Abstract

In the digital age, social media has become an important tool in public diplomacy, allowing countries to communicate directly with a global audience. This change has significant implications for international relations strategies, facilitating transparency, real-time interaction and rapid information dissemination. This research explores how social media is used by countries to support their public diplomacy objectives and the impact it has on international relations. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data was collected through content analysis of social media posts from official government accounts and diplomats from several countries over a period of time. The purpose of this research is to understand the role of social media in public diplomacy and identify strategies used by countries in managing their international image. The research also aims to examine the effectiveness of social media as a public diplomacy tool in influencing international public opinion and building relationships between countries. The results show that social media plays an important role in public diplomacy, allowing countries to effectively convey their messages to a global audience.

Abstract

This research analyzes the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in multilateral diplomacy, with a focus on improving the efficiency and effectiveness of international negotiations. Applying a qualitative approach through literature research methods, this analysis collects and synthesizes relevant literature, including books, scientific journals, and policy reports that discuss the interaction between AI and diplomacy. AI has the potential to improve real-time data analysis, sentiment tracking, as well as predict the outcome of diplomatic scenarios, enabling diplomats to be more responsive to complex global challenges. However, the use of AI is also faced with ethical and security challenges, such as algorithmic bias, transparency issues, and the potential for a reduction in the role of humans in diplomatic decision-making. Therefore, it is important to develop a regulatory framework that ensures fair and transparent use of AI in the context of diplomacy. The study provides recommendations to stakeholders on the importance of human oversight and strong governance to optimize the benefits of AI in multilateral diplomacy, while also considering its ethical implications

Abstract

The global water crisis is increasingly worrisome, especially in regions that rely on transboundary water resources such as the Middle East, Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, and Southeast Asia. Competition for access to clean water has the potential to trigger conflict, but it can also be an opportunity to build cooperation between countries through water diplomacy. This study aims to analyze the dynamics of water diplomacy in the midst of a global water crisis and identify the factors that influence its success and failure. The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive-analytical approach. Data were collected through literature studies from scientific journals, international organization reports, and policy documents, then analyzed using content analysis techniques and comparative analysis between regions. The results show that areas with strong cooperation mechanisms and international agreements, such as the Niger River basin, tend to be better able to manage potential conflicts. In contrast, tensions are rising in regions such as the Indus River (India–Pakistan) and the Nile River (Egypt–Ethiopia), where the uniliteral approach is still dominant. Water diplomacy has proven effective if it is supported by a clear legal framework, political commitment, and the mediating role of international organizations. Implicitly, countries need to strengthen water diplomacy policies as part of their security and sustainable development strategies, as well as encourage inclusive regional cooperation for transboundary water resources management.

Abstract

Public diplomacy has undergone a significant transformation in the digital era, becoming an important instrument in building the country's image on the international stage. This research aims to analyze the evolution of public diplomacy and identify new strategies that can be used by countries to improve their image. By leveraging social media and communication technologies, countries can reach international audiences more directly and build inclusive interactions. Approaches that emphasize positive messages, friendship, and two-way dialogue have proven to be more effective in shaping favorable public opinion. In addition, the challenges arising from the spread of disinformation and narrative competition require adaptation of public diplomacy strategies. The research is expected to provide deeper insights into effective public diplomacy practices, strengthen the role of soft powers, and recommend actions that countries can take to strengthen their international image in an ever-changing global context..

Abstract

Global food security is increasingly threatened by climate change, geopolitical conflicts, and shifting agricultural production patterns. Extreme weather events such as droughts, floods, and irregular rainfall have significant impacts on agricultural productivity, exacerbating food shortages, especially in vulnerable areas. In addition, armed conflicts in countries such as Somalia, South Sudan, Yemen, and Afghanistan further exacerbate food security by disrupting agricultural infrastructure and food distribution systems. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive-analytical methods, utilizing a literature review of academic journals, reports from international organizations, and policy documents. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis and comparative analysis to identify key patterns and strategies in food security across regions. The results show that the climate crisis and armed conflict are key drivers of food insecurity, with direct consequences for food availability, accessibility, and stability. In addition, major global actors, including China, the European Union, and Russia, are using food diplomacy as a strategic tool in international relations, impacting global trade and political stability. Furthermore, technological advances in precision agriculture, artificial intelligence, hydroponics, and smart irrigation have emerged as potential solutions to improve food security, albeit with challenges related to accessibility and implementation costs. Studies show that sustainable food policies, international cooperation, and technology adoption must be prioritized to effectively address food security challenges. Strengthening global trade networks, enhancing climate adaptation strategies, and promoting diplomatic efforts to resolve conflicts are important steps towards a more resilient global food system.
