Abstract

The land is a landscape on the earth's surface, dynamic to changes, such as converting to settlements. Settlement is driven by changes in population, the greater the population, the greater the need for land to be converted into housing. Based on data from 2018 to 2022, there has been an increasing population in the South Jambi sub-district, which is a strong indication of residential development. This research aims to evaluate the suitability of settlements in the South Jambi sub-district in 2022, using five variables namely, distance from the road, distance from the river, slope, soil type, and flood hazard index. The method of analysis uses the Spatial Multi-Criteria Analysis (SMCA) method. The research results show that the South Jambi sub-district is dominated by the suitable criteria of 568.0 hectares or 86.4%, very suitable criteria obtain 5.8 hectares or 0.9%, and somewhat suitable areas of 80.8 hectares or 12.3%. This means that the South Jambi area has a relatively high level of suitability for settlement. It is hoped that these results can provide information for various stakeholders in determining areas that are suitable for residential development, especially those that are at risk of flooding.

Abstract

Land use is dynamic due to the influence of population growth in an area. High population growth leads to uncontrolled and unplanned changes in land use in an area, resulting in environmental damage, especially in disaster-prone areas. The aim of this study is to review various models suitable for predicting changes in land use concerning flood-prone areas using a literature review method with PRISM guidelines and visualizing literature results using VosViewer software (1.6.19). The results of this study show that SD (System Dynamic Model) and CA-MC (Cellular Automata – Markov Chain) are the most commonly used models in land use change prediction. Meanwhile, the variables most suitable for land use studies, especially built-up land in relation to flood disasters, are population, growth rate, rainfall, slope, GDP, distance from (roads, rivers, and city centers), and LULC.

Abstract

Environmental problems and unemployment are currently serious discussion. This is proven by the piling up of garbage as well as the high unemployment rate, especially in Banten Province. These two problems able to overcome by utilizing decomposer organism that have been created by Allah SWT, as we know is black soldier fly (BSF) or maggot. Unfortunately, the use of maggot to minimize waste and unemployment has not run optimally. The research method is using descriptive qualitative method. The information obtained through observation. Interviews, literature studies and documenting related to maggot cultivation. This research was conducted to overcome the problems of accumulating waste, it can also create jobs for the community through maggot cultivation. Based on the result of this research, cultivating maggot can open jobs and care on the environment. With the discovery that maggot cultivation can create jobs, it is hoped that one of the SDGs goals; decent work and economic growth that can be fulfilled. Besides that, it can minimize piles of waste, especially organic waste.

Abstract

Mining is a vital activity for the management and utilization of natural resources, serving as a source of foreign exchange for national development. However, mining often causes environmental damage, necessitating reclamation and revegetation efforts. Revegetation can be considered a vegetative technique applied in rehabilitating lands damaged during mining. This study involved primary data collection, specifically measuring plant growth and calculating growth rates. The research results from 2021, 2022, and 2023 indicate a continuous increase in growth percentages, suggesting successful reclamation in the study area.

Abstract

Microplastics are micro-sized plastic particles formed when plastic debris degrades due to direct sunlight, weather, and environmental factors. Talang Gulo Landfill is a trash disposal facility in Jambi. The Talang Gulo landfill's high trash volume raises the danger of pollution in the surrounding area. The goal of this study is to determine the number of microplastics, the types of microplastic polymers, and the distribution of microplastics in the Talang Gulo Jambi dump. The sampling approach was utilized in the study, with three random sample locations chosen to reflect locations surrounding the landfill. The study's findings revealed that the third sample included the greatest microplastics in soil samples near the Talang Gulo Jambi dump, at 1.52 grams, followed by the first sample at 0.6 grams and the second sample at 0.13 grams. FT-IR can detect microplastics such as polystyrene (PS) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC).
