Abstract

This research aims to find what kinds of racism are shown in the Till movie, the amount of racist phenomena that occur in the Till movie, and the black people respond to racism in the Till movie. The writer used qualitative methods with a semiotic approach focusing on language signs of racism. There are two data-collecting techniques: Primary Data and Secondary Data. Primary data is from a video of the Till movie, and secondary data is from the literature review. The writer found six types of racism found in the Till movie. There are Interpersonal Racism, Institutional Racism, Structural Racism, Societal Racism, Discrimination, and Violence. In total, seventeen phenomena of racism occur in the Till movie. There are several black people's responses to the racism they experienced in the Till movie. The reactions are understanding and compassion, community solidarity, celebration, pride in our culture, assistance and guidance of younger generations, advocacy and activism, and support from different races.

Abstract

Abstract – This study examines the types of imagery and figurative language used in several Emily Dickinsonpoems. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method to analyze the study of imagery and figurativelanguage in poems. Data were taken from seven poems, namely Because I Could Not Stop for Death, WildNights, With a Flower, I Died for Beauty, I Never Saw a Moor, I Heard Fly Buzz When I Die, and I'm Nobody!Who You? then divided into several types of imagery and figurative language. The results of this study indicatethat: (1) Three types of imagery are found in poems, namely visual imagery, tactile imagery, and auditoryimagery. There are fifty nine imagery data, which includes fifty visual imagery data, one tactile imagery data,and eight auditory imagery data. (2) There are three types of figurative language in poems, namelypersonification, metaphor, and simile. With a total of nine figurative language data, which includes sixpersonification data, two metaphor data, and one simile data. (3) Then it was found that the implied meanings inthe figurative language and imagery Emily Dickinson's poems are about death, relationship, feminine beauty,life, and faith.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the preconscious personality of the main character in the film Aladdin. Researchers used qualitative descriptive methods in this research using primary and secondary data. Researchers used documentation techniques and literary analysis. There are several procedures in conducting this research, such as watching the film, identifying essential points related to the study, classifying the characters' personalities and preconscious personalities in the movie, identifying plot developments, and explaining the conclusions. Thus, the selection of this research title is based on a combination of personal interests, academic interests, and the potential impact that can be generated. Characters are imaginings that are relevant to us and our experiences, whether like ourselves or other people we know. This research 1. How is the subconscious state of the main character depicted in the film Aladdin? 2. How does the state of the subconscious affect the personality of the main character? The psychoanalytic used Sigmund Freud's theory. The research results show that Aladdin's subconscious personality in the film is shown as a kind, humble, steadfast, and generous character. According to data from this research, the main character's personality, Aladdin, is described because of the film's storyline, where Aladdin is placed in poverty and then gets lucky, thus producing a conflict in the character's subconscious.

Abstract

The research investigates the effectiveness and identifies the impact of utilizing the explanation, understanding, questions, and pronunciation (EUQP) strategy in teaching reading comprehension in descriptive and narrative texts. The research was conducted at SMP Plus Putra Indonesia for two months, using a descriptive and qualitative research design. Data collection involved interviews, analysis, and perception, while data analysis was conducted through topic examination and alignment with the research questions. The findings revealed that the utilization of the EUQP method led to an improvement in students' reading comprehension in both descriptive and narrative texts. The study highlighted the significance of teaching reading skills and the positive impact of the EUQP method on students' reading comprehension. This research contributes to the existing literature on strategies for enhancing students' reading comprehension, particularly in descriptive and narrative texts for different grade levels. The combination of explanation, understanding, questions, and pronunciation methods proved to be effective in improving students' reading skills.

Abstract

This study aims to understand the intention of mindset behavior in the character Kevin in the movieThe Pattern of Mindset of Main Character. The method used in this film is a qualitative description of collectingdata requiring a lot of resources and providing an overview. The result of this study is that Kevin experiences amindset towards two types of fixed mindset and growth mindset from several factors such as parental factors,family factors and environmental factors. By concluding that Kevin's mindset in this movie is to make peopleaware that the mindset is to make life more realistic and focused in life, in every activity that is carried out, lookfor positive things and make our mindset develop. Don't be someone who is monotonous in life because of whatwe do every step of the way, not everything can be according to our expectations. Therefore develop thatmindset.
