Abstract

This study aims to examine and describe the grammatical semantic aspects found in the lyrics of the album Menari dengan Bayangan by Hindia, focusing on four main elements: reference, substitution, ellipsis, and conjunction. The research employs a descriptive qualitative method with a grammatical semantics approach. Data were collected through documentation and observation of song lyrics, and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman data analysis model. The findings indicate that exophoric personal reference is the most dominant form, reflecting the emotional relationships among the lyrical subjects. Substitution is utilized as a stylistic strategy to replace nouns or phrases, while ellipsis appears in both nominal and clausal forms to convey implicit meaning efficiently. Conjunctions are used in various types causal, adversative, sequential, and additive to maintain cohesion and coherence across the lyrics. This study demonstrates that Hindia's lyrics function not only as a medium for emotional expression but also as a complex linguistic structure. The implications include expanding the application of grammatical semantics in popular literary texts and strengthening interdisciplinary approaches in language and cultural studies.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of group counseling integrating Problem-Based Learning (PBL) with the traditional Indonesian Dakon game to reduce academic burnout among five high-burnout students in Class XI-5 at SMAN 3 Kediri. Conducted through two cycles of classroom action research, the intervention combined PBL’s critical thinking and collaborative problem-solving with Dakon’s culturally relevant, interactive format, modified with reflective question cards addressing burnout causes and coping strategies. Data were collected via a 58-item burnout scale (Cronbach’s alpha = 0.87), observations, student reflections, and teacher evaluations, with validity ensured through triangulation, member checking, peer debriefing, and audit trails. Pre-intervention, all students exhibited high burnout. Post-Cycle I, 60% remained high, while 40% shifted to moderate. After Cycle II refinements, including contextualized questions and rewards, 60% reached moderate and 40% low burnout, with increased engagement and emotional resilience. The PBL-Dakon approach, rooted in cultural familiarity, fosters autonomy and social connection, aligning with Self-Determination Theory. Practically, it offers a cost-effective, replicable model for school counselors to address burnout, leveraging Indonesia’s cultural heritage to enhance student well-being.

Abstract

This action research evaluates the effectiveness of psychodrama-based group counseling in reducing interpersonal communication anxiety among seven 11th-grade students at SMAN 3 Kediri, identified with high anxiety levels (PRCA-24 scores >70). Conducted over two cycles of Guidance and Counseling Action Research (PTBK), each 45-minute session incorporated warm-up, enactment, and sharing phases. Data were collected using a 24-item anxiety scale (Cronbach’s α = 0.87), observations, student reflections, and counselor evaluations, analyzed via descriptive statistics, N-Gain, Wilcoxon signed-rank tests, and thematic coding. Pre-intervention, the average anxiety score was 72.14. Post-Cycle I, it decreased to 55.57 (N-Gain = 0.22), with 43% of students reaching moderate levels. Cycle II refinements, including relatable scenarios and assertiveness training, reduced the average to 39.50 (N-Gain = 0.45, p = 0.018), with all students achieving moderate anxiety. Psychodrama’s experiential, group-based approach, aligned with Indonesia’s collectivist culture, fostered peer support and emotional resilience. This cost-effective, culturally sensitive intervention offers a replicable model for school counselors to enhance students’ communication skills and well-being, with implications for broader educational applications.

Abstract

This study investigates the reading strategies employed by 32 higher education students while completing the TOEFL Reading Comprehension section. The participants were categorized into three performance groups: excellent (10%), fair (50%), and poor (40%). Using a mixed-methods approach, this research examines the strategies most commonly used, their correlation with test scores, and provides recommendations for improving reading comprehension skills. The findings highlight that effective strategies such as contextual guessing, scanning, and skimming were commonly used, while time management and in-depth analysis were essential for differentiating high performers from low performers. Students with higher scores prioritized time management, paraphrasing, and skimming to grasp the structure before deep reading, while students with lower scores often resorted to word-for-word translation, leading to inefficiency. These results emphasize the importance of strategic reading in TOEFL performance. The study suggests that programs focused on enhancing reading strategies could significantly improve TOEFL reading scores. This study contributes to the understanding of how strategic reading can influence the success of non-native English speakers in standardized tests. Further research is needed to explore more targeted interventions for improving reading strategies among diverse student groups.

Abstract

This study explores the cultural role of weton, a traditional Javanese calendrical system, in determining auspicious marriage dates in Ngadiluwih, Kediri. Using a Jungian archetypal framework and qualitative descriptive methods, data were collected through interviews with two adat leaders and observations of local wedding rituals. The findings reveal that favorable weton pairings such as Sunday Legi and Friday Wage embody archetypes of harmony (tentrem), affection (jodo), and social cohesion (rukun). In contrast, combinations like Tuesday Kliwon and Wednesday Wage reflect shadow archetypes associated with conflict (pegat), hardship (mlarat), and emotional distress (sengsara). These patterns function as cultural symbols rooted in the collective unconscious, guiding moral and practical choices in marriage. The study highlights weton as a living symbolic system and proposes its integration into cultural education and heritage preservation programs.

Abstract

This study explores the use of conversational implicature in the "Sasa Tepung Bumbu Premium Collection" advertisement, with a specific focus on the slogan "Ada Rasa Ada Harga" (There is Taste, There is Price). It aims to uncover how the advertisement conveys persuasive and symbolic messages through deliberate violations of Grice's maxims. Combining pragmatic discourse analysis with a multimodal framework, the study analyzes verbal utterances alongside visual elements such as gesture, tone, music, and scene composition. Findings reveal that the advertisement uses ambiguity, metaphor, and visual reinforcement to construct emotional and symbolic value. The novelty lies in its integration of implicature theory, affective marketing, and multimodal analysis in the Indonesian advertising context, offering both academic insights and practical implications for marketers.

Abstract

This research examines the influence of motivation, discipline, and academic achievement on the entrepreneurial intentions of students in the Management Study Program at Universitas Nusantara PGRI Kediri. Utilizing a quantitative approach with a causal-comparative design, data were gathered from 130 final-year students selected through purposive sampling. Data collection involved distributing Likert-scale questionnaires online via Google Forms, ensuring accessibility and efficiency. The analysis employed multiple linear regression using SPSS version 26, preceded by validity, reliability, and classical assumption tests (normality, multicollinearity, and heteroscedasticity). The results indicate that motivation (t=1.981, Sig.=0.000), discipline (t=2.384, Sig.=0.000), and achievement (t=2.178, Sig.=0.001) each have a significant positive effect on entrepreneurial intention. Collectively, these variables account for 62.2% of the variation in entrepreneurial intention (R²=0.622, F=3.384, Sig.=0.001). These findings highlight the pivotal role of motivation, discipline, and achievement in fostering entrepreneurial interest among students, providing valuable insights for higher education institutions to develop targeted entrepreneurship programs that enhance these attributes to prepare students as innovative and competent entrepreneurs.
