Fast in Humanities (FH) is a peer-reviewed academic journal published by the Forum Akademisi dan Dosen Peneliti (FAST), focusing on the dynamic and interdisciplinary field of humanities. Published six times a year in January, March, May, July, September, and November, the journal provides a scholarly platform for critical engagement and innovative research that explores human experiences, cultural expressions, and philosophical reflections across diverse historical and contemporary contexts. The journal welcomes original research articles, conceptual papers, and critical reviews that examine various aspects of humanities including philosophy and ethics, history and historiography, language and literature, religion and theology, the arts, culture and identity, gender and feminist studies, postcolonial and decolonization studies, media and communication, digital humanities, as well as peace, conflict, globalization, and multiculturalism. Abstract

This study aims to assess the potential value of the ornamental plant sector through a financial evaluation approach, with a focus on micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia. The main objective of this study is to evaluate the financial feasibility of ornamental plant projects using key indicators such as Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Payback Period (PP), and Benefit-Cost Ratio (BCR). This study uses a financial analysis method that utilises projected cash flow and operational cost data over a five-year period. The results show that the ornamental plant project has a positive NPV of IDR 196,798,211, an IRR of 59.4%, and a Payback Period of 1 year, 9 months, and 14 days. This analysis confirms that the ornamental plant project is financially feasible for investment, with a fast return on investment and a cost-benefit ratio that indicates high efficiency. In conclusion, this study makes an important contribution to the development of the ornamental plant sector, particularly in the context of MSMEs, and provides useful practical guidance for investment decision-makers in this industry.

Abstract

Rapid social changes in modern societies have far-reaching implications for the system of values, including those embedded in the legal order that once grew organically within traditional communities. This study aims to analyze the transformation of legal values within the interaction between modern and traditional societies through a socio-legal perspective. The socio-legal approach is considered relevant because it reveals the reciprocal relationship between law and social reality, explaining how legal norms are shaped and reinterpreted by social, economic, and cultural change. In the context of modernization and globalization, law has shifted from a communal, value-oriented foundation toward a more rational, formal, and individualistic system. Nevertheless, traditional values such as deliberation, mutual cooperation, social justice, and moral balance remain vital for maintaining social cohesion. In Indonesia, the coexistence of customary law, religious law, and state law illustrates the dynamic negotiation of values between the past and the present. This interaction shows that modernity does not eliminate tradition but rather demands continuous adaptation, reinterpretation, and integration of values. Thus, the transformation of legal values is not a process of substitution but a dialectic between continuity and change. The findings of this study are expected to contribute conceptually to the development of socio-legal studies in Indonesia and offer a critical reflection for policymakers in formulating an inclusive, contextual, and socially just legal system that meets the evolving needs of modern society.

Abstract

Effective interpersonal communication is essential to the functioning of student-led organizations, which depend on voluntary participation and strong internal cohesion. This study examines how communication failures influence interpersonal dynamics within the Media and Communication Division (Medkom) of HIMAKOM UAD, a unit responsible for managing the organization’s public communication and social media presence. Despite its strategic role, Medkom experienced sustained communication breakdowns that disrupted collaboration and weakened member relationships. Using a descriptive qualitative approach supported by organizational ethnography, the research draws on complete participant observations and in-depth interviews with eight informants, including division members, HRD representatives, and HIMAKOM leadership. Findings show that communication failure in Medkom stemmed from three interrelated factors: the absence of early team bonding and shared expectations, limited leadership involvement in facilitating interaction, and misaligned perceptions of responsibility. These issues generated mistrust, interpersonal tension, and emotional withdrawal, preventing the division from developing effective group processes. As a result, productivity declined, content output became inconsistent, and member motivation weakened. The study underscores the need for intentional team-building, empathetic leadership communication, and ongoing conflict management in student organizations. It provides practical insights for strengthening interpersonal communication and enhancing organizational performance within Medkom and comparable student-based divisions.
