Abstract

Digital education transformation in Indonesia is progressing rapidly but remains plagued by disparities in access between urban and rural areas, particularly the 3T (United Territories) that face limitations in infrastructure, devices, and digital literacy. This study aims to analyze the general picture of digital education access, identify the factors causing the disparity, and assess its impact and strategies for addressing it on equitable distribution of national education quality. The approach used is descriptive qualitative through literature review and content analysis of official government reports, statistical data, and scientific articles from 2017–2025 relevant to the issues of educational digitalization, the urban-rural gap, and the Merdeka Belajar policy. The results show that the expansion of ICT infrastructure, the Digitalization of Learning program, and various public-private partnerships have increased access to and utilization of technology in many educational institutions. However, disparities in internet access, device ownership, and teacher-student digital competency remain high in 3T (United Territories) regions, impacting the quality of learning, the achievement of 21st-century competencies, and the socioeconomic opportunities of students. Research emphasizes the importance of a systemic approach that integrates infrastructure strengthening, digital literacy enhancement, and multistakeholder governance and collaboration to ensure digital education transformation truly promotes equity in education in Indonesia.

Abstract

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the Education 4.0 era has encouraged educational institutions to integrate this technology into the learning process, but it has also raised new issues related to academic ethics and student honesty. Research shows that students are increasingly using AI to prepare assignments, answer questions, and produce academic work, potentially strengthening or weakening academic integrity depending on how it is used. This study aims to analyze the impact of AI use on student academic ethics and honesty, and to examine the role of schools and teachers in guiding the ethical use of AI. The method used was descriptive qualitative research, with data collection techniques through indepth interviews, observations, and documentation studies of students, teachers, and school policies related to AI use. The results show that AI has a positive impact in terms of improving conceptual understanding, efficiency, and independence in learning, and supporting integrity through plagiarism detection systems. However, on the other hand, AI is also being used as a means of academic cheating, such as AI-based plagiarism and submitting assignments without student intellectual involvement. This study confirms that clear school policies, the integration of character education and digital ethics, and consistent teacher guidance are key factors in ensuring AI functions as a learning partner that strengthens students' academic ethics and honesty.

Abstract

The Independent Curriculum (Curriculum Merdeka) is asolution to the needs of 21st-century education, which demands students develop critical, creative, collaborative, and characterbuilding skills. This curriculum is designed to improve the quality of learning through a student-centered approach, differentiated learning, and strengthening the Pancasila Student Profile. This study aims to identify the challenges of implementing the Independent Curriculum in improving the quality of learning in educational institutions. The method used is a descriptive qualitative approach using documentation studies of research findings, scientific articles, and relevant educational policies. Data analysis was conducted using content analysis techniques to uncover key themes related to learning quality indicators, implementation obstacles, and their impact on educational quality. The results indicate that the implementation of the Independent Curriculum has significant potential to improve student engagement, creativity, and character. However, various challenges such as limited teacher understanding, disparities in infrastructure, and minimal policy support have resulted in suboptimal implementation. Therefore, it is necessary to improve teacher competency, provide equitable educational facilities, and adapt school management so that the Independent Curriculum caneffectively improve the quality of learning in Indonesia.

Abstract

The development of digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) has created significant disruption in education, particularly to the traditional role of teachers as information centers and learning authorities. Teachers are now required to adapt to the shifting learning paradigm toward a learner-centered model and to utilize intelligent technology creatively and ethically. This study aims to describe the transformation of teachers' roles, analyze the challenges arising from AI-based technological disruption, and formulate professional adaptation strategies for teachers to maintain a balance between technology and human values. The research method used is library research with a qualitative-descriptive approach through the analysis of various scientific literature and educational policy documents for the 2020–2025 period. The results indicate that the transformation of teachers' roles includes functions as facilitators, mentors, digital learning designers, and AI pedagogical architects. Key challenges faced include technological competency gaps, resistance to change, and issues of ethics and data privacy. Adaptive strategies include improving digital literacy, developing blended and personalized learning models, and strengthening the humanistic dimension and character of students. Teachers remain central to ensuring that AI becomes a means to humanize the learning process, not replace it.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the global education system, including in Indonesia, with the emergence of the phenomenon of learning loss, which has led to a decline in academic achievement and a widening educational gap. During distance learning, limited access to technology, low digital literacy, and socioeconomic inequality have worsened the quality of learning and student participation. This study aims to analyze the factors causing post-pandemic learning loss, its impact on the national education system, and the challenges faced in learning recovery efforts. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with a literature study approach through content analysis of various scientific sources and reports from international institutions from 2020–2024. The results indicate that learning loss is caused by structural, pedagogical, and psychosocial factors such as limited online learning tools, low teacher and parental preparedness, and decreased student motivation and mental health. The impacts include decreased learning outcomes, weakened basic skills, emotional disturbances, and widening educational inequality. The main challenges to educational recovery include the heterogeneity of student abilities, the need for curriculum simplification, limited teacher resources, and strengthening socio-emotional support. Recovery efforts require cross-sector collaboration and sustainable policies to mitigate the long-term impact on human resource quality.
