Abstract

This study deals with types of taboo words in song lyrics of Nicki Minaj. The objectives of the study were to find out the types of taboo words used in song lyrics of Nicki Minaj, to determine the dominant type of taboo words used in song lyrics and to describe the uncategorized of types of taboo words used in song lyrics. This research was conducted by using descriptive qualitative research. The source of data was derived from song lyrics of Nicki Minaj. The data were taken from the taboo words used in those song lyrics. There were 130 words in the children’s song lyrics of nursery rhymes. The result of the analysis showed that all types of taboo words used in song lyrics of Nicki Minaj; Sexual Activity 55 words (42.31%) followed by numeral on parts of body on taboo words 48 words(36.92%), Religion or Believe 17 words (13.08%) and the last was lavatory or excretion 10 words (7.69%). The dominant types of taboo words used in song lyrics of Nicki Minaj are sexual activity with 55 words. It means that in the song lyrics contain or told about activity, action or event that are happened or doing which happen outside the human beings

Abstract

This study deals with the English. The objectives of this study are to analyze type of deixis and to find out the most dominant type of deixis in Bruno Mars’s Doo-Wops & Hooligans Album. This study was conducted by using descriptive qualitative method. The data of this research were taken from Bruno Mars’s song lyrics in the Doo-Wops & Hooligans album and 10 titles songs lyrics as the samples. The findings showed that there are five types of deixis found in Bruno Mars in the ‘Doo-Wops & Hooligans’ album, namely Person deixis with 616 occurrences (60,39%), Spatial deixis with 95 occurrences (9,31 %), Temporal deixis with 58 occurrences (5,68%), Social deixis with 75 occurrences (7,35%), Discourse deixis with 176 occurrences (17,25%). In this song lyrics of Bruno Mars tends to use Person deixis as the dominant type. The deictic “I” is dominantly used in Bruno Mars’s song lyrics. “I” refers to Bruno Mars as the singer, it means Bruno Mars wants to express her feelings to the listener by her songs.

Abstract

This study deals with contrastive analysis of relative pronouns between English and Karonese. The objective of this study is analyzed the differences and the similarities of relative pronouns in English and Karonese. This study used qualitative research by doing the documentary technique. The data collected by reading some references which are related to the subject matters. The data which has been collected can be qualified to solve the problem of the research. After analyzing the data, found that the similarities in both languages: Relative Pronouns in English and Karonese has the same position in a sentence, it can be: ‘after the subject or before the object’. Relative Pronouns in Ennglish and Karonese have the same form, Si can be used as subject, object, preposition and possessive for People and Things. And there are no differences of Relative Pronouns between English and Karonese as subject, object and possessive functions based on the position and form.
