Abstract

Lifestyle physical activity in adolescence improve the level of physical activity and movement that young individuals engage in as part of their daily routines and activities outside of structured exercise or organized sports. It encompasses the everyday activities that adolescents do, such as walking, biking, playing. Physical fitness is essential for all ages, but it is significant for adolescence and children. A fit body can lead to a healthy mind and body, so it is important to make lifestyle physical activity a regular part of your life. Adolescence who are physically fit are less likely to suffer from obesity or other chronic health conditions, and they are also more likely to have better mental health. Physically active adolescence has been shown to have better academic performance and social skills. By encouraging your adolescence to be physically active, you set them up for a healthy and happy life, as lifestyle physical activity helps to improve focus and concentration. Being physically fit and well-being can also boost self-esteem and confidence, adolescence learn to appreciate their bodies and what they can do. In addition, PA changes over several transitional periods, including during the COVID-19 pandemic. In many settings, a low level of PA among children occurs as a result of adults’ poor understanding of biological and environmental changes. By understanding the timing and period of the decline or increase in PA, the school, family, and home community can create more opportunities to incorporate PA into a child’s daily life. The Thai government and policy makers can also use the results of this study as evidence in refining their strategies and designing appropriate interventions to improve PA of Thai adolescence people and prevent or delay the onset of non-communicable diseases (NCD) of the population in the long run.

Abstract

Analyzing the policies for the achievement sports development program in Papua after the XX National Sports Week (PON) based on KONI Papua's perception is something that must be done because achievement sports development must be carried out in a planned, systematic, measurable and sustainable manner. This research aims to analyze the policy of the achievement sports development program in Papua after the XX PON based on the perception of KONI Papua. Using qualitative methods with interview, observation and documentation data collection techniques. With the policy analysis methodology used in problem solving: problem formulation, forecasting, recommendations, monitoring and evaluation. The participants were the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) Papua, numbering 1 person.In generalpolicy for sports achievement development programs in Papua after the national sports week(PON) XX based on KONI Papua's perceptionnot yet integrated well due to internal factors in sports coaching such as the very limited sports coaching budget.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the appreciation of the people of Bawomataluo Village, South Nias Regency towards cultural values and the factors that contribute to the growth of the traditional sport of Stone Jumping (Fahombo). Documentation and preservation of traditional sports, Incorporating traditional sports into the curriculum to teach children about community culture. This research used qualitative descriptions, interviews, and observations. Data were analyzed using NVIVO 12 Plus. Data collection, FGDs, reduction, presentation, conclusion, and verification Ten participants participated in this study. Potential informants included stakeholders, community leaders, and sports activists. The results of this study are, 1) The number of people who know about stone jumping (Fahombo) shows that the community's efforts to preserve traditional sports are good. 2) Forming traditional sports coaching groups to promote the sport. 3) Traditional sporting events are widely promoted to local and migrant communities through traditional and digital media. 4) Preserving local culture by organizing annual events and festivals of the traditional sport of Stone Jumping (Fahombo), teaching it to the next generation, and recording it. 5) Tourism potential, organized traditional sports activities in Bawomataluo Village, South Nias, 6) Develop local tourism such as arts, traditional sports and improve resources.

Abstract

The importance of physical activity in enhancing student engagement in the learning process has prompted the development of the Fun-Trastic model, a fun, traditional, music, and energetic physical activity designed for the early childhood phase. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the Fun-Trastic model in engaging students, measuring their enthusiasm and preferences, and assessing its feasibility in educational contexts. A Research and Development (R&D) approach was employed, consisting of three stages: model trial, expert validation, and student preference evaluation. The participants in the study were 9-10-year-old elementary school students from Central Java and the Special Region of Yogyakarta. Data collection involved a Likert-scale questionnaire administered after students performed the Fun-Trastic activities, with a focus on measuring engagement, enjoyment, and intensity levels. Results showed that students found the Fun-Trastic activity to be highly enjoyable and engaging, with positive responses regarding their enthusiasm and participation. Additionally, the activity was considered appropriately challenging without causing excessive exertion, indicating its potential as an effective physical activity model for elementary school students. The study concluded that Fun-Trastic could be a valuable addition to physical education programs, promoting student engagement without overwhelming them.

Abstract

Physical activity is vital for children to improve their motor skills and overall fitness. This study aimed to develop the Dance Intensive Nimble Activity (DINA), a physical activity model combining trending TikTok dances with short, high-intensity mini-games. The ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, Evaluate) guided the development. The study involved 68 children aged 9-10 years across Central Java and Yogyakarta schools, with data collected through observations, questionnaires, and documentation. Expert validation rated DINA as "Very Valid" (mean score 3.76/4), while children's responses showed high enthusiasm (mean score 3.60/4). DINA was easy to follow, engaging, and beneficial in enhancing motor skills, fitness, and cognitive function. The combination of fun music, simple moves, and ice-breaking elements made DINA enjoyable for children, promoting positive feelings and motivation. In conclusion, DINA is an effective and practical alternative physical activity model for children aged 9-10.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine how UiTM Puncak Alam rugby players' motivation and sportsmanship relate to one another. Data were gathered from 108 chosen rugby players using the Multidimensional Sportspersonship Orientations Scale (MSOS-25) and the Sport Motivation Scale (SMS-II). The results show that intrinsic and extrinsic motivational factors both play important roles in the major influence of motivation on sportsmanship conduct. Intrinsic motivation strengthens a sincere regard for the game, whereas extrinsic incentive—such as prizes and recognition—promotes sportsmanship by encouraging fair play and moral behaviour. According to normality tests, the data had an approximate normal distribution and were suitably distributed, with skewness and kurtosis values falling within acceptable bounds. These findings point to an evenly distributed motivating climate among the athletes. By shedding light on the many motivating variables that affect sportsmanship, the study helps coaches, educators, and sports psychologists improve their athlete development initiatives. Furthermore, sustaining high standards of sportsmanship depends on striking a balance between internal and extrinsic incentive. A heavy dependence on outside incentives might compromise true sportsmanship, yet a strong internal drive promotes morality and reverence for the game. The results underscore the significance of devising motivating tactics that include intrinsic and extrinsic components to foster comprehensive athlete growth. It is advised that further study be done to examine the long-term impacts of these motivating techniques on sportsmanship and performance in many sporting situations. This might result in the creation of athlete development and training programs that are more successful.

Abstract

Objective: To investigate the effects of constant-width and varied-width parachute running training on the 100-meter sprint performance of athletes from the North Medan Athletic Club in 2023 and to determine which training method is more effective. Methods: The entire population of 10 athletes from the North Medan Athletic Club was analyzed. The athletes underwent pretest and post-test measurements for their 100-meter sprint times. They were divided into two groups: one group was trained with constant-width parachute running, and the other group was trained with varied-width parachute running. Pretest and post-test data were analyzed using SPSS 21. Normality tests were conducted to ensure data distribution. Homogeneity of variance was tested to compare the variances between the two groups. A t-test was used to determine the significance of the differences in sprint times before training and after training, as well as the difference between constant and varied-width training. Results: All data were normally distributed and showed homogeneity. The t-test showed a statistically significant improvement in sprint times for athletes in both the constant-width (p < 0.05) and varied-width (p < 0.05) parachute running groups. Furthermore, a significant difference was found between the constant-width and varied-width training methods, with varied-width training showing a greater effect in increasing the sprint speed of athletes at the North Medan Athletic Club.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of a multi-sports program on enhancing object movement and Self- movement skills among preschool children. The primary objective was to assess the efficacy of the program in improving basic motor competencies, specifically in object and self-movement skills, using MOBAK (Herrmann.et.al.2018) testing instruments. Participants (N=200) were selected using a combination of simple random sampling and cluster sampling from preschools in Chennai, Bangalore, and Hyderabad. The program spanned 10 months and included a structured 30-minute class featuring warm-up exercises, rhythmic interventions, skill development activities, recreational sports, and cool down phases. Sports such as soccer, basketball, athletics, gymnastics, yoga, and cricket were included to offer a comprehensive approach to early childhood Physical Education. The study employed a paired sample t-test to analyse the differences in pre-test and post-test scores. Results indicated a significant improvement in the children’s motor skills, with mean scores increasing from 17.82 in the pre-test to 21.16 in the post-test. The calculated t-value of 6.5 surpassed the critical value of 1.97, affirming the program’s positive impact on enhancing motor skills. The multi-sports program effectively improved the physical abilities and motor skills of pre-schoolers, suggesting its potential for broader implementation. Recommendations include expanding the program to more cities, regular coachs training, parent involvement, continuous progress monitoring, and integrating additional activities for overall development.

Abstract

Introduction: In daily routines, especially in heavy weight lifting activities, grip strength is important. This study aims to investigate grip strength with muscle mass and fat mass in the arms. Methods: Cross-sectional study with the subjects of this study were 45 students (15 females and 30 males) with male characteristics (age 19.8±0.83, height 168±6.10, weight 64.7±11.5, BMI 22.9±3.82) while in women (age 20±0.78, height 159.3±4.43, weight 57.3±11.6, BMI 22.6±4.33). Spearman correlation from SPSS version 26 with a significance level of P-value < 0.05. Finding: Based on the data, there was no significant correlation between grip strength and muscle ma and arm fat mass. Then the muscle mass of the right side with (P-value: 0.079, r: 0.265) and the left side (P-value: 0.059, r: 0.284), while the mass of fat on the right side (P-value: 0.090, r-value -0.256) and the mass of fat on the left (P-value: 0.180, r-value: -0.204). Conclusion: This study proves that there is no correlation between grip strength and muscle mass or arm fat mass.

Abstract

Sports are one of the means of shaping individual and collective character and national spirit. One of the Student Athletics Championship events is a school-level athletic competition to find potential seeds in Indonesia ranging from elementary to high school students. This competition is held starting from regional qualifications to the National Championship. Participants who participated were 32,000 from more than 200 schools and the most participants came from East Java, namely 5104 participants. This study aims to determine the athletes’ thoughts on the Student Athletics Championship event in assessing the negative and positive impacts of the event. The research design used was descriptive cross-sectional with a survey method of 71 athletic athletes selected by random sampling. The study was conducted at the Thor Field, Surabaya in March-October 2024. The instrument used was a post-event survey question with 4 question perspectives, namely the level of satisfaction with the initial stage of organizing the event, belief in the benefits of participating in the event, the level of satisfaction with the final stage of assessment and reward-giving, and plans and recommendations to friends or relatives to participate in the next event. The data analysis used in this study was descriptive. The study results showed that most athletes had a positive perception of participating in the 2023 SAC event and believed they would participate and recommend the next SAC event with an average of 97% (69 athletes). Athletes who participated stated that the 2023 SAC.
