Abstract

Waste management is a crucial thing to do as a form of responsibility for protecting the environment. However, sometimes ignorant hands cannot be conditioned, so that waste management is often not optimal. Not to mention that during the Covid-19 pandemic, the current capacity for waste is not just ordinary waste, but now medical waste is also included in the list of waste that needs to be managed properly and appropriately. Knowing that medical waste has a tendency to transmit advanced disease, various forms of policies and strategies are carried out by the government and medical personnel so that the management of medical waste can be handled properly. This writing used a descriptive qualitative method. The sources used rely on electronic media such as journals or electronic official websites and related books. The results of this paper conclude that the Indonesian government is expected to provide a forum and make it easier for medical personnel and related parties to manage medical waste appropriately and according to standards.

Abstract

Lake Poso in Central Sulawesi Province holds a lot of potential, namely as a source of clean water, producing electricity, tourism and aquatic biodiversity. The increasing number of residents on the outskirts of Lake Poso, causes pollution in Lake Poso in the form of household waste and agricultural runoff. The purpose of the study was to assess the economic aspects of Lake Poso in terms of the benefits of the lake. An assessment of the Lake Poso ecosystem with a market-based approach was carried out, through the collection of market data on lake users. The data includes the price of PDAM water of Rp 2,000/m3, the price of rice was Rp 8,000/kg, and the price of eel was Rp 80,000/kg. Based on these costs, the results obtained are: First, the value of the benefits of clean water was Rp. 1,132,624,200. Second, the value of water as water for agricultural irrigation was Rp 17,040,000,000. Third, the value of benefits from the production of eel was Rp 1,600,000,000. The total value of the benefits of Lake Poso was Rp 19,772,624,200.

Abstract

Clean water is very important to ensure the survival of all living things, especially humans. Clean water contributes directly and indirectly to economic and ecology. The purpose of this study was to predict the monetary value of Springs Sembat resources as a provider of raw water in 2021 using the real market price method. The research was conducted on December 9, 2021, in the Springs Sembat area, which is administratively located in Kota Baru District, Jambi City, Jambi Province. The data were analyzed using economic valuation techniques. This valuation examines the direct use value of the use of the Sembat Springs source, namely the market value of the quantity of water produced minus the cost of water treatment. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the direct use value of the Sembat Springs ecosystem in 2021 was IDR 807,800,000, without considering the aspects of maintaining water treatment equipment, maintenance of distribution pipes, and worker wages.

Abstract

Waste is unwanted residual material after a process is complete. Garbage that is not managed properly will lead to waste problems. Gunungsitoli City is one of the areas experiencing solid waste problems. Increasing population growth results in more and more waste generation. Garbage services in Gunungsitoli City are still 49.1% so that there are still 50.9% of people who have not been served. The aim of this research was to determine the processing of organic waste to reduce the waste that goes to the landfill. The research method used was descriptive qualitative analysis by analyzing waste management at the study site and providing recommendations for other waste management. The average amount of waste generated per day in Gunungsitoli City in 2020 is 133,828 m3/years. The most waste generated in Gunungsitoli City is organic waste by 71% and inorganic waste by 29%. Waste processing in Gunungsitoli City is carried out at the TPA by composting. Another alternative for processing organic waste that can be done is processing organic waste using maggot. In addition, organic waste processing also needs to be done with a recycling process.

Abstract

Restaurant’s consumers become one of the biggest food waste producers. With the increasing number of population and restaurants in Dramaga District, Bogor Regency, it is very possible that the amount of food waste generated also increases. The driving factors for consumers to waste their food could be the bad eating habits, poor restaurant management and the lack of knowledge about its negative effects towards environment, social and economic. This study aimed to evaluate the amount of plate-waste, to estimate the economic losses of plate-waste and to determine the best effort in reducing consumer’s food waste. This research was conducted in Dramaga District, Bogor Regency. The methods use in this research were Measurement and Calculation by SNI 19-3964-1994, conversion factor and Weighted Sum Model (WSM). The result shows that the total of food waste generated from consumers were 75,825,96 kg/year. The economic losses based on the raw price of food ingredients were IDR 1,011,743,415 per year, based on the selling price of food were IDR 5,138,912,541 per year and based on production cost were IDR 4,111,130,033 per year.
