Abstract

Nursing is one of the jobs with shift work rhythm. Shift work is one of the factors that affect sleep quality. Poor sleep quality is thought to have an impact on decreasing nurse performance, while one of the main factors that determines patient safety is nurse performance. The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between sleep quality and nurse performance, especially in the inpatient room. The research method used correlation analysis with a cross-sectional approach with a sample of 35 nurses who were all inpatient ward nurses. Data collection was carried out by filling out the PSQI questionnaire and the nurse performance questionnaire. The analysis test used the Chi Square test. The results of this study showed that 30 respondents (85.7%) had poor sleep quality and 19 respondents (54.3%) had poor performance. The results of the analysis showed that there was a relationship between nurse sleep quality (p value = 0.008 <0.05). It can be concluded that poor sleep quality has the potential to reduce nurse performance. Therefore, interventions are needed to improve nurse sleep quality in order to improve their performance in providing health services.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a global public health problem characterized by high mortality and prevalence. One type of pharmacological treatment for diabetes mellitus is insulin injection therapy. Experience in performing self-administered insulin injection therapy is still found obstacles that must be considered so as not to affect the effectiveness of insulin injection therapy. This study aims to determine the experience of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in carrying out insulin self-injection therapy. The research design used qualitative methods and data collection was carried out in the UPT Puskesmas Sukorejo and Sananwetan areas of Blitar City and the data collection time was carried out in March 2024. The data were analyzed by reducing the data, presenting the data in the form of transcripts and described descriptively. The research results showed that all participants had fulfilled the cognitive aspects as evidenced by knowing the definition and type of insulin used. In the affective aspect, it was stated that all participants felt comfortable and felt healthier when carrying out insulin injection therapy but there were mental problems when diagnosed with diabetes mellitus and when injecting insulin themselves. In the psychomotor aspect, all participants have performed insulin injection skills correctly but there are some mistakes that must be considered.

Abstract

Diabetes distress can significantly impact a person's mental health and motivation to manage the disease. Family support can reduce diabetes distress by providing comfort and understanding. This study aims to determine the relationship between family support and diabetes distress in type-2 diabetes mellitus patients at PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping Hospital, Indonesia. This study adopted a descriptive correlational design with a cross-sectional design. Samples were taken by accidental sampling technique from the population of outpatients at the PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping Hospital Polyclinic, with 107 respondents. The research instrument used was a family support questionnaire and the Diabetes Distress Scale-17. Data analysis was performed using Kendall's Tau correlation test. The results showed that most respondents had good family support (88.8%) and no distress (58.9%). Kendall's Tau correlation test showed a significant relationship between family support and diabetes distress with a P value = 0.014 and a correlation coefficient = 0.229. There is a significant correlation between family support and diabetes distress in patients with type-2 diabetes mellitus at PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping Hospital. Good family support can reduce diabetes distress in patients.

Abstract

Vulnus Laceratum is a disruption of the continuity of tissue so that there is a separation of tissue that was initially normal; torn wounds occur due to severe violence that severs the tissue. Vulnus Laceratum is the third most common type of injury in Indonesia, with a percentage of 23.2%. Nursing problems that often arise in patients with vulnus laceratum are acute pain, impaired skin and tissue integrity, and risk of infection. The knowledge and role of nurses are essential in the rapid treatment of vulnus laceratum patients at risk of bleeding, infection and even disability. This case study aims to analyze the application of nursing care to patients with vulnus laceratum. Nursing care methods using the SDKI, SLKI, and SIKI approaches. The results of the assessment obtained four male patients, the cause of vulnus laceratum 2 cases due to vehicle accidents, 1 case due to blunt objects, and 1 case due to sharp objects. The nursing diagnoses that appear are impaired skin and tissue integrity, acute pain, risk of ineffective cerebral perfusion, and risk of infection. Nursing interventions include wound care, wound suturing, pain management, vital sign monitoring, and infection prevention. During the implementation process, all interventions were carried out. Evaluation of nursing care with impaired skin and tissue integrity disorders resolved on the 10th and 30th days, acute pain resolved on the third day, risk of infection on the seventh day, and risk of ineffective cerebral perfusion 1 hour after implementation. The results of this case study are expected to increase knowledge and complement existing sources so that knowledge and management of vulnus laceratum are appropriate and fast.

Abstract

Cerebrovascular Accident is a neurological deficit disease caused by bleeding or blockage with symptoms and signs according to the affected part of the brain, which can cause disability or death. The assessment found several complaints in the form of weakness of the extremities, not taking medication regularly, and the family did not know the care for family members with CVA. The nursing diagnosis in CVA patients is impaired physical mobility, ineffective family health management, and readiness to increase knowledge. The interventions determined for CVA patients are based on the previous diagnosis and theory. The implementation carried out on CVA patients is based on the previously determined interventions and is adjusted to the conditions and situations of the patient. Evaluation of CVA patients during two meetings found that the problem of ineffective family health management nursing was resolved, the problem of readiness to increase knowledge was resolved, and the problem of impaired physical mobility nursing was partially resolved due to time constraints in implementing it.
