Abstract

Abstract: Persona is a special intellectual property of Jung. According to him, Persona is a social and psychological construction with a specific purpose. Persona is a mask that can be worn by anyone. Carl Jung chose this mask to see how a person plays a role in representing social and cultural stereotypes, instead of accepting oneself. Persona is a mask that someone shows to display another side of themselves so that they can be accepted by society. Nowadays, it is often found in society that individuals show another side of themselves. There are reasons behind all of that, why someone uses their mask. Sometimes, someone uses it for good reasons, but there are also those who use their mask for less desirable reasons. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method, in which the understanding of Persona based on Carl Gustav Jung's theory in explaining another side of a person is described and presented. It also uses the method of reading and watching the drama 'Hello, The Sharpshooter'.

Abstract

Abstract: Language is essential for communication, while music is a form of expression for sharing emotions and psychological states. A song written or performed in Mandarin may have English linguistic features. Code-mixing is a phenomenon that is different from interference and is instead a way for bilingual speakers to communicate a speech act. Code-switching involves the deliberate use of different languages for specific purposes, often within the same conversation. This study aimed to identify the types of code- switching and code-mixing in the lyrics of the XOXO EXO-M (Chinese version) album and to determine their roles. A descriptive method with a qualitative approach was used to analyze the data, which were collected, sorted, recorded, and coded for analysis. The analysis revealed 52 instances of data, comprising 35 occurrences of code-mixing and 17 instances of code-switching in the lyrics of the album.

Abstract

Abstract: The analysis of literary works provides profound insights into human character and experience, while also shedding light on cultural values and social transformations. The research utilizes internet browsing and literature review techniques with data collection, data analysis, and presentation of the analyzed data. The data is analyzed considering David Krech's classification theory of emotions, where the character's emotions are classified based on the theory and connected to the existing conflicts. Through quotes in the film, deep emotional experiences for Jia Xiaoling are depicted. The theory of social emotions and self-awareness can help understand the feeling of embarrassment experienced by Jia. This theory emphasizes the importance of emotional attachment between a child and their mother in shaping the child's emotional development.

Abstract

Abstract: The rise of China in the 21st Century is absolute, inevitable, and has been globally recognized. As the rising power in the international system, China has experienced significant economic growth, military capabilities development, and political involvement in the international setting. This study analyses the presence of China as a new great power is viewed as a threat to the United States’ hegemony, especially in the Asia region. China’s growing power will contest the US dominance in the region and drive the shift of major power both in the Asia region and the world. The study utilises a descriptive qualitative method with secondary data sources that were collected from books, journals, and other relevant resources. The findings from this study are China will continue to rise economically and become more aggressive militarily in dealing with international disputes, especially in the Asia region. Moreover, China has positioned itself as a central player in international stages such as the World Trade Centre (WTO) and the United Nations (UN) Peacekeeping. As a result, this rise is more likely to clash with the US as the sole superpower, and potential conflicts are unavoidable.
