Abstract

The conflict between Israel and Palestine that occurred again in the Gaza Strip in October 2023 had a significant impact not only on the two countries but also on almost all countries in the world, including Indonesia. The boycott action carried out by the community against several companies that provide support in the genocide committed by the Israeli side is enough to have an impact on the financial stability of several companies. One of the companies that is also the target of this boycott is PT Unilever Indonesia Tbk. The method used in this study is to use some financial ratio analysis on the annual financial statements of PT Unilever Indonesia Tbk in 2022, namely before the boycott and in 2023, namely when the boycott occurred. The results of the financial ratio analysis show that the boycott has a significant impact on the company's financial stability, liquidity, solvency, and profitability.

Abstract

This study examines the strategies for developing underdeveloped areas in efforts to improve social welfare, particularly in Kulon Progo Regency. Kulon Progo Regency, like many other regions in Indonesia, faces challenges in harnessing local economic potential to enhance well-being in underdeveloped areas. This research aims to explore strategies that can be employed to stimulate local economic potential as a step towards more sustainable development in these areas. Qualitative research methods are used to gain in-depth insights into the local economic situation and the challenges faced by the people of Kulon Progo. The findings indicate that there is a diverse range of local economic potentials that can be utilized, such as agriculture, forestry, and fisheries. However, there are still barriers such as market access, limited infrastructure, and a lack of access to capital and technology. Therefore, collaborative efforts between the government, communities, and the private sector are needed to develop strategies that can maximize the utilization of local economic potential. Implementing supportive programs, training, and financing that address local needs can be an initial step in enhancing local economic potential and developing underdeveloped areas in Kulon Progo Regency.

Abstract

The effectiveness of BUMDES financial management in Demak Regency, especially in Gajah District, is the focus of this article. Through a qualitative approach and analysis of interviews and literature study, factors that influence the effectiveness of BUMDES financial management were identified. Adoption of clear SOPs, financial management training, and use of financial applications are positive steps. However, challenges such as access to training and resources still need to be overcome. Innovations such as the development of technology-based financial applications, ongoing training, and the implementation of an open financial reporting system are proposed to increase the effectiveness of BUMDES financial management. Support from local governments is key in ensuring the sustainability and success of BUMDES. Suggestions include providing further support in training and resources, optimizing the use of technology, encouraging inter-BUMDES cooperation, and increasing village community participation. By implementing these suggestions, it is hoped that BUMDES financial management can continue to be improved, have a positive impact on the welfare of village communities, and strengthen the role of BUMDES in local economic development. Abstract

Abstract: People's limited access to formal financial institutions leads to dependence on informal funding sources such as loan sharks. Islamic microfinance institutions such as Baitul Maal Wat Tamwil (BMT) have grown rapidly in the last 15 years to answer the needs of the community. BMT plays a role in improving community welfare through providing access to financing with sharia principles. This study examines BMT's strategy in improving financial access and community welfare by taking the case study of BMT Muamalat Limpung. BMT Muamalat applies mudharabah financing products with a profit sharing portion of 70:30 and 50:50. The target of financing is SMEs with assets of IDR 500,000 to IDR 60,000,000. BMT Muamalat offers a financing period of 1 to 4 months with a total financing of IDR 500,000 to IDR 60,000,000. This strategy aims to facilitate the working capital needs of SMEs in order to develop their business and improve welfare. The results showed that BMT plays a role in expanding financial access by reaching non-bankable communities and improving welfare through sharia-based SME financing.
