Abstract

The aim of this paper is to present the author's approach to project management. It was developed in view of the growing popularity of this methodology in the world of business and manufacturing. The current approach has been developed on the basis of methodologies such as Prince2, PMI Book, Demimnga Cycle and Product Life Cycle. Individual elements necessary to launch the project were selected and presented in the form of project documentation. It's part of project charter, organisational structure, division of labour structure, project schedule, project budget, project status report. For all documents, a customised layout of content, developed in accordance with the above mentioned methodologies, has been developed. The developed methodology was implemented into the project of building a training production line under the name “AGH Lean Line”, carried out by the student research group “Management” operating at the AGH University of Science and Technology in Krakow.

Abstract

This paper aimed to answer the question regarding the distribution of micro-donations. It focuses on investigating that how rounding-up the invoice amount of purchases could change the donation market. In order to do so an intensive literature review on ethics, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and donations with a special focus on micro-donations was conducted. The findings from the literature review show that micro-donations can be used as a low threshold for customers to do good and as a starting point for bigger donations. Those findings were discussed in the light of how micro-donations can be perceived by customers and by corporations. Implementation strategies for micro-donations at different point-of-sales were analyzed within the work. The results of this literature review were compared with those of an empirical study that was also conducted in the course of the PhD. A quantitative survey taking place in both Germany and Romania including 16 closed-ended questions regarding people's attitude towards micro-donations was used to deepen the understanding of the topic. Analysis of the gathered data showed that, as was partially predicted by the findings from the literature review, the option to donate via micro-donations seem relevant especially for the young and the poor. Those usually very hard to reach demographics can with this measure be nudged into donating small amounts. In general, the paper was able to show that people do have a very positive attitude towards microdonations. Still, special education on the topic is needed in order to achieve optimal results.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between multicultural education and students' creative thinking skills. The link between education and multiculturalism is a solution to diverse cultural realities as a process of developing all potential that respects plurality as well as heterogeneity as a consequence of cultural diversity. Previously scholars have investigated and found that multicultural education can predict betterperformance in steps of creative thinking skills. The Kaki Dian Emas Foundation with its From Lawang to Sentul (FLaTS) program places multicultural education as a training curriculum where through appreciation of differences can enhance creative thinking skills during the training process. In another study, through socio-cultural theories proves that multicultural interactions can enhance creative thinking skills and the role of cognitive flexibility rather than multicultural exposures. The research objective to be achieved is to find out and analyze the role of multicultural education on students' creative thinking skills. In the implementation, this study took primary data using questionnaires. Secondary data is obtained from the Foundation Secretariat. The type of research used is using quantitative research with explanatory methods. The number of respondents was 46 students of FLaTS Batch XXXII. Primary data obtained by using questionnaires. The analysis technique used is using the Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) or interaction test. Based on the results of the analysis and discussion, the conclusions of the study are: Multicultural interactions in which there are values of appreciation and are open to each other to differences will provide a significant relationship to the dimensions in creative thinking skills. The form of in-depth multicultural education in FLaTS accommodates repeated interactions in a continuous time so that it expands the creative thinking process of students.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the role that tariffs could possibly play beyond an infant industry argument, by considering three scenarios on how a technological competition can evolve, an approach that is built on the principle of fairness. At Davos, World Economic Forum (2019) characterized globalization as evolving from the old silk road (Globalization 1.0) to now possibly entering a phase of Globalization 4.0. The possibility of the new phase of globalization is partially triggered by a de-globalization movement grounded on populist sentiment and a promotion of “me-first” rather than a “win-win”, moving away from the neoclassical framework of international trade based on the balance of current account and capital account, the principle by which Globalization 3.0 has operated for many years. Some country leaders blatantly ignored standard textbook framework on international trade, advocating fair trade principle based on zero current account balance as the ideal. The threat of raising tariffs as a policy tool can escalate into an excuse for a revival of Keynesian economics applied globally, resulting in “lose-lose” rather than “win-win” outcome that neoclassical economics advocates. Can tariffs be rationalized beyond an attempt to pursue Keynesian economics? With a game-theoretical perspective heuristically explained in a neoclassical framework of international trade, this study further evaluates the possible consequences of tariffs under Globalization 3.0 and speculate on its effectiveness in promoting new concepts for Globalization 4.0. This study advocates that if a neoclassical approach to international trade will ever be revisited, an appropriate framework for discussing future policy must be used. It concludes that tariffs are ineffective in helping to facilitate the rules of a game that can determine the winner of a technological race under a Rawlsian veil of ignorance, which is not the whole part but nevertheless an important aspect of globalization 4.0.

Abstract

This article aims to examine how news media cover terrorism, and how public opinion has been influenced by the media coverage, with examples from different parts of the world. Media coverage of attacks, attackers or the activities of terror organisations informs the public, but it also serves as a major channel to spread the terror, and at the same time, these news get the attention of possible recruits to terror organisations. Thus, media coverage can directly and indirectly assist terrorist organisations to reach their goals. This paper will try to reveal whether the media, intentionally or unintentionally, reflects exaggerated accounts of violent terrorist acts or not. In this regard, ethical standards in the coverage of terrorism will be discussed. Content analysis of the recent attacks in the mosques of New Zealand and explosions in the churches and various places in Sri Lanka from Al Jazeera, the BBC, CNN, and The New Zealand Herald's (for New Zealand), and The Daily Mirror (for Sri Lanka) website articles, are undertaken by keyword searching. The findings highlight that all of the studies' mediums avoided giving their own commentary or opinion, Al Jazeera framed the news mostly from the view of Muslim groups and the CNN and the BBC avoided to use “terrorist” phase. Besides, in terms of the ethics of journalism, both indicating the attacker's identity in the news and approaching the events with moderate words due to the identity of the attacker are problematic.

Abstract

The aim of the research work is to identify the existing strategies of selected clusters and develop recommendations for taking into account the principles of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in cluster operations. CSR gains these days more and more attention. It is connected with the activity that includes the ethical conduct of the organization towards the public, in particular its recipients, employees, other stakeholders as well as the impact on the natural environment. One of the main barriers to the development of cages is the lack of mutual trust. The literature of the subject and the opinions of practitioners indicate trust as a key factor in the success of cluster initiatives. For this reason, creating an environment friendly to its construction should be one of the first steps taken by cluster participants. Considerations about the role of trust in the cluster's construction process and the related barriers to cluster development result in the thesis that one of the obstacles to the cluster's activity is the lack of faith that its participants will behave in a socially responsible way. In addition, the progressing promotion of CSR is playing an increasingly important role in stimulating the emergence and development of cooperative relationships such as clusters. The work includes the collection, processing and analysis of data, information and knowledge necessary to develop final conclusions. In the research, qualitative and quantitative methods as well as literature analysis from the studied area is used. The work takes into account cluster strategies in which elements of CSR are identified. The findings aim to contribute in building recommendations for the implementation of the principles of CSR in the activities of clusters.
