Abstract

This study examines the decline in users of rail transportation services in North Sumatra Province, which decreased by 80% from 2017 to 2021, primarily due to reduced service quality performance. Service quality plays a crucial role in enhancing customer satisfaction and loyalty toward service provider companies. The study employs the SERVQUAL method to analyze the gap between customer expectations and perceptions of service quality provided by Damri rail and bus transportation services. A total of 21 variables were analyzed, consisting of 3 variables in the reliability dimension, 6 in tangibles, 4 in empathy, 4 in assurance, and 4 in responsiveness. The Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) results show satisfaction levels of 59.03% for Damri train users and 65.30% for Damri bus users, both categorized as “fairly satisfied.” The analysis revealed that the largest service quality gap for train users lies in the tangible dimension with a value of –8.8696, and for bus users, also in the tangible dimension with a value of –7.2174. The top priority for service improvement in train services is the comfort and seating area (tangible dimension) with a gap value of –2.3913. Meanwhile, for bus services, the priority improvement variable is the punctuality of departure time (reliability dimension) with a gap value of –3.0000. The findings indicate that tangible and reliability dimensions require significant improvement to enhance overall service quality and customer satisfaction for Damri rail and bus transportation services.

Abstract

The development of digital technology drives the need for more transparent, participatory, and data-driven community administration. However, in many residential communities, administrative management is still carried out manually, fragmented, and lacks knowledge documentation, potentially leading to inefficiency and low community participation. This study aims to design and implement a Smart Community Platform based on data and knowledge management as an appropriate technology to improve administrative transparency and community participation in the Paguyuban Arcadia, G-Land Arcadia area, Bandung Regency. The research method used is a participatory approach and Rapid Application Development (RAD), which includes the stages of needs planning, system design, prototype development, and system implementation and evaluation by involving administrators and residents as users. The results of the study indicate that the implementation of the Smart Community Platform can improve the transparency of administrative information, the efficiency of citizen data management, and the intensity of community participation through e-administration features, digital forums, and data-based information notifications. In addition, the implementation of knowledge management contributes to documenting and distributing community knowledge in a structured manner. The implications of this research show that the integration of digital technology, data, and knowledge management in the context of local communities can be a model for strengthening sustainable and adaptive community governance to digital transformation.

Abstract

Batik Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) play a strategic role in the economy and cultural preservation in Indonesia, yet exhibit varying levels of organizational performance. This heterogeneity demands a more objective and data-driven segmentation approach so that development strategies and policies can be implemented effectively. This study aims to segment Batik SMEs based on organizational performance using the K-Means clustering method. Primary data were obtained through a structured questionnaire survey of 56 Batik SMEs, with organizational performance indicators covering operational and financial performance. All data were normalized using StandardScaler to ensure scale equality between variables. The optimal number of clusters was determined using the Elbow method and the silhouette coefficient. The analysis results showed that a two-cluster configuration was the optimal solution with the highest silhouette coefficient value. The K-Means model resulted in two segments of Batik SMEs with significantly different organizational performance characteristics: SMEs with low organizational performance and SMEs with high organizational performance. Centroid value analysis and cluster visualization confirmed clear cluster separation and a good level of internal homogeneity. These findings indicate that segmenting Batik SMEs based on organizational performance using an unsupervised learning approach is effective in uncovering the structure of performance heterogeneity. This research contributes to providing a data-driven segmentation framework that can be utilized as a tool to support managerial decision-making and policy formulation to sustainably improve the performance and competitiveness of Batik SMEs.

Abstract

The increasing adoption of digital twins in organisational settings has extended their use beyond technical optimisation toward decision support and governance functions. However, existing studies on digital twin-based IT governance largely emphasise technical architectures and performance considerations, while paying limited attention to the philosophical assumptions that shape how these systems represent reality, generate knowledge, and influence decision-making. This paper addresses this gap by examining digital twin-based IT governance through a philosophy-of-science perspective. Drawing on concepts from ontology, epistemology, and scientific modelling, this study conceptualises digital twins as socio-technical artefacts that function simultaneously as models and interventions. The analysis demonstrates that digital twins embed specific assumptions about what constitutes organisational reality, what forms of knowledge are considered valid, and how governance actions are legitimised. These assumptions have direct implications for accountability, transparency, and human agency in IT governance processes. Based on this analysis, the paper articulates design implications for digital twin-based IT governance, highlighting the importance of interpretability, human-in-the-loop mechanisms, reflexive design, and value-sensitive approaches. Rather than offering empirical generalisations, the contribution of this paper is conceptual: it provides a structured analytical framework that clarifies the foundational assumptions underpinning governance-oriented digital twins. The paper concludes by outlining directions for future empirical and design-oriented research aimed at developing digital twin-based governance systems that are not only technologically effective but also epistemically robust and socially responsible

Abstract

Surplus materials generated from textile production processes often remain underutilized due to the lack of integration between manufacturing and retail operations, resulting in idle inventory, unrecorded transactions, and lost sales opportunities. This study aims to improve sales performance and inventory utilization in textile SMEs through the implementation of Odoo ERP with intercompany and e-commerce integration. The study was conducted in a textile SME consisting of a production unit and a retail unit operating under separate business entities. The System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) using the waterfall model was employed to analyze requirements, design the system, configure Odoo modules, and perform functional testing and user acceptance evaluation. The proposed solution enables the automatic generation of intercompany transactions, including Sales Orders, Purchase Orders, and Vendor Bills, while synchronizing inventory, sales, and accounting information in real time. In addition, the e-commerce module provides a digital sales channel for surplus materials that were previously marketed through conventional methods. The results indicate that the integrated system improves transaction traceability, reduces manual data entry, and enhances inventory visibility across business units. Furthermore, the utilization rate of surplus materials increased from 17% prior to implementation to full absorption through the integrated digital channel during the evaluation period, eliminating idle inventory and creating additional economic value. These findings demonstrate that ERP-enabled intercompany integration can support operational efficiency and strengthen sales performance in textile SMEs.

Abstract

This study examines the reliability of backup power supply systems at Politeknik Penerbangan Jayapura, focusing on a 1,000 kVA diesel generator used to support critical loads such as server rooms, emergency lighting, and laboratory facilities. In early 2025, several failures occurred when the generator could not operate due to damage in the starter system, particularly the starter motor, leading to temporary power outages. The research aims to identify the causes of these failures, assess their impact on system reliability, and propose preventive technical measures. A field study with a descriptive comparative approach was conducted through direct observation, technical measurements (battery voltage, starting current, and engine speed), documentation, and interviews with technicians. The findings reveal that the main cause of failure is mechanical damage to the pinion gear due to excessive wear, preventing proper engagement with the flywheel. This issue is worsened by declining battery performance and insufficient preventive maintenance. As a result, the starter motor cannot generate enough torque to start the engine. The study recommends scheduled maintenance, routine inspections, and timely component replacement.

Abstract

The dumpling skin production process at UMKM Rizky Jaya currently faces significant operational challenges, specifically a production bottleneck at the manual cutting station. While noodle production has been automated, dumpling skin cutting relies on manual labor using conventional knives, requiring 7 minutes per 8.5 kg batch. This inefficiency results in physical fatigue for the 26 workers, inconsistent product dimensions, and significant lost sales during peak demand periods where orders reach up to 498 kg/day. This research focuses on the ergonomic design of a dumpling skin cutting tool based on anthropometric measurements to enhance productivity and worker comfort. Data collection involved measuring specific physical dimensions of five operators to ensure the tool’s geometric compatibility with the human body. The primary variables analyzed include shoulder height (average 143.4 cm), standing waist height (average 99.8 cm), and functional forward arm reach (average 77.0 cm). Statistical processing, including data adequacy and uniformity tests, was conducted to establish the 5th percentile as a design limit. The proposed design features a 70 cm high compact frame with a 50x70 cm cutting area, integrating a 5V laser line for visual precision and a neodymium magnet socket system for rapid blade replacement. By aligning the tool dimensions with the 5th percentile reach of 71.18 cm, the design ensures that all operators can function within a normal reach area, thereby minimizing the risk of Low Back Pain and shoulder fatigue. Implementation is projected to reduce cycle times from 7 minutes to under 4 minutes, effectively eliminating the current bottleneck.

Abstract

The rapid development of the industrial sector requires manufacturing companies to manage resources effectively and efficiently, particularly in workforce allocation and working time utilization, in order to maintain productivity and operational performance. This study was conducted at PT XYZ, a stove manufacturing company, with the aim of analyzing employee workload, evaluating the utilization of working time, and determining the optimal number of workers based on production capacity requirements. Based on preliminary observations, several production divisions were found to experience ineffective working time utilization, resulting in workload imbalances and less optimal operational efficiency. This study applies the Workload Analysis (WLA) method supported by stopwatch time study measurements and the Cardiovascular Load (CVL) method to assess both operational and physical workload conditions. The collected data include work element times, number of workers, production output, non-productive time, and workers’ heart rate measurements. The data were processed through normal time and standard time calculations, performance rating determination, allowance calculations, workload analysis, and workforce requirement evaluation. The results show that all workers were classified within the light workload category based on CVL values below 30%, indicating that the physical workload remained within acceptable limits. Furthermore, the WLA results revealed imbalances in several production divisions, particularly welding and assembly, which required workforce adjustments to improve workload distribution and operational efficiency. By implementing appropriate workload management, the company is expected to reduce ineffective working time, improve labor productivity, and enhance overall operational efficiency.

Abstract

UD. Hardi Jaya is a shoe manufacturing enterprise implementing a job order production system, causing fluctuating production demand and workload imbalances across production sections. This study aims to analyze workload and determine optimal workforce requirements using the Work Load Analysis (WLA) method. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and stopwatch time study involving 15 production operators in the cutting, sewing, manual work, sole installation, and packing sections. Data were analyzed using data uniformity and adequacy tests before calculating cycle time, normal time, standard time, and workload values. The results indicate that several operators experienced overload conditions with workload values above 100%, including Sole Installation 1 (114.54%), Sole Installation 2 (109.52%), Cutting 1 (102.85%), and Manual Work operators. The sole installation section was identified as the main production bottleneck with an output capacity of only 68 pairs per day, which was below the production target of 102 pairs per day. Based on WLA calculations, the ideal workforce requirement was 19 workers to achieve the production target of 3,067 pairs per month, compared with the current workforce of 15 workers. However, considering production capacity and labor cost factors, maintaining the existing workforce with an overtime system was considered more economical than recruiting additional workers. The WLA method can support workforce planning, workload balancing, and improved production efficiency.
