Abstract

This research aims to describe the user perception, specifically of students at State Vocational High School 1 (SMK Negeri 1) Kuta Selatan, regarding the availability and quality of the textbook collection in the school library. The research utilizes a quantitative descriptive method with a survey approach, where primary data was collected through a Likert scale questionnaire from 45 respondents. Data analysis resulted in findings that the overall user perception of the collection falls into the Good category (Availability 3.92; Quality 4.09). For the Collection Availability variable, the library's main strength lies in the Accessibility dimension (4.37), which achieved the Very Good category, indicating effective arrangement and signage. However, the total score for this variable is held back by the Quantity and Title Completeness dimension (3.71), which suggests room for improvement in the aspect of the number of mandatory textbook copies. Meanwhile, the Collection Quality variable was consistently rated Good, supported by high scores in Physical Condition (4.18) and Content Currency (4.00). The conclusion of the study indicates that the library has excelled in the physical and substantive aspects of its collection, but needs to focus improvement efforts on increasing the stock of textbooks to optimize user satisfaction.

Abstract

One service that the Library and Archives Service of West Nusa Tenggara Province offers is mobile library services. These help make reading and information sources more accessible to the public, particularly in places that don't have permanent library services. People, particularly those living in rural or otherwise inaccessible locations, now have easier access to the information resources they need thanks to mobile library services. Interviews and participant observation of librarians and patrons serve as the data gathering tools for this qualitative research. The study's findings show that the community has made good use of the mobile library services. The presence of mobile library services has a positive impact, and this service increases the community's interest in reading. The service provides adequate facilities and a varied collection of books, and it also presents various supporting activities. The service is open to various groups without limiting age. Research conducted in the West Nusa Tenggara Province demonstrates the significant significance that mobile library services have in promoting literacy among the local population.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Digital transformation is often understood as an expansion of the public sphere that is democratic and emancipatory, enabling individuals to participate on equal terms without being constrained by conventional social hierarchies. However, this article advances a sociological critique of this assumption by demonstrating that digital space is not neutral, but rather operates as a social field that reproduces existing power relations and social inequalities. The central focus of this article is to explain how women and children are socially produced as vulnerable groups within digital spaces through mechanisms of symbolic violence that function latently and are socially legitimized. Employing a qualitative approach through a literature-based study, this article examines recent scholarship on online gender-based violence, children’s vulnerability within digital ecosystems, and the interrelations between technology, patriarchal culture, and structures of power. The analysis reveals that the vulnerability of women and children does not stem from biological differences, but from society’s failure to understand gender as a social construction distinct from sex as a biological condition. This conceptual misrecognition leads to the naturalization of subordination, the justification of control over women’s bodies and expressions, and the delegitimization of children’s experiences of violence. Drawing on Pierre Bourdieu’s theoretical framework, digital space is conceptualized as a social field in which symbolic capital is unequally distributed, while patriarchal habitus and gendered doxa shape social acceptance of such inequalities. Symbolic violence operates through language, representation, algorithms, and interactional norms that constrain the agency of subordinate groups without overt coercion. This article argues that digital literacy approaches that focus solely on individual responsibility risk reinforcing symbolic domination. Therefore, a critical sociological perspective is necessary to dismantle the illusion of digital emancipation and to reclaim digital space as an arena of equitable social participation.
