Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in restrictions on people's daily activities. Including the Yogyakarta area which is famous for its tourism and education center. Changes indirectly allow changes in the rate of waste generation. The purpose of this study was to determine changes in the generation of waste generated in Yogyakarta during the pandemic and before. This study uses secondary data for data on waste generation and population in Yogyakarta City, Sleman Regency, and Gunung Kidul Regency. Analysis was performed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) with software. Waste generation in district areas tends to decrease compared to urban areas. However, judging from the rate of waste generation, the Yogyakarta City tends to decrease, while in the district it is increasing. When viewed from the ANOVA test, there was no significant change in waste generation during the Covid-19 pandemic. This also needs to be a concern where a decrease in waste generation is not always followed by a decrease in the rate of waste generation.

Abstract

The Pundong District was the epicenter of a magnitude 6.3 SR earthquake with a shallow depth of around 10 kilometers that occurred in 2006. According to statistics on tectonic earthquake casualties in the Pundong sub-district, 152 people were killed in the village of Panjangrejo, 696 people were badly injured, and 1,220 people sustained minor injuries. There were a total of 2,704 homes destroyed, and 2,293 were severely damaged. The aim of the research was to assess the carrying capacity of the land in earthquake-prone populated areas. If residential property is developed in excess of the land's carrying capacity, it will have a negative influence on environmental quality and may even cause natural disasters. Multiple physical data were combined using the overlay technique. On the basis of the categorization of the level land carrying for settlement area, the results indicate that the carrying capacity for settlement area in the earthquake affected Panjangrejo Village, Pundong District, Bantul Regency falls into two classes: appropriate and less suitable. Class I (appropriate) residential land is 2,897,050 m2 with a 54% carrying capacity, whereas class II (less suitable) residential land is 2,498,076 m2 with a 46% carrying capacity.

Abstract

High anthropogenic activities have an impact on land use change that threatens lake ecosystems in various parts of the world. The socio-economic condition of the local community is one of the main factors affecting land use on the lakeshores. Government policies related to lake protection are important in the lake ecosystems management, especially land use in the lakeshore zones. This paper aimed to investigate lake management in agricultural areas in various countries such as Poland, China, and Indonesia. By conducting this comparison, management of the lake ecosystems including the land use of the surrounding area have been discovered. Through case study analysis and policy analysis issued by the central government, the positive and negative effects of each policy related to lake management could be obtained. The results showed that in several European countries, the trend of lakes utilization for tourism areas is increasing. China, a country with rapid economic growth, has begun to restore agricultural land into wetlands and lake ecosystem. Meanwhile, the high demand for food in Indonesia causes agricultural areas in the lakeshore zones difficult to convert.

Abstract

Islamic boarding schools are Islamic institutions that can make an important contribution to environmental care. Islamic boarding schools are an essential element and can form agents of change in people's behavior and attitudes towards the environment. This study aims to examine the level of students' knowledge, the attitudes and the behavior of students at Darut Tafsir Islamic Boarding School towards the environment. and to analyze the relationship among the three. This research was conducted at Darut Tafsir Islamic Boarding School, Ciampea, Bogor from February to April 2022. This study used multiple regression analysis to analyze the relationship between students' knowledge and conservation attitudes and students' environmental behavior. Descriptive analysis is used to see the level of environmental knowledge, conservation attitudes and environmental behavior of students. The results of the study showed that the average level of environmental knowledge among students was 73.5%, and the attitude towards conservation was 60.5%. Students' environmental behavior averaged 65.3%. The coefficient of determination R2 in the regression is 0.639, meaning that the contribution of environmental knowledge and conservation attitudes to environmental behavior is only 63.9%. To improve students' environmental behavior, it is necessary to improve environmental education in the boarding schools.

Abstract

Bunaken National Park is a special interest tourism destination with diving as the main attraction. Bunaken National Park is not only famous for the diversity of marine life such as fish, mammals, and marine reptiles, but also famous for its unique underwater landscape in the form of coral reef walls which are the main attraction for underwater photographers. The increase in tourist visits has caused damage to the coral reefs on Bunaken Island. Other damages can be caused by nature such as storms, coral disease, starfish abundance, crown of thorn and coral bleaching. Based on these problems, this study set the following objectives: to measure the health level of corals in the Bunaken Island area, Bunaken National Park, North Sulawesi Province. The method used for data collection in this study was to use a coralwatch table with a random sampling method. The results denoted that the Pangalisang and Fukui dive areas were on a scale of 4 while the Muka Kampung area was on a scale of 3.

Abstract

PLTU Kotabaru (2 x 7 MW) is a power plant that has 2 turbines with a capacity of 7 MW each and is located in Sigam Village, Kota Baru Regency, South Kalimantan Province. Surface water monitoring was carried out to see the impact caused by the construction of the Kotabaru PLTU in affecting the quality of surface water by determining its quality status. Parameters that exceed the quality standard are TSS, TDS, BOD, COD, DO, total coliform and fecal coliform. The STORET method identified that the classification of surface water quality was classified as heavily polluted. While the pollution index method identified that the classification of surface water quality was included in the lightly polluted category. The high quality standards in several parameters were not caused by the construction activities of the PLTU Kotabaru (2 x 7 MW) but from domestic activities in the form of sewage disposal and industrial activities around the Kemuning River.
