Abstract

A waste bank is a place for sorting and collecting waste that can be recycled or has economic value. The waste bank in Kraton Village functions to manage community waste. However, waste management in Kraton Village was stopped due to the Covid pandemic in 2022. The cessation of the waste bank's duties resulted in a buildup of waste at the waste bank's base camp. Therefore, efforts are needed to reactivate the Kraton Village waste bank program to realize better waste management. This effort was carried out in stages over approximately five weeks. The results of this activity began to be seen in the second stage, namely assistance from the Kraton Village waste bank. This series of activities resulted in the regeneration of the Kraton Village waste bank to be better and of maximum benefit. This is proven by the reduction in waste accumulation and waste management as a job that can become an economic field for village communities.

Abstract

Kembiritan Village is one of the villages in Genteng District, Banyuwangi Regency, East Java Province, which holds abundant cultural wealth and natural potential. This natural potential is also supported by human resources who are able to make various processed food products that have a selling value and are able to compete widely. However, the knowledge of the Kembiritan community regarding good packaging and branding methods is still very minimal, so this Real Work Lecture (KKN) program was focused on increasing the community's knowledge and skills in this regard. One Dusun One Product (ODOP) is a work program that focuses on motivating each hamlet to produce at least one product that has a selling value, which will later be assisted and fostered so that it can compete with other products. A total of 21 local MSME products have been successfully recorded and fostered by UMD 316 KKN Students, starting from selecting attractive and appropriate packaging, designing and printing stickers, as well as bridging transactions, until finally being sold through BUMDes retail stores. This work program received a positive response from the local community. Later, this work program will be continued and developed by BUMDes as an effort to increase village income while improving the welfare of MSMEs in Kembiritan Village.

Abstract

Waste management in urban areas is a serious issue if it is not handled properly and with special attention to management activities. Properly managed waste can provide economic value if it is sorted and processed at the source. The Waste Bank “BERSERI” in Burengan Village, Kediri City, plays an important role in reducing the amount of waste in urban areas through a participatory approach to the community. This community service activity aimed to provide an overview of waste management activities at the Waste Bank and to outline the involvement of the community and relevant parties in supporting waste management activities at the Waste Bank “BERSERI” in Kediri City. The community service activities conducted by the Service Team included discussions and interviews during a visit to the BERSERI Waste Bank location. The results of the interviews indicated that the Waste Bank “BERSERI” has collected various types of inorganic waste through mechanisms including sorting, weighing, recording, and distributing the proceeds from waste sales to customers. The waste collected has also been recycled into valuable products, both from inorganic and organic waste. The existence of waste bank management heavily depends on active community participation and the roles of various parties, including the government, universities, and the private sector.

Abstract

In the issues present in the village of Wonojati, Gondangwetan District, Pasuruan, they are still related to suboptimal waste management and the low ecological awareness of the community. This situation encourages students from the Community Service Program of Jember University to implement an integrated community service program with the theme "Wonojati Village Towards Sustainable Independence." The methods used include surveys and village coordination, environmental literacy based on children's understanding to instill environmental awareness from an early age, the establishment of a village waste bank as a sorting center, training on Black Soldier Fly (BSF) maggot cultivation to process organic waste while also supplementing feed for catfish, as well as training in making ecoenzymes. The produced maggots can replace up to 50% of pellet feed in catfish farming, thus reducing production costs. Processed products in the form of catfish flakes and catfish roll cakes are then strengthened through branding and digitalization of MSMEs with the creation of logos and geotagging business locations. The results show an increase in ecological awareness, a reduction in waste volume, cost efficiency in animal feed, and an improvement in the competitiveness of MSME products. In conclusion, the integration of literacy, waste management, and the digitalization of MSMEs can strengthen the economic and ecological independence of communities towards sustainable villages
