Abstract

Objective: This paper examines the shift from top-down security systems to community-driven mechanisms for peace-building and assesses their relevance to sustaining human security in the Niger Delta. Method: Using ideas from human security and bottom-up peacebuilding, the paper adopts a qualitative approach. Results: It argues that traditional state-centric strategies, which are sometimes militarized or transactional, have missed the structural reasons of local grievances, including economic marginalization, environmental damage and erosion of traditional governance. The paper reveals that indigenous conflict-resolution methods, like community-monitored development trusts, youth-led environmental advocacy and models mandated from outside, are more resilient and credible than others imposed from outside. These natural forms promote ownership, hence reduce sabotage and social conflicts. Two major obstacles underlined in the research are the gatekeeper phenomenon and the continuous partisan-interest encroachment threatening communal cohesiveness. Novelty: Nigeria’s security strategy must move from protecting oil infrastructure to protecting community livelihoods in order for human security to be sustainable.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to examine the conceptual framework of Iʿjāz al-Qur’an and to explain its function in revealing the distinctiveness of the Qur’an from multiple dimensions, including linguistic, stylistic, structural, scientific, and epistemological aspects. Method: Employing a qualitative-descriptive approach through library research, this study analyzes both classical and contemporary scholarly sources related to ʿUlūm al-Qur’an and Islamic studies. Results: The findings indicate that the science of Iʿjāz al-Qur’an functions not merely as a theological tool for affirming the authenticity of revelation, but also as a methodological framework that enhances a rational and contextual understanding of the Qur’anic message. Through its multidimensional analysis, Iʿjāz al-Qur’an bridges revelation, reason, and empirical reality, thereby maintaining its relevance in addressing contemporary intellectual challenges. Consequently, the science of Iʿjāz al-Qur’an plays a strategic role in strengthening religious faith while simultaneously fostering integrative and dynamic approaches to Qur’anic studies. Novelty: The science of Iʿjāz al-Qur’an constitutes a fundamental discipline within Qur’anic studies that seeks to uncover the unique and inimitable nature of the Qur’an as divine revelation.

Abstract

Objective:  The objective of presenting the Kupatan tradition through a docudrama film format is to disseminate information and encourage community reflection on the practice. Method: The selection of a docudrama as the medium is predicated on its capacity to visually and audibly depict communal activities, while simultaneously offering participants a novel experiential opportunity in the filmmaking process. The docudrama employs an essayistic approach to its narrative structure, enabling comprehensive coverage of events organized either chronologically or thematically. The pre-production phase involves detailed planning and preparation related to the production process, whereas the production phase constitutes the execution of these plans. Results: The Kupatan tradition is a cultural practice observed by the Javanese community on the seventh day following Eid al-Fitr. This tradition involves serving ketupat snacks as part of the kenduri ceremony, alongside activities such as fostering social ties, almsgiving, and mutual forgiveness, which collectively embody the symbolic significance of Kupatan. Novelty: The selection of a docudrama as the medium is predicated on its capacity to visually and audibly depict communal activities, while simultaneously offering participants a novel experiential opportunity in the filmmaking process.

Abstract

Objective: This study examines the strengthening of legal protections for child custody and maintenance following divorce in Bireuen Regency. The research aims to identify the factual outcomes of the Bireuen Syariah Court rulings, analyze obstacles to the enforcement of child maintenance, propose ideal solutions, and describe the contributions of legal reforms. Method: Employing a qualitative field research approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. Results: Data from the Bireuen Syariah Court for the period 2021-2025 records 650 cases concerning divorce and child custody claims; however, only 25% of child maintenance orders have been effectively enforced. The findings indicate that: (1) the Bireuen Syariah Court consistently awards custody rights to mothers and maintenance obligations to fathers, yet compliance rates remain low; (2) primary challenges include legal, economic, and social factors; (3) ideal solutions involve strengthening regulations, implementing wage garnishment for child support, and enhancing mediation processes; (4) legal reforms have contributed to increased legal awareness, improved mediation practices, reinforcement of customary and Sharia law, and greater access to justice. Novelty: The study recommends stricter supervision of court order enforcement and a multidimensional approach to safeguard children's rights post-divorce.

Abstract

Objective: This paper explored the Iranian strategic discourse and defensive stance in relation to the U.S.Israel war, and how perceptions, reasons and implications in the region influenced its actions. Method: Based on the Realist theory and the principle of a security dilemma, the study examined the hybrid military approach of Iran, integrating defensive, asymmetric, and proxy warfare to maintain sovereignty and prevent foreign aggression. The study employed a qualitative approach that relies on secondary sources; such as academic literature, policy statements, and regional accounts on the interplay between the ideological narrative of defense, legitimacy, and resistance of Iran and its behavioral patterns. Results: The research showed that there is a considerable gap in perceptions: in the United States and Israel, the same actions were interpreted as signs of expansionist intentions and destabilizing actions, which would strengthen the security dilemma, whereas Iran saw the same actions as defensive ones and the need to preserve the regime. The discussion has indicated that the strategic narrative of Iran has been the key to justification of its policy in the domestic context and persuasion of the international audience, but it has not been effective in all cases and circumstances. The paper came to the conclusion that the strategic discourse and defensive stance of Iran could not be separated, and ideology, perception, and operational behavior were all integrated in the Iranian security policy. Its compromise nature helped Iran to survive in a hostile region without being deterred, but at the same time, created more tension with its opponents because of conflicting interpretations. On the basis of these results, the study suggested creating a multilateral dialogue platform to clarify the intentions and enhance the communication process, creating defensive strategies to combat hybrid threats and asymmetric operations, and enhancing the strategic narrative through transparency, public diplomacy, and information campaigns based on research. Such steps would help to increase mutual understanding, decrease the number of misperceptions, and help to create a more stable regional security environment. Novelty: Based on the Realist theory and the principle of a security dilemma, the study examined the hybrid military approach of Iran, integrating defensive, asymmetric, and proxy warfare to maintain sovereignty and prevent foreign aggression.

Abstract

Objective : The given article deals with the problem of national-cultural markedness of colloquial vocabulary as a functional-semantic and culture-specific, linguistically conditioned phenomenon reflecting the collective experience, social norms and culturally specific modes of conceptualization. Method : The article inspired by theoretical ideas from linguoculturology, sociolinguistics and pragmatics explores the national-cultural determinants of semantics, pragmatics and employs colloquial expressions in modern English language. Results : Evidence illustrates the codification of value judgments, social relationships, and shared background knowledge in terms of cultural coding in colloquial units. The results show that informal lexis is a major site of cultural specificity and until recently has been fraught with translation, lexicographic and cross-cultural issues. Novelty : They explore colloquial units both as informal lexical items and as the carriers of cultural meanings inscribed in everyday interaction.

Abstract

Objective: Brain Drain is defined as the large scale emigration of highly skilled and educated individuals from developing nations, remains a critical factor contributing to Africa’s underdevelopment. The paper examines how the persistent loss of talent weakens key sectors including healthcare, education, and Public Administration, resulting in reduced productivity and poor service delivery in many African countries. Method: The paper adopts dependency theory as its theoretical framework as put forward by Andre Gunder Frank. Frank believed that the world is divided into core (developed countries) and periphery (developing countries), and that underdevelopment in poorer countries is the result of their historical and economic dependence on richer countries. Results: The shortage of qualified personnel exacerbates poverty, limits innovation, and hinders sustainable development. Furthermore, the financial investment made by government in educating these professionals yields little return, as the benefits are transferred to host countries. Despite some potentials advantages, such as remittance and knowledge transfer through diaspora networks, the negative impacts of brain drain outweigh its benefits. Novelty: The way forward/recommendation is that all hope for development in Africa is not lost, but deliberate efforts must be made by African state to define in clear terms their development objectives, improve local working conditions, increase investment in infrastructure, promote political stability, and create opportunities for professional growth within the continent.
