Abstract

The paper studies the essence and doctrinaire interpretation of ‘transcendence’ from the religious perspective covering the creeds of Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianity, Islam, Sikhism and Baha’i. The paper also reviews the philosophical roots of ‘transcendence’ discussing its original definition, the medieval usage, colloquial usage, transcendent theosophy and the Kantian and modern philosophy of transcendence within which the views of Socrates, Plato, David Hume, Mulla Sadra, Jean-Paul Sartre and Stephen Palmquist, were brought to bear on the discourse. Essentially, the paper contends that there is an eternal scuffle that is taking place between higher and lower forces and the main arena of this struggle is in the human mind as encased in the human body. The paper furthers that in every individual, there is the tri-unity of the senses, the soul and the spirit. The senses are as imbedded in the human body with the sense of touch, taste, sight, sound and smell; the soul is the essence of man’s existence here on earth while the spirit is a spark of God in human. In its journey on earth, the soul continually utilizes the mind in choosing between the essence of the soft whispers of the spirit and the compelling demands of the senses. The soul is, therefore, constantly caught between these two forces; and this is what is dubbed the Battle of Evermore. The author holds that this second-by-second non-violent eternal conflict takes place in all human beings irrespective of color or creed and station or location on earth. Ascendancy in the single super consciousness of the ethereal is a direct product of the cumulative of the degree to which the soul defeats the compulsions of the senses. That, the paper concludes, is the essence of transcendence. Key Words:*Transcendence, *Human mind, *Senses, *Soul, *Spirit, *Philosophical perspective, *Religious perspective, *Transcendent theosophy, *The end of transcendence, *Personal enterprise, *Universal phenomenon.

Abstract

Mystagogy has been recognized as an archaic word which was revived and developed after the Second Vatican Council. The Council begins to facilitate some pastoral concerns on the baptism for adults. The meaning of mystagogy is even more enlarged not only in the scope of liturgical teachings and rites of initiation. It also covers daily life of the faithful in every age and society. This article will present how the dynamic application of the mystagogical process helps clarify the connection between mystagogy and daily experiences of the faithful. Mystagogy is still ‘at work’ and continues to develop in the praxis of faith. Inspired by some theological approaches, the second part of this writing will discuss the connection between mystical sense and daily experience. The author will portray the relations ‘between the mystagogue and the myste’ and ‘between the myste and God’ towards the mystery of faith, before exploring mystagogy in daily experiences within the contexts of mystery and self-transcendence. An extended application of this reinterpretation will be offered in the last section to lead towards transformation through the daily experiences. Key Words:*Mystagogy *Catechesis *Pedagogy *Discipleship *The myste *Mystical experience *Daily life experience *Transformation *Self-transcendence *Spiritual journey.

Abstract

One of the main projects of postcolonial critique has been the recovery of losing or forgotten identity surpassed by colonial power. Postcolonial discourses urge to rescue the colonialized subjects from the trap of colonialized identity. The belief of racial defect lived out by the colonized subjects, for instance, is one of the colonial products  accomplished during the time of colonialism.  Therefore, deconstruction of colonized identity needs to be done in order to bring the colonized subjects to live in their own history. This postcolonial project should become one of theological agendas today that helps individuals to live confidently in post-colonial time. The urgency of Postcolonial Theology is inevitable especially when we realize that our world is recolonizing, taking in a new way: neocolonialism. Key Words:*Alienation *Boundary *Deconstruction *Home *Hybridity*Imperialism *Inferior *Colonialism *Neocolonialism *Postcolonialism *Subaltern.

Abstract

Keindahan hidup, sebuah keindahan sebagaimana adanya, sebagaimana dirasakan, sebagaimana diucapkan.
