Abstract

This research evaluates the Critical Path Method (CPM) and the Program Evaluation and Review Technique (PERT) to determine the most efficient scheduling method for the development of an information system at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Pakuan. The system aims to consolidate work unit information and assist faculty leaders in decision-making. Both methods identified the same critical path (A-B-C-E-G-H), ensuring focus on activities critical to project completion. The CPM method estimated a project duration of 50 days, while the PERT method estimated 52 days. The two-day difference reflects CPM’s deterministic and optimistic approach, making it suitable for projects with predictable timelines. PERT, with its probabilistic calculations, incorporates activity duration variations and risks, providing more conservative estimates for projects with higher uncertainty. Due to its shorter duration and potential cost savings, the CPM method is recommended for the Faculty's information system development project. This research emphasizes the importance of selecting a scheduling method aligned with project complexity and uncertainty.

Abstract

The number of sharia insurance products has been steadily increasing over the past few decades. According to some research, this rise is expected to reach 15–20%. Tabarru funds, which are gathered funds intended to support one another without payment, should be included in the sharia insurance policy. This fund is supposedly gathered to cover the insured person's claim. Additionally, sharia insurance providers provide unit-linked sharia insurance, which was first made available by traditional insurance providers. This paper explains the operation of unit-linked sharia insurance. We examine this product that is offered by many companies. We develop a mathematical model to compute the unit-linked product's tabarru fund and simulate a few scenarios. The outcome shows that some ujrah (fees), such as these for acquisition, administration, risk management, investment management, and fund transfers, are deducted from the contribution that was paid. The simulations involving a subject who lives to be 99 years old and dies at specific ages reveal differences in the quantity of tabarru funds gathered from the products under observation. The tabarru funds collected in products A and B are IDR 110.040.000 and 9.072.000, respectively. This amount is not enough to cover the promised claims.

Abstract

Sign Language recognition remains a significant challenge due to variations in hand gestures, occlusions, and environmental factors. This study introduces a YOLOv7-based sign language recognition system designed to interpret American Sign Language (ASL) images into text in real time, enhancing communication accessibility for individuals with hearing and speech impairments. The primary objectives are to develop an accurate detection model, improve real-time gesture interpretation, and optimize system performance for accessibility. The study follows the CRISP-DM (Cross-Industry Standard Process for Data Mining) methodology, including data collection, preprocessing, model training, evaluation, and deployment. The system was developed using YOLOv7, Python, and OpenCV, with an ASL dataset sourced from Roboflow and formatted in YOLOv7 PyTorch. Image preprocessing techniques such as normalization, resizing, and data augmentation were applied to enhance detection accuracy. The application integrates a real-time gesture recognition system, where detected ASL signs are instantly translated into text. Results demonstrate high detection accuracy for most ASL letters, but certain gestures such as J, Z, S, and T posed challenges due to similar hand shapes and motion-based characteristics. Optimization efforts included dataset expansion, refined annotations, and hyperparameter tuning to improve model precision. The system significantly enhances real-time ASL recognition, offering a scalable, AI-powered assistive tool for the deaf and hard of hearing community. This research contributes to machine learning-driven accessibility solutions, bridging the communication gap between sign language users and non-signers.

Abstract

Solar panels are the main component of a solar power generation system, converting sunlight into electrical energy. This study develops a solar cell monitoring method to collect output data in a specific text format and uses solar cell modules to maximize the efficiency of solar energy absorption that moves from east to west throughout the day. The solar panel tracking system uses the Raspberry Pi 4 as the central controller to follow the sun's movement. It is supported by LDR sensors to detect light intensity and move the panel according to the direction of light. In addition, the BH1750 and BME280 sensors are used to measure additional factors, such as temperature, wind pressure, humidity, light intensity, and light angle, that also affect the panels' power production. The collected data is processed using fuzzy logic to convert the exact values from the sensor into fuzzy data, allowing for more precise control in panel position optimization. The results showed that the system can improve the efficiency of solar energy absorption, with an optimal intensity level of 53,999.99 lux in very bright conditions and a fuzzy-lux difference of 1.1%, which is lower than previous research, indicating that the system is more efficient and supports accurate real-time monitoring.

Abstract

Food distribution and the food supply chain are major issues in achieving food security in Indonesia. Geographical disparities, poor transportation systems, and social differences in Indonesia cause high complexity challenges in implementing a perfect distribution system that suits Indonesia's characteristics. The objective of this study is to build an application for a food distribution using a Geographic Information System (GIS) that can be implemented in Indonesia. The research method is the SDLC (System Development Life Cycle) approach with a Prototyping Model. The data collected consisted of spatial data in the form of Indonesian maps with the provinces as the mapping unit, and each province has a capital city that acts as a center point for food distribution. Attribute data consisted of province’s profiles, food productivity for each commodity, food supply, food sources and food exports. GIS can visualize all data layers into maps that are easier to analyze. Indonesia consists of 38 provinces spread across many islands, and each has its specific geographic profiles and transportation problems. Building a food distribution application is part of developing a food distribution system that produces a system prototype. The prototyping approach is used to evaluate the results of the GIS design by analyzing the features of food distribution in Indonesia. The result of this study is an application that can be implemented into a food distribution system that can create stable food security in Indonesia for all provinces.
