Abstract

As we know, Indonesians themselves have a fairly high level of competitiveness in terms of employment, which makes it quite difficult to get a job in the country. The minimality of employment makes many Indonesians choose to complain about their fate in another country, often referred to as migrant workers. Indonesia is one of the countries that has a considerable number of migrant workers and is scattered around the world. However, many of the Indonesian migrant workers have experienced human rights violations from their employers, such as discrimination, sexual harassment, physical and mental violence, wage withholding, and even unpaid wages. Human rights are inherent rights of every individual as long as they exist, including the right to education, freedom of religion, access to health facilities, the right to work, and other rights. To address the violations of migrant workers' rights, Indonesia joined the International Labour Organization (ILO), which is under the umbrella of the United Nations, as a reservoir that serves to provide protection for migrants. The ILO also protects workers' rights by improving living standards, hiring policies, working hours, working contracts, health care for workers, and dealing with all workers who have or are experiencing employment problems.

Abstract

The bilateral relationship between Indonesia and Australia has often experienced ups and downs, including a number of conflicts that have strained relations between the two countries, especially during the administration of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. During the era of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, incidents of espionage received significant media attention when Edward Snowden revealed the identities of several Indonesian officials who were the targets of SIGINT wiretapping operations in Asia, especially in Australia. President SBY (Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono) at that time lost his composure after learning that his cellphone was tapped by the Australian Intelligence Agency. The news of the case conducted by the Australian state against several officials in Indonesia raises the question of how Indonesia is responding to the case. There are concerns about Indonesia's basis for handling these cases, given that news of Australia's prosecution of prominent Indonesian figures was reported in 2013 by Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, the President of the Republic of Indonesia. Indonesia took several steps in response to the wiretapping. Firstly, Indonesia requested official clarification and clarity from Australia, and secondly, the Indonesian government protested by suspending and rethinking a number of bilateral agreements with Australia for a while until there was a clear response and confidence that there would be no wiretapping of state interests. Although Indonesia showed disappointment regarding the wiretapping action carried out by Australia and Indonesia as the party that decided a number of collaborations, Indonesia first contacted Australia after the disclosure of this case

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explain the importance of evaluating global trade policies in the context of the Indonesian economy. Economic transactions such as exports, imports, foreign investment, foreign debt, remittances, and payment of services play a key role in the Indonesian economy. Factors such as differences in resources, economies of scale, technological differences, differences in demand, differences in regulations, innovation, and research affect international trade. However, there are also factors that can hinder international trade, such as tariffs, trade wars, technical and cultural barriers, economic crises, protectionism, and infrastructure inequality. The impact of these economic transactions also affects Indonesia's trade balance, economic growth, and overall financial stability. The study also underscores the need to take into account external dynamics, such as global economic conditions and changes in international trade regulations, in the evaluation process of global trade policies. Qualitative research methods are used to evaluate global trade policies, including case studies, qualitative interviews, document analysis, participant observations, and content analysis. The evaluation of global trade policies considers their impact on economic growth, social inequality, the environment, and political stability. In conclusion, a thorough understanding of the complex and related aspects of global trade policy evaluation is necessary for sustainable and well-being-oriented decision-making of society as a whole.

Abstract

This study seeks to elucidate the rationale behind the European Union's adoption of an anti-dumping measure concerning the importation of Chinese solar panels in 2013. Employing a qualitative explanatory approach grounded in the concept of protectionism, the research delves into the European Union's strategic considerations. Given the region's reliance on fossil fuel imports, there exists a pronounced emphasis on renewable energy sectors, particularly solar panels. Initially a frontrunner in solar panel production, the European Union has encountered increasing competition from China. In response to this intensified competition within the solar panel industry, the European Union opted for a protectionist stance, manifested in the form of anti-dumping measures aimed at addressing the significantly lower selling prices of Chinese products, which fell below established minimum thresholds.

Abstract

This study examines the dynamics of international trade in Indonesia and the factors influencing it. The researcher adopts a descriptive approach to elucidate the evolution of international trade and a verification method to identify variables impacting it. Secondary data spanning from 2003 to 2019 serves as the primary data source. The analysis employs multiple regression techniques. The findings reveal that international trade in Indonesia experienced fluctuations during the study period, largely driven by changes in oil and gas prices as well as non-oil commodity prices. Notably, growth in Indonesia's international trade is predominantly observed in the non-oil and gas sector. Consequently, the Indonesian government has devised strategies to support exporters in this sector through various incentives. The study identifies several factors affecting international trade, including exchange rates, inflation rates, government effectiveness, and trade openness. Simultaneously, these factors collectively influence international trade dynamics. However, the analysis indicates that inflation rate, government effectiveness, and trade openness significantly impact international trade, whereas the exchange rate factor exhibits no discernible effect
