Abstract

Healthcare preferences in urban and rural communities are shaped by a range of economic, cultural, and infrastructural factors, influencing access to traditional and modern medicine. This study examines the determinants of healthcare choices, highlighting disparities in accessibility and healthcare utilization. A systematic review methodology was employed, analyzing peer-reviewed literature from databases such as PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar. Inclusion criteria focused on studies addressing community perceptions, healthcare access, and integrative healthcare models. Findings indicate that rural communities continue to rely on traditional medicine due to accessibility and cultural significance, while urban populations predominantly utilize modern medical services due to better infrastructure and preventive healthcare access. Financial constraints and inadequate healthcare infrastructure were identified as key barriers limiting modern healthcare accessibility in rural areas. The study also highlights the increasing recognition of integrative healthcare models, demonstrating their potential in addressing healthcare disparities by combining traditional and modern practices. The findings underscore the need for policy interventions to enhance healthcare equity, including government-led initiatives to integrate traditional medicine into national healthcare frameworks, investments in rural healthcare infrastructure, and the promotion of telemedicine solutions. Future research should explore the effectiveness of integrative models in improving health outcomes and investigate scalable digital healthcare solutions for rural populations. This study contributes to the growing discourse on healthcare accessibility, emphasizing the need for culturally inclusive and equitable healthcare systems.

Abstract

Microplastic contamination in urban water systems is a growing concern due to its ecological and health impacts. This review explores the sources, transport mechanisms, and public health implications of microplastics in urban water systems. A systematic review was conducted using PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar, targeting peer reviewed articles from the last decade. Selection criteria emphasized studies linking plastic pollution to water quality and human health. Microplastics are prevalent in urban rivers, lakes, and wastewater treatment plants, with concentrations varying by region and waste management practices. Key sources include single use plastics, urban runoff, and ineffective filtration in treatment plants. Human exposure occurs through drinking water and food consumption, with potential risks such as endocrine disruption and toxic bioaccumulation.Effective mitigation requires integrated approaches including advanced treatment technologies, stricter regulations, and public engagement. Further research should address detection standardization and long term health risks.

Abstract

Mental health literacy plays a crucial role in fostering adolescent well-being by enhancing knowledge, reducing stigma, and encouraging help-seeking behaviors. This study examines the effectiveness of mental health literacy interventions and their impact on adolescent perceptions and behaviors. Using a qualitative research design, data were collected through in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and observations among adolescents in Palu, Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. Thematic analysis identified key themes: emotional turbulence and social expectations, diverse responses to mental health challenges, and the role of education and support systems. Findings suggest that school-based interventions and family engagement significantly improve mental health literacy. However, cultural stigma and gender disparities persist as major barriers. Digital platforms were identified as influential but require structured guidance to enhance reliability. The study underscores the need for holistic, culturally sensitive, and gender-responsive approaches to mental health education. Policy recommendations include integrating mental health literacy into educational curricula and community programs. Further research should explore long-term intervention effectiveness and cross-cultural applicability.

Abstract

Adolescent mental health literacy (MHL) is essential for fostering awareness, reducing stigma, and improving help-seeking behaviors. This study explores the barriers and facilitators of MHL among adolescents in Palu, Indonesia, through a qualitative phenomenological approach. Data were collected via in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and participant observations, analyzed using thematic analysis. Findings reveal that while adolescents recognize mental health as an important aspect of well-being, their knowledge is largely shaped by social media, often leading to misinformation. Structural barriers, including the lack of mental health education in schools and limited access to professional services, exacerbate this issue. Cultural and familial stigmas further discourage open discussions and professional help-seeking. Adolescents primarily seek support from peers rather than professionals due to fear of judgment. To enhance MHL, interventions must integrate school-based education, peer support networks, and digital campaigns promoting evidence-based information. Community-based approaches, including parental education and stigma reduction initiatives, are also necessary. This study contributes to existing literature by providing culturally specific insights into adolescent MHL and suggesting targeted intervention strategies. Future research should focus on evaluating intervention effectiveness in diverse socio-cultural contexts.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of e-Health applications has transformed medical information seeking behavior, offering new opportunities for improved healthcare accessibility and patient empowerment. This study systematically reviews the impact of e-Health applications on online medical information seeking behavior, focusing on accessibility, credibility, and user engagement. A comprehensive literature review was conducted using major academic databases, including PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar. The findings reveal a substantial increase in the use of digital health platforms, with telemedicine and mobile-Health applications becoming primary sources of medical information. However, concerns regarding digital literacy, misinformation, and data privacy persist. The study highlights the need for enhanced regulatory frameworks, greater involvement of healthcare professionals in e-Health development, and the implementation of educational initiatives to improve-Health literacy. The integration of e-Health applications into national healthcare policies is recommended to optimize their effectiveness and accessibility. Future research should focus on evaluating the long term impacts of e-Health solutions and their role in addressing health disparities. This study contributes to the growing discourse on digital health by emphasizing the importance of policy development and education in maximizing the benefits of e-Health applications.
