The article further situates these findings in relation to more recent scholarship to show that the doctrine has persisted, in adapted form, into the Jokowi and Prabowo presidencies. This study is limited by its reliance on documentary sources rather than primary interviews and does not provide a comprehensive comparative assessment of Indonesian foreign policy after 2014.

Abstract

Christian Zionism has become one of the most influential religious-political ideologies shaping Western support for Israel, particularly in the United States. This article examines how Christian Zionist beliefs have contributed to the persistence of the Israeli–Palestinian conflict by providing theological and political legitimacy for unconditional support of Israel. Employing a qualitative literature review and historical analysis, the study traces the origins of Christian Zionism from the Protestant Reformation through nineteenth-century dispensationalism and explores its theological foundations, including Biblical Zionism and Dispensationalist Zionism. The findings demonstrate that Christian Zionist interpretations of biblical prophecy encourage political mobilization, financial assistance, and lobbying efforts in support of Israeli policies while reinforcing anti-Islamic narratives that deepen polarization and hinder prospects for peace. The study argues that the fusion of religious doctrine with foreign policy has transformed a territorial dispute into a broader religious and ideological confrontation, making conflict resolution increasingly difficult. It concludes that sustainable peace requires reframing the Israeli–Palestinian conflict as a political and territorial dispute rather than a theological struggle, while reducing external ideological intervention that perpetuates mutual hostility. This analysis highlights the significant role of transnational religious ideology in influencing international politics and the dynamics of protracted conflict.
