Abstract

The Community Service Program (KKN) in Tanjungrasa Village faces various challenges in managing the Diniyah Miftahul Hidayah educational institution, particularly in terms of infrastructure, teaching staff, and funding. This study aims to analyze the existing issues and formulate strategies to enhance the effectiveness of managing the institution. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed using observation, interviews, and document studies as data collection techniques. The findings indicate that limitations in facilities and infrastructure, a shortage of qualified teaching staff, and insufficient operational funds are the primary obstacles in managing Diniyah Miftahul Hidayah. To address these issues, several strategies can be implemented, including strengthening collaboration with the government and private sector for infrastructure development, providing training programs for educators, and optimizing funding sources through community participation and donors. By implementing these strategies, it is expected that the sustainability and quality of education at Diniyah Miftahul Hidayah will improve significantly.

Abstract

The Umayyad Dynasty in Damascus marked the beginning of Islam’s shift from a democratic caliphate to a hereditary monarchy. This study aims to examine the history, civilizational advancements, and causes of the Umayyad Dynasty's decline in Damascus. The method used is library research, referring to historical texts, articles, and relevant academic sources. Findings reveal significant progress in politics, law, culture, economy, education, and religion during the dynasty’s rule. However, internal issues such as weak leadership, tribal fanaticism, and economic decline led to its fall. This research is crucial for understanding the dynamics of classical Islamic civilization and its relevance to the development of contemporary Islamic politics.

Abstract

Currently, many educational institutions place greater emphasis on the cognitive aspects of the learning process, while human dimensions such as students' emotional and social needs are often neglected. This approach can negatively impact students' mental development. This article discusses the application of Abraham Maslow's theory in the context of Islamic religious education as a more holistic alternative. Maslow's theory, which emphasizes the importance of fulfilling basic needs through to self-actualization, can serve as the foundation for a humanistic approach to the learning process. Using qualitative methods based on a literature review, this article concludes that teachers should act as flexible, creative, and empathetic facilitators. Active and enjoyable learning enables students to integrate religious values into their daily lives. This approach aims to shape individuals who are not only intellectually intelligent but also emotionally and spiritually mature, enabling them to reach their full potential.

Abstract

The community service program "Becoming a Beneficial Person: Character Education for Youth and Society" was implemented to address the declining public understanding of the purpose of life, which is oriented towards the value of usefulness. Modernization, individualism, and the influence of technology have caused adolescents and adults to increasingly distance themselves from the values of caring, empathy, and social responsibility. This community service activity was conducted at the Al-Amanah Mosque in Pilahan, Rejowinangun, Kotagede, using an educational, participatory, and empowerment approach. Implementation methods included interactive lectures, group discussions, consultations, self-reflection, and the formulation of commitments to action. Evaluation was conducted through observation and pre- and post-test questionnaires. The results of the activity showed a significant increase in participants' understanding of the essence of life's purpose; 100% of participants reaffirmed their understanding of the importance of being a beneficial person. Furthermore, 57% of participants acknowledged challenges in behavioral consistency, but all demonstrated a strong commitment to change and contribute positively to their social environment. This activity proved effective in building awareness, strengthening motivation, and revitalizing the mosque's role as a center for character education. This program has the potential to be developed through further mentoring, community collaboration, and the provision of more systematic character education modules.

Abstract

Inclusive education in higher education institutions still faces various challenges, including social stigma, inadequate infrastructure, lack of lecturer competence, unsupportive policies, digital access gaps, and limited psychosocial services. This study aims to analyze the design and implementation of inclusive education development in the Master Program of Islamic Education Management (MPI), Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University (UIN Sunan Kalijaga) Yogyakarta. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with data analysis based on observation, interviews, and document study. The findings reveal that the MPI Study Program has developed an integrated inclusive education ecosystem through: (1) formal policies coordinated with the Disability Service Center (PLD), (2) flexible Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum, (3) adaptive academic and non-academic services, (4) lecturer mentoring and peer buddy system, and (5) internalization of core values including rahmatan lil ‘alamin, equal access, humanistic communication, adaptive mentoring, and sustainable development. Nevertheless, challenges remain, such as uneven policy socialization, limited facilities, and inter-unit coordination gaps. The study concludes that inclusive education in the MPI Study Program has transformed from a normative concept into sustainable operational practice, with the potential to serve as a model for other study programs in Islamic higher education institutions. Strengthening socialization, improving infrastructure, and conducting regular evaluations are key to ensuring the continuity of inclusivity.
