Abstract

Food is a must for human being. It is analog with the Eucharist for the Catholics. Based on the belief, therefore, this research is intended to see the attitude of the people and the teachings obtained in the celebration of Eucharist in shaping individual behavior. There are two characteristics of attitudes, positive and negative. The positives encourage the faithful to have fuller awareness and more active participation in the celebration. The negatives create in the heart and mind of them a kind of reluctance and compulsion in having it. To support the results of this research, it was conducted with qualitative and quantitative methods respectively. The first was done by focus group discussion (FGD) and the second by 222 respondents giving their answers to the questionnaire online. Smart-PLS tools were used as research instruments and to address the problems studied. There are seven hypotheses formed by the problems and the results accepted are only one: a positive attitude towards the Eucharist influences individual behavior in the Eucharist.  The attitude encourages the Catholics to get more involved in the celebration. This research contributes to the formation of the Catholics in having the celebration of the Eucharist in Catholic Church.

Abstract

This article aims to examine the issue regarding the declaration of nullity of marriage in the Ruteng  Diocese based on coercion and serious fear in the 2012-2022 period. By using qualitative methods with a literature study approach, the author tries to collect and analyze data obtained from various sources, especially diocesan Tribunal documents as the main reference, and other sources that are relevant and support the author’s argument. The results of this research show that compared with other cases, the number of declarations of nullity of marriage in the Ruteng Diocese based on force  and grave fear in the past 10 years is very high. This coercion and serious fear is caused, among other things, by family pressure, threats of physical violence and murder, threats of cutting off one’s genitals, and threats of suicide. The author argues that this problematic fact carries certain implications for pre-marital pastoral care. Serious attention to marriage preparation courses and canonical inquiry as part of pre-marital pastoral care is essential as an instrument for detecting defects of consensus.

Abstract

Sibaliparriq, a local wisdom rooted in Mandar cultural values, is pivotal in shaping children’s character within coastal families in Polewali Mandar. This research explores and analyzes the role of Sibaliparriq as an educational model and identifies the challenges of its implementation. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were gathered through observation, interviews, and documentation from 12 coastal families applying Sibaliparriq in child-rearing. The findings show that Sibaliparriq significantly influences child education in several ways: it fosters a harmonious household through cooperation and shared responsibility; helps meet children’s needs, including food, clothing, education, and entertainment;  it supports the educational process by guiding parents in teaching essential values and norms;  enhances character development, instilling manners, firmness, and gentleness; it aids in imparting religious values; it prepares children to interact respectfully in society; and helps prevent social deviant behavior through proper guidance and role modeling. Challenges include modernization and globalization affecting traditional values, limited resources for Sibaliparriq-based education, and a shift towards formal education over local wisdom.

Abstract

The government’s determination of the pandemic status of COVID-19 has changed almost all lines of people’s lives, from the economy, and health infrastructure, to education. The rapid transmission of COVID-19 cases has made the government implement Distance Learning (DL) at all school levels, including elementary school levels. The implementation of DL makes elementary school children potentially experience learning loss. On the other hand, working mothers who are used to handing over educational matters to schools find it difficult to accompany children’s DL at home. Therefore, this study aims to determine the typification of parenting carried out by working mothers in accompanying children’s distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. The case study method was used in conjunction with a qualitative descriptive research design. The researchers gathered primary data by interviewing five informants, all of whom were working mothers, as well as one psychologist. The findings revealed that women employ monopoly communication patterns while speaking with their children; mothers are perceived as authorities who make ultimate judgments. Furthermore, helpful and sympathetic communications are used by working mothers. Researchers found three characteristics of working mothers’ care during the pandemic, namely over- empathy, life vest, and supportive.
