Abstract

Aim: This research aims to make projections about the efforts. Turkish universities are making to attract international students. Some nations like Turkey are actively trying to attract more foreign workers. Managers of international student offices are the focus of the research because they are both policymakers and practitioners and, as a result, have unique perspectives on international recruitment.Methodology: Data were collected from the International Office Directors of Turkish universities via a survey conducted between December 2014 and February 2016. The online survey tool Survey Monkey was used to collect responses.Findings: According to the research conducted, international student offices in Turkish universities are relatively new establishments that lack authority and personnel. In addition, the board members all agreed that universities do not provide enough funding for international outreach. Similarly, many higher education institutions do not systematically plan for international students.Implications/Novelty: There are still significant obstacles that must be carefully addressed before Turkish universities can truly reap the benefits of their increased international student enrollment. Insights into how to solve these issues have been provided by this study, which has brought to light the issues that international students face.

Abstract

Aim: The primary goal of this research is to analyze how the Human Resource (HR) competencies of frontline employees at unclassified hotels in Sri Lanka’s western province affect the number of foreign visitors to those establishments.Methodology: 131 frontline workers were selected as possible respondents after a thorough conceptual model was developed and tested on a survey strategy.Findings: According to the research, unclassified hotels in Sri Lanka’s western province benefit greatly from the HR competencies of their frontline employees. The only significant dimensions of HR competencies were interpersonal and communication skills. The five unclassified hotels in Sri Lanka’s western province are the only ones covered by this study, which was conducted solely on a cross-sectional basis.Implications/Novelty: The study has shown that managers need to put more effort into improving the interpersonal and communication skills of their frontline workers if they want to increase the number of tourists they bring in. It has also shown that managers must assess their frontline workers’ skills to see where they need to improve.

Abstract

Aim: This research aims to develop a mathematical programming model for the NBA tournament schedule that considers the equality of the teams that each team will face in the bracket. Professional sports leagues rely heavily on tournaments to maintain and grow their fan bases. However, there are many moving parts to consider when planning a tournament, including the dates, locations, opponents, and more.Methodology: To level the playing field between teams, an Integer Programming (IP) model was proposed. Results Numerical experiments showed that this model could improve the NBA’s tournament format.Novelty/Implications: To schedule the NBA’s professional sports tournaments in a balanced manner, a mathematical model has been proposed in this study. This model or the developed viewpoint can be used in various sports for tournament schedules.

Abstract

Aim: This paper aims to use a representative sample of Malaysian university students to quantify the prevalence of "unskilled and unaware" phenomena in the country. Lack of generic skills, i.e., being "unskilled," has been cited as a contributing factor to the graduate unemployment problem, which has persisted since the financial crisis of 1998. Still, graduate unemployment cannot be blamed on the "unskilled" alone. The presence of both "unskilled" and "unaware" may be to blame.Methodology: Information is collected through interviews with students and faculty at Universiti Utara Malaysia’s Bachelor of Banking program. The questionnaire served as a data collection tool, with answers submitted by students before interviews and by interviewers afterward. Findings were arrived at using correlation and regression analysis.Findings: The findings show that students significantly overestimated their generic skill level in comparison to employer assessments. That the students are "unaware" of their lack of skill. The data also shows that this state of "unaware" correlates strongly with students’ lack of competence. It is more likely that the less-skilled students will not know. Consequently, there is a problem of students being "unskilled and unaware" in Malaysia.Novelty/Implications: This research sheds light on why there has been a rise in graduate unemployment in Malaysia, namely, that recent grads lack the necessary skills and experience to find gainful employment.

Abstract

Aim: This article aims to chart the development of democracy in Cameroon over various historical periods. Since the dawn of time, democracy has been practiced worldwide. Because of this, whether you’re talking about Athenian democracy or the democracy in the United States, both have their roots in the past. This was the case with the African and Cameroonian democracies, which predated colonialism.Methodology: Data is collected using an interdisciplinary strategy, and the past is analyzed using a functional framework.Findings: The data gathered using historical research methods led to the conclusion that democracy is a work in progress and not a perfect system. Cameroonians can incorporate new democratic norms into their country’s established system. Customs.Novelty/Implications: The results of this study demonstrate that the Cameroonian culture before colonization was governed fairly well. Both historical and modern Cameroonian societies were inclined to pursue some form of social progress. It is analyzed, and recommendations are made for Cameroonian and African societies.

Abstract

Aim: This research aims to analyze the recent changes in two different youth subcultures. Subcultures today contribute heavily to the multifaceted framework that exists today. However, they lack any sort of coherence outside of the realm of mass culture. In other words, youth subcultures become embedded in the system they once protested through mainstream media.Methodology: This research relies on information gleaned from a thorough review of the relevant literature.Findings: Existing facts and data are critically evaluated, revealing that modern subcultures are formed with a structure to help individuals find the content most appropriate to their desires and needs, satisfying them aesthetically and in terms of other senses and enhancing the relationship of cultures with life.Novelty/Implications: Instead of using the term "subculture," this research has carefully examined terms like "neo-tribes," "lifestyle," and "scene" to highlight the dynamic nature of youth subcultures. This research aims to gain insight into the nature and current relevance of youth subcultures.

Abstract

Aim: This paper discusses potential strategies for growing the tourism sector in the area. We use Hualien County as an illustration. Hualien County is a region in East Taiwan known for its breathtaking scenery and diverse eco-friendly landscape. A crucial issue is how to effectively boost the regional economy and the tourism sector. This issue is the main focus of the paper.Methodology: Our qualitative research is based on archival analysis of reports about Hualien’s most popular tourist spot and on participant observation. To promote tourism, we conducted a SWOT analysis of the available literature.Findings: We discovered that the local government should coordinate the culture of festive activities and provide clear publicity for the events. The media should be used in the management of the tourism industry. Cooperation between the government and businesses should enhance the growth of the tourism industry.Implications/Novelty: The implication is that there may still be unresolved conflicts between the quickening pace of tourism growth and the protection of the area’s natural beauty.

Abstract

Aim: This research aims to find out if and how the Truku people of East Taiwan have managed to keep their traditions alive over time. Methodology Archival research, participant observation, and the use of a SWOT analysis all contribute to the qualitative nature of this investigation.Findings: The Truku people, it can be said with confidence, serve as a prime illustration of the maturation of both tribal culture and the Seejoq language. The benefits and drawbacks, opportunities, and threats of tourism development for the Truku tribe have all been critically analyzed in this study. It has been discovered that the rituals of the May Bari of Truku can significantly revive the Truku people. Created based on its beliefs and practices.Implications/Novelty: Our original contribution is that we looked at how tribal pride in their ancestry has changed over time. This research bolsters the case for the widespread acceptance of tribal people into modern society’s networks, where they enjoy the same rights and freedoms as everyone else, not just in isolated communities.
