Abstract

In the agricultural sector, Semboro District is the main source of orange producers in Jember Regency. The bulk of the people that live in the Semboro District are farmers, and they created this. The issue in Semboro District's Sidomulyo Village is that farmers haven't been able to make the most of their leftover orange crop. The agricultural industry can handle the remaining oranges. It is possible for this industry to handle oranges that are unfit for consumption. KKN students in Sidomulyo Village are attempting to process orange waste by offering outreach in managing orange waste in an effort to turn it into an environmentally friendly organic fertilizer. To ensure sustainable management of the organic matter, farmers and the Thematic KKN Team 13 collaborate to maximize the use of organic fertilizer. This orange trash trial revealed that adding stale rice to orange waste MOL activates trichoderma, allowing the MOL to be utilized as a pesticide and enhance soil structure.

Abstract

Awareness of hypertension is becoming increasingly important in the elderly population due to its serious health implications. This study aims to identify the level of awareness about hypertension among the elderly through a literature review. Literature search methods were conducted through online databases such as PubMed, Google Scholar, and Scopus using relevant keywords. The results indicate that awareness of hypertension among the elderly varies significantly depending on factors such as education, knowledge level of risks, access to healthcare services, and cultural aspects. These factors influence the prevention behavior and management of hypertension in the elderly. Therefore, appropriate health education programs and interventions need to be introduced to enhance awareness of hypertension among the elderly. Further research is required to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges faced in increasing awareness and preventive actions against hypertension in the elderly population, thereby enhancing their quality of life and well-being.

Abstract

In facing the era of environmental uncertainty and the need for sustainable solutions, Black Soldier Fly (BSF) maggot cultivation has emerged as a promising alternative. The business potential of BSF maggots presents opportunities for communities in Pondok Dalem, Semboro, Jember, and various parts of the world. Socialization approach becomes crucial in integrating sustainable practices into daily life. BSF larvae bring innovation in organic waste management, reducing the burden on Landfills. However, awareness of the significant amount of organic waste disposed of remains low in society. The socialization approach involves preparation, im-plementation, and evaluation, utilizing pretest and posttest methods to measure participants' knowledge improvement using the n-gain calculation. The evaluation results show the effectiveness of socialization, with a mean n-gain score reaching 76.904%. It is hoped that this approach can continue to be utilized to expand its positive impact on local environments and economies and to in-troduce sustainable practices to communities at large. Thus, the use of socialization in introducing BSF maggot cultivation not only benefits the environment but also creates sustainable business opportunities and empowers community economies.

Stunting is a condition where a person experiences chronic nutritional problems that arise as a result of a condition of malnutrition that lasts for quite a long time. One of the problems with knowledge about stunting prevention is through the role of parents. One way to increase knowledge is through health promotion, namely by providing education about stunting. The results of this activity are increased knowledge and insight of parents about the importance of the role of parents in providing good nutrition as well as visits to posyandu to measure the height and weight of toddlers so they can monitor their children's growth and find out what signs and symptoms of stunting occur in toddlers and how to prevent it.

Abstract

Reading literacy is still a serious problem in Indonesia, the results of PISA (Program fot Internaiional Student Assesment) in 2022 show that Indonesia is still ranked 11th in the bottom of the 81 countries recorded, this will have an impact on the low knowledge of students in Indonesia. SDN Tisnogambar 02 is also still a school that does not like reading, according to a survey conducted by the Real Work Lecture (KKN) 03 group. Therefore, Pokja (Reading Corner) activities can be a forum for students to improve reading literacy in Indonesia, especially for SDN Tisnogambar 02, which is carried out by the Real Work Lecture (KKN) 03 group. Implementation of Pokca (Reading Corner) activities starts from the planning, preparation, implementation and evaluation stages, where incentives are carried out for one month. With this Pokca (Reading Corner) activity, the habit of reading at SDN Tisnogambar 02 students begins to develop, this leads to setundents’ interest in reading creasing.
