Abstract

Aquaculture waste is material produced by fish or shrimp farming that can pollute aquatic environments if not promptly managed. The solution to solve this problem is to utilize shrimp pond solid waste as organic fertilizer. The shrimp pond solid waste will be used as fertilizer to cultivate Caulerpa lentillifera. Caulerpa lentillifera cultivation has begun to develop in Indonesia because, in addition to being edible fresh, it also contains good nutrition for the body. This study aims to determine the effect of shrimp pond solid waste on protein and chlorophyll levels of Caulerpa lentillifera. This study was conducted with 4 (four) treatments in the form of different doses of shrimp pond waste (0, 2, 4, and 6 g/L) and 3 (three) replications in each treatment. The parameters tested included nutrient, protein, and chlorophyll content, as well as water quality, in Caulerpa lentillifera cultivation. The results obtained from this study are Caulerpa lentillifera is able to utilize the nutrient content in shrimp pond solid waste as fertilizer to add nutrients. Treatment C had the highest effect with protein content (8.27%) and chlorophyll-a (3.46 mg/g), chlorophyll-b (7.41 mg/g); and total chlorophyll (16.08 mg/g) in Caulerpa lentillifera. Based on these data, it can be seen that shrimp pond solid waste can be used as fertilizer in the cultivation of Caulerpa lentillifera.

Abstract

Shrimp diseases caused by Vibrio spp. remain a major constraint in aquaculture, necessitating the exploration of alternative antibacterial agents from natural sources. This study aimed to determine the proportion and antibacterial activity of bacterial isolates derived from the intestines of mantis shrimp. Samples were collected from Jepara, Pemalang, and Cilacap waters using a purposive sampling approach. The research methods included bacterial isolation, morphological characterization, and screening of antivibrio activity. Antibacterial activity was evaluated against Vibrio parahaemolyticus, Vibrio alginolyticus, and Vibrio harveyi using dotting and disc diffusion methods. The results showed that 27% of isolates from Jepara, 44% from Pemalang, and 16% from Cilacap exhibited antivibrio activity. The inhibition zones ranged from 1.1–11.0 mm against V. parahaemolyticus, 3.3–9.0 mm against V. alginolyticus, and 2.2–11.8 mm against V. harveyi. These findings indicate that intestinal bacteria of mantis shrimp from all sampling locations possess antibacterial activity against Vibrio spp., highlighting their potential as promising candidates for the development of biocontrol agents in sustainable aquaculture systems.

Abstract

Tilapia farming is the practice of raising fish from fry to marketable size to meet increasing consumer demand. This study aims to evaluate tilapia farming activities at the Krido Yuwono Panembangan Fish Farming unit. The research methods employed were direct observation and active participation in all farming processes to obtain comprehensive and accurate data. The variables observed included farming stages, fish length and weight, survival rate (SR), specific growth rate (SGR), and feed conversion ratio (FCR). The farming activities consisted of several stages, including pond preparation (drying, liming, fertilization, and water filling), seed stocking, feeding management, and water quality control. The results showed that the survival rate reached 86.67%, indicating a relatively high level of fish survival during the culture period. The specific growth rate was recorded at 1.77% per day, while the feed conversion ratio was 1.35, reflecting efficient feed utilization. Overall, the applied farming practices were effective and supported optimal tilapia production.

Abstract

Optimizing feed utilization is an important strategy in increasing the productivity of Patin Fish (Pangasius sp.) rearing. The addition of multivitamin supplements to feed can increase metabolic efficiency and nutrient utilization, thereby improving fish growth performance. This study aims to evaluate the effects of Nutrinex EnerC supplementation at different doses on the growth performance and feed utilization efficiency of Patin Fish. The study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with three treatments and three replications, namely P1 (0 g/kg feed), P2 (3 g/kg feed), and P3 (6 g/kg feed). Fish were reared in a biofloc system and fed at a feeding rate of 3% of body weight during the maintenance period. The parameters observed included weight growth, length growth, Average Daily Growth (ADG), Specific Growth Rate (SGR), Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR), feed efficiency, and Survival Rate (SR). Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by Tukey's test at a 95% confidence level. The results showed that Nutrinex EnerC supplementation significantly affected weight growth, ADG, SGR, FCR, and feed efficiency (p<0.05), but did not significantly affect length growth and fish survival. The best treatment was obtained at a dose of 6 g/kg feed which resulted in weight growth of 8.87 ± 0.40 g, ADG 0.25 ± 0.01 g/day, SGR 4.84 ± 0.02%/day, FCR 0.54 ± 0.02, and feed efficiency of 186.59 ± 8.50%. The results of this study indicate that Nutrinex EnerC supplementation has the potential to increase feed utilization efficiency and growth performance of Patin Fish in intensive rearing systems.

Abstract

Evapond Bacillus is a liquid probiotic product developed to enhance the health of fish and shrimp. Maintaining its quality can be achieved through encapsulation using coating materials. This study applied an experimental method with three treatments and one replication. The encapsulation material concentration was set at 10% of the liquid volume, with variations in the ratio of maltodextrin and guar gum, namely (70%:30%), (50%:50%), and (60%:40%), each prepared in 100 ml of water. The experiment was conducted for two months to evaluate product stability after encapsulation. The results showed that the combination of maltodextrin and guar gum did not significantly affect the stability of Evapond Bacillus. However, the (60%:40%) ratio demonstrated relatively better performance compared to other treatments. These findings indicate that although the differences were not statistically significant, certain compositions may provide more favorable outcomes. Further studies are recommended using additional or alternative encapsulation materials to obtain more optimal and applicable results.
