Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of using online educational games in improving the grammar skills of eleventh-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Gunungsari. Grammar-related problems often become obstacles in learning English, particularly in aspects of sentence structure and the use of tenses. Innovation in teaching methods through digital media such as educational games is believed to enhance students’ motivation and understanding of grammar materials in a more interactive and enjoyable way. This study employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample consisted of two classes: an experimental class that used online educational games and a control class that applied conventional teaching methods. The research instrument was a grammar test administered before and after the treatment. The results of the data analysis showed a significant improvement in the posttest scores of students in the experimental class compared to those in the control class, with a significance value of < 0.05. These findings indicate that the use of online educational games effectively improves students’ grammar skills. Therefore, the implementation of interactive digital learning media can serve as a strategic alternative in the English learning process at the senior high school level. This study also recommends the development and integration of educational games into the curriculum as an innovative effort to enhance students’ language competence.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of group counseling services in reducing students’ academic anxiety at SMP Negeri 2 Praya. Academic anxiety is one of the psychological problems frequently experienced by students, especially when facing examinations or other academic pressures, which negatively affect motivation, concentration, and academic achievement. This research employed a quantitative approach using a pretest–posttest experimental group design. The research subjects were 10 eighth-grade students selected through purposive sampling based on the identification of high levels of academic anxiety. The instrument used was an academic anxiety scale that had been tested for validity and reliability. Group counseling services were conducted in six sessions using a humanistic approach, focusing on increasing self-awareness, emotional regulation, and adaptive coping strategies. Data analysis using the Wilcoxon test indicated a significant decrease in academic anxiety levels after participating in group counseling services (p < 0.05). These findings suggest that group counseling is effective in helping students overcome academic anxiety. This study recommends that school guidance and counseling teachers actively implement group counseling services as both preventive and curative efforts to address students’ psychological problems, particularly academic anxiety. The implications of these results are important for the development of guidance and counseling programs that are responsive to students’ emotional and academic needs at the junior high school level.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students’ science process skills in experiment-based learning at SMP Negeri 1 Gunungsari. Science process skills are fundamental abilities that include observation, classification, data interpretation, prediction, and scientific communication, which are essential in science learning to build conceptual understanding and critical thinking skills. The research method employed was a quantitative descriptive approach with a case study design. The subjects of this study were eighth-grade students who participated in science learning through an experimental approach. The instruments used included an observation sheet of science process skills and student worksheets (LKS) designed to facilitate exploration, experimentation, and reflection. The results of the study indicate that most students showed improvement in the aspects of observation and data interpretation after participating in experiment-based learning. The aspects of scientific communication and prediction also improved, although the enhancement was not evenly distributed among all students. Factors supporting the development of science process skills included students’ active involvement in the experimental process, structured teacher guidance, and the use of relevant tools and materials. This study concludes that experiment-based learning has a significant contribution to the development of students’ science process skills. It is recommended that teachers systematically and continuously integrate experimental approaches into science instruction.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of using video tutorials on the mastery of basic soccer techniques among students at SMP Negeri 1 Gerung. The basic techniques examined include dribbling, passing, shooting, and ball control. The research method employed was a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group format. The research sample consisted of 60 students who were randomly divided into two groups: the experimental group, which used video tutorials as a learning medium, and the control group, which applied conventional methods without media assistance. Data were collected through observation and skill tests on basic soccer techniques that had been validated by experts. The results of data analysis using the t-test revealed a significant difference between the posttest mean scores of the two groups. The experimental group demonstrated a greater improvement in mastering basic soccer techniques compared to the control group. This finding indicates that the use of video tutorials has a positive impact on improving students’ understanding and practical skills in soccer techniques. In addition, video tutorials were considered effective in enhancing learning motivation and accelerating the learning process, as they provide clear visualizations of movements that can be replayed according to students’ needs. Therefore, video tutorials can serve as an innovative alternative learning medium in physical education.

Abstract

The development of fine motor skills in early childhood is a crucial aspect in supporting children’s learning readiness and independence in daily activities. The role of teachers as facilitators, motivators, and guides plays a significant part in stimulating fine motor skills through structured and enjoyable activities. This study aims to describe the role of teachers in stimulating the fine motor development of children at PAUD Permata Hati Gunungsari. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach. The research subjects consisted of three teachers and twelve children aged 4–5 years. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation of learning activities. The findings indicate that teachers actively design and implement various activities involving hand movements and hand–eye coordination, such as bead stringing, cutting, picture matching, playing with modeling clay, and paper folding. Teachers also provide individual guidance and create a pleasant and safe learning environment for children. The strategies applied by teachers have proven effective in stimulating children’s perseverance, focus, and manipulative skills. The study concludes that active and creative teacher involvement in stimulation activities significantly contributes to the development of children’s fine motor skills. Therefore, teacher training in developing fine motor activities needs to be continuously enhanced to optimally support children’s growth and development.
