Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) has rapidly growth in Indonesia, specifically the use of internet has increased drastically. A huge number of people have been utilizing internet in Indonesia including the Indonesian coastal areas. Thus, it is interesting to observe and investigate the role of internet in improving people's lives especially women in coastal areas. Also, there is a lack of study on how women at coastal area “see” the internet. Qualitative research method is applied in this study based on observation and interview. Respondents were the women from coastal areas. The results show that most of women have a sophisticated mobile phone, but they sometimes do not know about its applications. Thus, the internet is remained abandoned and women do not use the internet in order to have information. Further to this, most of their children know how to use the internet such as to play the game and to use social media such as facebook, instagram and whatsapp. This study would provide insights to local government and policy makers so that they may enforce the women to utilize the internet and let the society become media literate.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to identify socio-cultural barriers of Muslim women athletes. A case study on professional female athletes in Iran is carried out in the current study to highlight the barriers that women athletes have to go through in their careers. Qualitative research was performed based on grounded theory. To collect data, the semi-structured interviews were used. The sample was taken from professors of sports management in universities of Iran who were active in the main body of the sport, as well as the chairman and vice chairman of the federations that were selected purpose-fully. The results of the eleven semi-structured interviews found five categories, namely personal problems, social beliefs, government thought, cultural attitudes, legal-law and customary barriers, all of which included the central issue of social cultural barriers. On the basis of these findings some useful recommendations for policy makers are made which might help them to develop an inclusive and encouraging environment for the athletes and eventually the athletes will be able to overcome the social and cultural hurdles in their career path.

Abstract

This research aims to develop and assess the effectiveness of a one-time laughter therapy program for college nursing students. It intends to investigated the effectiveness of this program on their stress response, school life adjustment and ego-resilience. It is a quasi-experimental research of nonequivalent control group pre/post test design. 33 people each of an experimental group and a control group participated in this research (n = 66). After operating the one-time laughter therapy on two groups, this study measured their stress response, school life adjustment and ego-resilience during the same period. The results demonstrated that their stress response was p = .040 and their school life adjustment was p = .012, which meant that the one-time laughter therapy exerted a significant influence on them. The findings suggest that one-time laughter therapy can help college nursing students relieve their stress and adjust to their school life well. This program also enhanced the ego-resilience of the students. Based on the results, it is recommended that the laughter therapy program should be introduced and operated consistently in nursing colleges to regulate the stress response and school life adjustment and promote the health of nursing students.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a Section Team Based Learning (STBL) program for women health nursing education for undergraduate nursing students. It also intends to investigate the effects of the STBL on self-directed learning ability, learning attitude and problem solving ability. The participants(n = 69) were 34 people in an experimental group and 35 in a control group. A quasi-experimental nonequivalent control group pre/post-test design was used. Data were collected from the experimental group and the control group between September and October of 2017. This study was performed after obtaining approval by IRB (Institutional Review Board) and an agreement by the objects. The women's health nursing STBL program was operated by a researcher personally and run for 50 minutes per week over six weeks in total. It measured self-directed learning ability, learning attitude and problem solving ability of the participants before and after the program. As a result, it has shown that the STBL program exerted a significant influence on the problem solving ability for women health nursing learning (p < 000), but not on the self-directed learning ability and the learning attitude. Therefore, college education courses seem to need to be supplemented in order to foster outstanding and problem solving nursing resources. The women's health nursing STBL program will be helpful to improve problem solving ability of nursing students rather than a lecture class. It will also increase self-learning ability of the nursing students.
