Abstract

Sebelah fish (Psettodes spp.) is a demersal fish, which live in swallow waters and flat bottom. This fish can be caught using fish net, drift gill nets, and set gill nets. The purpose of this research was to determine the potential of sustainable with optimum effort, utilization rates and insistence, sustainability and management of fish resources in Malacca Strait. Research had been conducted in Mei – September 2014. The analysis of secondary data from 2009 – 2013 obtained from the Department of Marine and Fisheries Serdang Bedagai regency and Department of Marine and Fisheries North Sumatra province, and primary data obtained by performed questionnaires correspondent with the fishermen about the sustainability of Sebelah fish. The potential of sustainable prediction performed with Fox model. The result shown that MSY was 1.708.839 kg/year and optimum effort was 47.076 trips/year. Average utilization rate of 58,86% with an average insistence rate of 62,34%, while allowable catch 1.367.071 kg/year. The dimensional ecological, social, tecnological and ethical of Sebelah fish included in the sustainable category. The economic dimension included in the fairly continuous category. The management efforts was by selectivity of fishing gear, disallowance of fishing gear and control of fishing effort. Keywords: Psettodes spp., potential, utilization, sustainability, Malacca Strait.

Abstract

Greasy Grouper (E. tauvina) is a popular fish among Indonesian. Pest and disease of greasy grouper becomes one the most important factors of the success of the aquaculture of the Greasy Grouper. Greasy grouper with disease syimtomt were taken from Floating Net Cages (FNC) located in Belawan. This study aimed toobserve disease potential pathogenic bacteria, which infected the greasy grouper and was also foundin FNC. The study was conducted from May to August 2014 in SKIPM Laboratory of Class I Medan II. The isolation and characterization of the bacterial pathogen of the greasy grouper and FNC water was condacted using dilution methods. Three species of potential phatogenic bacteria were found i.e Aeromonas salmonicida, Edwardsiella ictaluri, and Vibrio harveyi. Keywords:Epinephelus tauvina, Floating Net Cages, Bacterial pathogens

Abstract

Bilih Fish (Mystacoleucus padangensis Bleeker) is fishing commodities in the Aek Alian River District Toba Samosir. Aek Alian River recently becomes a source of fish production Bilih Fish. The presence of this fish is could help the economy of people surrounding, but activities of catching uncontroled is one of the cause of decreasing of fish population. This Study has the objectives on accessing the growth and condition factor in the Aek Alian River. Research was conducted in May to Juni 2014. by using Purposive Sampling method. Stations spreaded among river with the station I (upstream), station II (midstream), and station III (estuaries). Primary data consisted of a total length and weight in individual fish of Bilih from the field. The sample number of Bilih fish were 281 individuals which consisted of 82 male and 199 female. The growth pattern (B) of Bilih fish is negative allometrict with value of B is 2.870 male and 2.868 female. The comparison of male and female is 1:2.427. Factor condition of Bilih fish shows 0.930 male and 0.942 female which means that the body of fish is bony or less fat.Keyword : Growth, Bilih fish resources, Mystacoleucus padangensis Bleeker, Aek Alian River

Abstract

Goldfish is the most desirable ornamental. The market demand required intensive cultivation. Intensive cultivation can be done by optimizing stocking density. This study aims to determine the effect of stocking density on survival and growth rate of goldfish (Carassius auratus) as well as to determine the maximum stocking density goldfish with an average length 4,16 cm and average weight 1,84 grams. The experimental design used was Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three treatments is stocking density 1 fish / liter (P1), 2 fish / liter (P2), and 3 fish / liter (P3) and repeated 3 times. Treatment P1 shows the growth rate of weight daily and length growth rate that equal to the best daily is 2,75% and 0,87%. Stocking density significantly affect the growth rate of the long and weight growth rate daily but did not significantly affect survival. DMRT furthertest results indicate treatments P3 is significantly different from P1.Keywords: Carassius auratus, Goldfish, Growth Rate, Stocking Density, Survival Rate.

Abstract

Black ghost fish is a fish which is good economic value, both in the national and international scope. Market demand for the black ghost fish high, so it requires an effort to fulfill consumer demand for the black ghost fish. One of the efforts is to giving stimulation with thyroxine hormone into the commercial feed which is used for the growth of the black ghost fish. This research aims to determine the optimum dose of decent used for the growth and survival of black ghost fish optimally. The tested fish used are black ghost fish size of 6 cm which is maintained in an aquarium sized 60 cm×40 cm×40 cm by 13 units with water volume 24 liters per aquarium arranged randomly. The design which is used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with doses of without treatment, 10 mg/kg, 15 mg/kg, 20 mg/kg and 25 mg/kg. The results showed that the optimum dose which is good for the growth and survival of black ghost fish is 25 mg/kg, which is 4.36 cm long growing from the initial length and weight growth of 4.96 g of initial weight. Keywords: Black Ghost, Thyroxine, Growth, Survival Rate
