Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of inquiry and discovery methods in Natural Science (Science) learning at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah based on a literature review. The research method employed is library research, with data sources obtained from reputable journals and relevant books discussing inquiry and discovery methods. The results of the review indicate that inquiry and discovery methods contribute positively to the science learning process. The inquiry method encourages students to actively ask questions, observe, and systematically investigate problems, while the discovery method enables students to find new concepts through exploration and experimentation. Both methods play an important role in enhancing students’ critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and conceptual understanding. In addition, the literature reveals that the application of these methods can increase students’ learning motivation, as they are directly involved in the learning process. However, the successful implementation of these methods largely depends on the teacher’s role in designing structured learning activities that support student exploration. This study provides insights into the importance of applying inquiry and discovery methods in science learning at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. The findings are expected to serve as a reference for teachers and educational practitioners in developing more innovative and effective learning strategies.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the condition of Islamic education, which is often limited to educational practice and has not yet reached the fulfillment of a clear spiritual–religious (ruḥāniyyah Islāmiyyah) connectedness. In addition, the slow growth and development of Islamic education did not only occur during the medieval period but continues to persist in the present era. In general, his thoughts on Islamic education were strongly influenced by the ideas of Ibn Sina, Ibn Miskawaih, Imam al-Ghazali, and Ibn Khaldun. Meanwhile, ‘Athiyah Al-Abrasyi was an Egyptian scholar, educational figure, Islamic scholar, and professor. This research employs a literature study method with a systematic qualitative approach using the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) framework. Data were collected from classical Islamic scholarly texts (kutub al-turāth) of early Muslim scholars as well as from research articles published between 2015 and 2023 in national and reputable international journals. The findings of this study conclude that: (1) the concept of learning objectives proposed by ‘Athiyah Al-Abrasyi primarily focuses on the development of the soul and moral character; however, other objectives remain essential and should not be neglected. These supporting objectives include maintaining a balance between worldly and hereafter interests, considering practical benefits, pursuing knowledge for its own sake, and emphasizing vocational and technical education as a means of earning a livelihood; (2) the concept of educators according to ‘Athiyah Al-Abrasyi is not limited to the enhancement of professional competence. Educators must also possess ideal moral qualities so that they are respected, obeyed, and able to serve as exemplary role models in both conduct and behavior; and (3) the concept of learners according to ‘Athiyah Al-Abrasyi emphasizes that learners possess both rights and obligations, which serve as guiding principles for Islamic education.

Abstract

The development of puzzle-based memory game learning media for Grade 5 students at SD IT Al Furqon is based on a phenomenon observed at the school, namely the suboptimal use of learning media. This condition occurs because teachers tend to focus more on classroom management, and the learning process still relies heavily on assignments, resulting in teachers utilizing the surrounding environment as the primary learning medium. The objectives of this study are: (1) to describe the Research and Development (R&D) process in developing memory game learning media for the Shorof subject for Grade 5 students at SD IT Al Furqon; and (2) to describe the effectiveness of using memory game learning media in the Shorof subject for Grade 5 students at SD IT Al Furqon. The type of research used is Research and Development (R&D). According to Sugiyono, R&D is a research method aimed at producing specific products and testing their effectiveness. The development and research stages were adapted from Thiagarajan’s 4-D development model, which consists of: (1) the Define stage, including initial analysis, learner analysis, concept analysis, task analysis, and formulation of learning objectives; (2) the Design stage, including test preparation, media selection, and format selection; (3) the Develop stage, including expert validation, limited trials, and further trials; and (4) the Disseminate stage. The subsequent stages involved product trial design, trial subjects, and product revisions, including revisions by material experts and media experts. The results of the validation showed that the developed memory game media obtained an average percentage score of 96.3% from media experts, categorized as “very feasible for use.” Material experts provided an average percentage score of 89%, also categorized as “very feasible.” The overall average feasibility score was 92.7%, indicating that the media is suitable for use. Furthermore, educator responses yielded an average percentage of 92% with a “very feasible” category, while student responses showed an average percentage of 89.1%, also categorized as “very feasible.” In addition, the results of the pretest and posttest analysis showed an N-gain score of 0.71 or 71.85%. These results indicate that the developed product falls into the “high” category and demonstrates an “effective” level of effectiveness.

Abstract

Learning media is one of the important factors that play a crucial role in the teaching and learning process. In instruction, teachers usually use learning media as an intermediary to deliver material so that it can be well understood by students. The learning conditions at MI PSM Dadapan, especially in the IPAS subject (Natural and Social Sciences), are still conducted conventionally, namely through lecture-based methods. The limited use of learning media causes students to experience boredom. The media to be developed in this study is a needs quartet card medium, hereinafter referred to as KAREB media (Needs Quartet Cards). This study aims to determine the development of KAREB learning media in the Grade IV IPAS subject on the topic “Me and My Needs” at MI PSM Dadapan and to examine students’ learning motivation toward the use of KAREB learning media in the same subject and topic. This research employs a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE development model, which includes the stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. Data collection instruments consist of interviews, observations, questionnaires, and documentation. The data analysis techniques used are qualitative and quantitative analysis. The subjects of this study were 19 students. The result of this research and development is a set of needs quartet cards consisting of 44 cards and one card box. Product validation by material and media experts obtained an overall average percentage score of 90.50%, indicating that the media is highly feasible for use. Student responses showed a percentage of 99.12%, teacher responses reached 98.94%, and students’ motivation level achieved a percentage of 98.42%. Therefore, the KAREB learning media (Needs Quartet Cards) is considered suitable for use as an instructional medium.

Abstract

The development of Smart Box learning media for Grade II students at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Al-Karim was based on several challenges encountered in the learning process, namely the failure to achieve learning objectives, particularly in the Civic Education subject on the topic of Pancasila as the foundation of the state. In addition, the limited availability of learning media due to inadequate facilities and the continued use of assignment-based learning methods led teachers to utilize the surrounding environment as learning media. The objectives of this study are as follows: (1) to develop visual learning media in the form of a Smart Box for the topic of Pancasila as the foundation of the state for Grade II students at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Al-Karim; (2) to describe the validity of the developed Smart Box learning media on the topic of Pancasila as the foundation of the state for Grade II students at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Al-Karim; and (3) to describe the results of the trial implementation of the Smart Box learning media on the topic of Pancasila as the foundation of the state for Grade II students at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Al-Karim Senggowar Gondang. The research method employed in this study is the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) using a Research and Development (R&D) research design. The subjects of this study were 20 Grade II students at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Al-Karim. Data collection methods included observation, interviews, and questionnaires. Observations were conducted to examine teaching and learning activities and to analyze students’ characteristics. Interviews were conducted with the Grade II teacher to identify the needs of both students and teachers in the learning process, while questionnaires were distributed to material experts, media experts, teachers, and students. Overall, the research results show that the media expert validation test achieved a percentage score of 98%, while the material expert validation test reached 96%. Student responses to the media reached 92% in the first trial stage and increased to 98% in the second trial stage, indicating a “very good” qualification in which students were able to understand the material and use the media effectively. Meanwhile, the teacher’s response to the media reached 90%. Therefore, the Smart Box learning media is considered highly feasible for use as an instructional medium.
