Abstract

Bacterial infections and drug resistance constitute significant health issues in Indonesia. The general lack of awareness regarding the proper use of antibiotics is one of the main causes. Therefore, the Community Service team from the Health Analyst Study Program conducted an activity titled "Education and Dissemination of Moringa Research Results as a Herbal Antibacterial and Training on Making Moringa Tea for Villagers." This activity aims to increase public knowledge and skills about the prevention and treatment of bacterial diseases using moringa herbal medicine. The methods employed for this activity include seminars and training sessions. The seminar discussed the potential of moringa extract as an antibacterial based on the results of the team's research and its wise application. The training discusses how to make moringa tea and its benefits as an alternative treatment. Educational brochures were also distributed to the participants of the activity. The results of the activity indicated that there was an increase in public understanding of moringa as an herbal antibiotic and the wise use of antibiotics, as well as an increase in people's skills in making moringa tea. This activity is expected to have a positive impact on the health of the village community. In addition, this activity is also in line with the concept and supports the achievement of IKU (the main performance indicator of higher education) by providing an off-campus learning experience for students and involving lecturers in community service activities

Abstract

Indonesia's substantial population, coupled with a rapid growth rate, has led to a rise in garbage generation, with the capital city producing 3.1 million tons of waste in 2023, predominantly consisting of organic waste. In 2023, East Jakarta generated the highest trash volume, totaling 844,252 tons annually. This is undoubtedly a responsibility for all stakeholders, from the government level to the family level. One initiative to diminish waste volume involves converting it into new goods, such as eco-enzymes. The community empowerment method, implemented through training, constitutes a public education initiative in waste management aimed at addressing the issue of organic waste. The training occurred in May 2023. The service results indicate that the training on eco-enzyme production in Pinang Ranti Village, aimed at utilizing household organic waste, was successful, yielding orange peel eco-enzyme products. The community exhibited considerable enthusiasm throughout the activities, and participants subsequently felt motivated to process organic waste. This activity is anticipated to be conducted continually and consistently by relevant stakeholders, particularly the government at both national and local levels

Abstract

Irrational drug utilisation has emerged as a global issue, with around 50% of medicationsbeing prescribed, distributed, marketed, and utilised incorrectly by patients. The primaryconcern with the irrational use of medications pertains to the inappropriate application ofantibiotics, which includes unsuitable drug types, incorrect dosages, prolonged administration, and excessive usage in non-bacterial infections. This syndrome induces antibiotic resistance.Individuals frequently use various antibiotics to address non-infectious ailments such ascoughs, influenza, and fevers without a physician's prescription, and these medications arereadily available at certain health institutions that lack comprehension of the requirements. Thisinitiative aims to inform the public about the hazards associated with the incorrect use ofantibiotics. This community outreach initiative involved counselling and video screeningsaround antibiotic usage in DAGUSIBU. We evaluated the activity's success by administeringpretests and distributing posters to the participating community. We determined the overallpercentage of individuals who could accurately answer questions. The data processing resultsindicate a rise in public comprehension and awareness of antibiotic resistance followingcounselling sessions.
