Abstract

  The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of variations in the type of mold and the addition of dry cell powder marks on the porosity results remelting of Al-Si piston-based scars with 9% Si.This study used three different types of mold there were wet sand mold, dry sand mold and metal mold. Variations addition of dry cell powder is used as much as 0,30%, 0,50% and 0,70% by weight. Data obtained by calculating the porosity on each specimen and taking macro photos. From the calculated porosity created graphs to analyze. This research method using descriptive analysis. The results of this study show that the highest porosity occurs in the variations wet sand mold and additions powder dry cell by weight as much as 0.50% porosity by 3,1447%. The lowest porosity occur in variations metal molds and adding powder dry cell as much as 0,70% by the porosity of 0,1635%. Trought macro photos, metal mold can product smooth surface than sand mold. By this research, the use of metal molds can produce castings with a smooth surface and low porosity. In addition dry cell powder 0,30% and 0,50% led to increased porosity, while the addition cell dry powder 0,70% can reduce the porosity in castings results. This happens in all kinds of molds.

Abstract

The purpose of this research are to know the effect of variations material composition of corncobs powder, brass powder, MgO and polyester resin for hardness value and wear value. Beside that to know the variation of brake lining material composition which the most optimal and approximate standart of value Indopart brake lining.This research is an experimental research and analysis data which used descriptive analysis techniques. The research and testing which have been done consist of several steps, including the manufacture of specimens (mixing of materials, compaction process, sintering process), taking macro photo, Brinell of hardness testing and Ogoshi of wear testing.The result of research indicate that if composition percentage of corncobs powder more than brass powder percentage it cause hardness value smaller and wear value greater. This is because the nature of corncobs powder is softer than brass powder. The most optimal composition that approaches the standard of Indopart brake lining is with 18.5 kg/mm2 of hardness value and 0.87 × 10-8 mm2/kg of wear value is at 30% composition of corncobs powder, 30% of brass powder, 20% of MgO and 20% of resin. In that composition produce 17.1 kg/mm2 of hardness value and 0.80 × 10-8 mm2/kg of wear value. The results of research indicate that variations in the composition of constituent material have an influence on hardness value and wear value. Brake lining material composition which approximate standart of hardness value and wear value can applying in the motorcycle?s.

Abstract

  Serbuk bambu dapat digunakan sebagai alternatif material kampas rem non-asbestos sepeda motor. Dalam penelitian ini, pada komposisi serbuk bambu 35%, aluminium 15%, MgO 35%, resin 15% memiliki angka yang paling mendekati dengan kampas rem pembanding. Komposisi serbuk bambu 35%, aluminium 15%, MgO 35%, resin 15% memiliki angka keausan 0,82.10-8 mm2/kg. Komposisi serbuk bambu 35%, aluminium 15%, MgO 35%, resin 15% memiliki angka kekerasan 19,6 kg/mm2. Dengan melakukan variasi komposisi akan didapat angka keausan dan kekerasan yang paling optimum. Variasi komposisi serbuk bambu sangat berpengaruh terhadap angka keausan dan angka kekerasan sampel kampas rem.

Abstract

  Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk tujuan: mengetahui komposisi kimia paduan aluminium, struktur mikro, tingkat kekerasan dan kekuatan impak sebelum dan sesudah dilakukan pengelasan dengan metode pengelasan MIG pada cast wheel aluminium menggunakan elektroda ER 5356. Material yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah cast wheel aluminium dengan spesifikasi, jenis E35 dimensi 16x7, PCD 4x120. Alat yang digunakan dalam uji komposisi kimia, uji struktur mikro, uji kekerasan dan uji impak secara berturut-turut adalah Spectrometer Metal Scan, Olympus Metallurgycal Microscope, Brinell Hardness Tester dan Charpy Tester. Hasil uji komposisi kimia menunjukkan bahwa cast wheel aluminium mengandung unsur Al 91,36%, Si 7,38% dan Fe 0,803% serta Cu dan Mg sekitar 0,05%. Dari hasil uji struktur mikro menunjukkan bahwa struktur butiran Al pada daerah HAZ menyatu dengan aluminium primer (?-Al) dan butiran Si membentuk paduan Si primer diantara ?-Al. Hasil uji kekerasan pada spesimen pada raw material 57,56 kgf/mm², pada daerah las 44,20 kgf/mm² dan daerah HAZ 37,73 kgf/mm². Hasil uji impak pada raw material 0,118 Joule/mm² sedangkan daerah las adalah 0,067 Joule/mm².
