Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has profoundly impacted the education and work sectors, resulting in significant transformations. The prevalence of online learning and remote employment has necessitated adaptation within numerous institutions, including university libraries like the Unikom Library, to cater to the needs of their readers effectively. Initially, the Unikom Library encountered challenges due to its primary emphasis on printed books in its collection, with digital collections not yet receiving significant attention. This poses a challenge in delivering sufficient services. To address this issue, the Unikom Library implemented an innovative approach by incorporating electronic materials into the Learning Management System (LMS), namely Moodle, a platform for online education. This aims to comprehensively account for successfully integrating the Unikom Library e-resources program with the LMS, employing a unified access approach. Consequently, incorporating library materials into the LMS has demonstrated significant efficacy amidst the epidemic, as evidenced by increased user engagement. This observation indicates that the electronic resources accessible through the LMS at the Unikom Library have emerged as a viable and efficient option for readers seeking reference materials. The integration of electronic resources with the LMS has been beneficial for the Unikom Library, enabling it to maintain its relevance and effectively cater to the needs of its users among the challenges posed by the current circumstances. The statement above underscores the significance of adaptability and innovation as crucial factors in addressing the various issues encountered by educational institutions and libraries amidst the digital era and ongoing pandemic.

Abstract

As time goes by, traditional printed books have shifted to electronic formats. This research aims to determine the level of reading engagement of Hermina Manggala Husada Nursing Academy students regarding physical and electronic books. The quantitative and qualitative approach involves filling out questionnaires and interviews. The population studied were students registered at Hermina Manggala Husada Nursing Academy, especially at levels one, two, and three. Research findings show that Hermina Manggala Husada Nursing Academy students prefer to read books, either in physical or electronic format, without thinking about the medium. Based on the responses obtained from the questionnaire, it was determined that 35 people, equivalent to 50% of the sample size (70), expressed a greater inclination towards reading physical books compared to electronic books. On the other hand, a small number of respondents, including four people or 5.7% of the sample, disagreed with the statement that they prefer physical books over electronic books. Regarding the accessibility of physical and electronic books, the individual stated that obtaining both formats is very easy. Based on calculations, 38 people, including 54.3% of the 70 samples, agreed with easy access to electronic and physical books. The product of 4.3% and 70 equals three individuals with different viewpoints. Physical and electronic books continue to captivate readers because of the inherent value of the information they carry. Electronic and print media are modes of communication and information dissemination. Preserving and cultivating a love of reading is very important.

Abstract

In the ever-evolving digital era, libraries increasingly face the challenge of remaining relevant and connected to a fast-moving society. To expand reach and increase engagement, libraries are now involving themselves in social media platforms, and one of them is TikTok. Libraries' use of the live TikTok feature is a progressive step in presenting information, promoting collections, and building communities in cyberspace. Live TikTok provides a dynamic platform for librarians to communicate in real-time with patrons. How can this development improve the library's On-Fleek Promotion concept in interacting with today's digital society? The research method used is qualitative with an observational approach. Data was collected through direct observation of library live broadcasts on TikTok, including interactions between librarians and users, the type of content presented, and user responses. Analysis is carried out by detailing the findings that emerge from these interactions. The research results show that TikTok's live feature provides an interactive platform for libraries to communicate directly with followers. Observations reveal that live TikTok is effective in building user engagement, especially through comments, likes, and virtual gifts. Librarians can actively respond to questions, provide book recommendations, and explain library services. By combining qualitative and observational research methods, this study provides an in-depth understanding of the dynamics of interactions in the library's live TikTok environment. The implications of these findings provide guidance for libraries in designing more effective content strategies and enriching user experiences on these social media platforms.
