Abstract

Aim: In modern times, drug addiction is a widespread social disease that affects every society in the world. The primary purpose of this research is to investigate the socio-cultural, psychological, and familial aspects of drug addiction and the effects of drug addiction on the health, family life, and social impact of the user. Method: The research in this study is qualitative, with information coming from both primary and secondary sources. The districts of Chattogram and Noakhali in Bangladesh have been surveyed for primary data. A total of 136 drug addicts aged 21-42 were chosen for the study. All respondents were given a pre-designed, structured questionnaire to fill out. The information presented here is secondary data gleaned from a wide range of published sources on a global scale. Findings: According to the study results, approximately 65.45% of the total number of people in Bangladesh addicted to drugs became addicted due to various social and cultural causes. The study also revealed that 25% of people became addicted to drugs due to psychological causes, 8.08% became addicted to drugs due to various family problems, and 1.47% became addicted to drugs due to other matters. The research also shows that drug addiction has a negative impact, both physically and mentally, on the person who uses drugs. Memory is one of the functions that is negatively impacted, along with work capacity. Individuals who are addicted to drugs face an increased risk of death as a result of their condition. Implications/Novel Contribution: Drug addiction prevention has already emerged as a significant obstacle for virtually all countries. The most significant implication that can be drawn from this study is that it will be very helpful in cutting down on drug addiction in Bangladesh. It will raise awareness about the effects of drug addiction among adolescents who are addicted to drugs and the guardians of those adolescents. This study opens up a new channel for academics to contribute the knowledge and experience they have gained throughout their careers to the cause of eradicating drug addiction by adding more research into the effects of drug addiction.

Abstract

Aim: The concept of financial technology, which grew out of the digitalization of the financial sector, is becoming more and more significant every day. This research examines how people in Turkey and Azerbaijan feel about using financial technologies and about seeing if those feelings vary depending on demographic factors. Method: This research employed surveys for this purpose in both countries. An overall sample size of 397 questionnaires was used for the study. The survey data were analyzed by the SPSS 22 software. Non- parametric tests were used to analyze the opinions of the general public. Findings: The tests’ results show that in both countries, consumers’ perspectives on the usefulness of financial technologies vary with age and level of education. Consumers in Turkey have a more negative outlook on the efficacy of financial technologies than those in Azerbaijan. That Turkey is closer to the developed world and smart capital and uses these sorts of business models more frequently than Azerbaijan may account for the disparity. Implications/Novel Contribution: This research provides information on consumer attitudes in two different countries. It illuminates the demographic factors that shape consumer preferences. There hasn’t been a lot of research done on this topic in either country.

Abstract

Aim: The study aims to analyze the economic efficacy of different industries that produce a country’s GDP. These industries were also studied because of their significant economic impact on the country. Methodology: The research utilized Data Envelopment Analysis to compare and contrast two strategies for gauging the efficacy of administrative and planning processes: the CCR and the BCC. The analysis revealed problems and implications for policy and institutions in the Malaysian economy. Findings: The analysis conclusively established this when it revealed the sectors were providing insufficient outputs to the national economy. These industries are crucial to the country’s output. Still, they are also affected by external factors such as those occurring in the rest of the world, and the current development crisis in Malaysia has only worsened the situation. The focus then shifts to economic policies and institutions’ ability to withstand outside interferences. Implications/Novel Contribution: The study’s rejection of the null hypothesis raised questions about the sectors’ respective allocations of resources. Allocations had remained flat over the 20 years from 2000-2019, resulting in inefficiencies in policy implementation and the inability of institutions to fulfill their intended function. The study brings policy insights for policy makers working in economic development sector.

Abstract

Aim: This research aims to examine the contemporary Taiwanese mortuary practices, identifies the disconnect between the country’s mortuary value system and its actual practice, and delves into the connections between the two and grief support. The government of Taiwan’s research findings will be used as a basis for developing funeral policy. Method: Secondary data analysis, in-depth interviews, and thematic data analysis were used to compile this report. Participants in this study were relatives who have suffered a recent death within the last three years. In total, there are thirteen people taking part. 8 people chose to be interred in a columbarium niche, while 5 people went the natural route. Findings: Lineal relatives are the backbone of the funeral planning strategy; "to be environmentally friendly and sanitation" and "not to be troublesome to the bereaved" are the primary justifications for selecting burial methods. Traditional wiping and bathing rites seem to be losing their fundamental purpose as more and more people choose not to send obituaries and shorten the length of the funeral to just seven days. While there is a discrepancy between funeral costs and etiquette, it is detrimental to grief care. Implications/Novel Contribution: The findings of this study will be used by the government of Taiwan to guide the creation of a policy regarding natural burials. Grief support for the deceased’s family must be balanced against the government’s broader goal of protecting the environment and improving public health. Moreover, this study aims to bring the attention of the funeral industry, academic institutions, and policymakers to the negative impact of mortuary arrangements on the condensing of time and space.
