Abstract

Ketapang area is one of lower part or southern sub-province of West Kalimanatan Province, which is located geographically between 108o40’ and 111o20’ in Longitude and between 0o20’ and 3o04’ in Latitude. This area has various of industrial mineral resources, for example quartz sand. Quartz sand or also called with white sand is the reasult of rock weathering that contents main mineral, such as quartz, and felsdpar. Then, the result of weathering is cleaned and transported by water or wind and deposited in the stream side, lake or sea. In this paper will be described concerning to locations, characteristics, and usages of quratz sand in Ketapang area, West Kalimantan Province. Based on chemical or laboratory analysis and interpretation, the quartz sands can be used as glass industry, cement industry material, and moulding industry.

Abstract

Kaolin is one of a very important raw material for fine porcelain ceramic production and the kaolin resources can be found in many places in Indonesia. Kaolin characteristic tests which include (chemical, physical, furnace, mineralogy, grain size) showed that the sample 1 and 2 do not meet the standard of porcelainceramic raw material. Fe2O3 concentrations of sample 1 and TiO2 concentrations of sample 2 were below SNI standard. In order to meet the SNI standard for isolator, post processing are required. These can further be important for the development of medium to high voltage isolator industries in Indonesia.

Abstract

The need of iron ore as material for steel industry in 2006 increased, so the are many iron ore mine activity in Kabupaten Tanah Laut, South Kalimantan. There are 25 cooperation contract between Pememerintah Daerah owned Company, PT Baratala Tuntung Pandang, as owner of contract of work for Iron Ore Mine, five companies have contracts of Mining Work and three companies have contracts of expolration work. The iron ore production increased from 115,658.484 MT in 2006 to 445,286 MT. The objectives of study is to delineate the iron mine activities in Kabupaten Tanah Laut, Kalimantan Selatan Province. The small scale mine of Iron ore involved the local people and semi mechanic equipment such back hoe, Bull Dozer, shovel and rock breaker for breake the source rock. Meanwhile there some grizllies to seperate the iron ore based on the size. The size of iron ore are lump ore to fine ore to stockpile. The survey iron ore mine are in Pemalongan, Sumber Mulia (three cooperationcontract) and Sungai Riam (three cooperation contract). The production iron ore of local mine people in the three mine ore location are prized from Rp. 4000,- per pack to Rp. 8000,- per pack. The iron ore quality of a pack id about 40 Kg to 50 Kg, and the quality based on the visual only. The Mine Iron environment quality management should be increased to keep the environment quality under control for the easier reclamation in the closure mine in post mine time.

Abstract

Have been made three glazes which using 2 (two) raw colorantmaterials, oxide of cobalt and copper oxide. In the glaze, copper oxide from 0,1 % to 0,25 % (weight) while oxide of cobalt equal to 0,10 % (weight). Usage of copper oxide which equal to almost 3 (three) times fold in the reality cannot make dominant green color yielded glazes, even color of greenish blue even also cannot be obtained. Color of the glaze is young blue, indicating that oxide of cobalt more effective as colorant than copper oxide The glaze have maturity which enough at firing temperature 1250oC, having value of L = 68,70, a* from -0,05 to - 0,28 and b* = - 0,40. This value show that the glazes have green color spectrum (marked with value of a* negative) and blue (marked with value of b* negative) and also its young color (marked with value of L* high)

Abstract

Mineral Information System (SIM) is an added value and integrated database system for mineral in Indonesia concerning with the availability of mineral resources, which encompasses the entire aspects of mineral commodity such as geology, mining, geography, exploration, exploitation, processing technology,statistics and its developments. The technologies used in the SIM development are appropriate technology, open platform, Visual Programming using Rapid Application Development tools, and Relational Database Management System (RDBMS). The SIM technology enables users to illustrate and display someinformations regarding to mineral resources easily and rapidly, i.e. local governments, investors, or persons who are interested in mining or mineral development. The SIM technology is benefit for decision makers to support a regulation or urban planning. In this paper, it will be described about visualization model of SIM in application desktop form.

Abstract

Steel represents a metallic material which is still dominantly used in the engineering industry and mechanical construction. In order to fulfil the industrial demand, the high quality and mechanical properties of steel has to be always available.It is necessary to conduct a heat-treatment process to identify the improvement of mechanical properties and microstructure of steel JIS G 4051 grade S 45 C .Results of the heat-treatment process indicate that the maximum tensile strength of the investigated steel is 1074 MPa , it is earning from the warm-up temperature 860 °C and the highest hardness of the investigated steel is 579 HV it is earning from the warm-up temperature 920 °C . These results meet to AISI – SAE 1045 or JIS G 4051 grade S 45 C standard.

Abstract

Purification of xilanase result of fermentation from Bacillus stearothermophilus DSM 22 using membrane polyethersulfone and regenerated cellulose, each measuring 30 kD. Variations in pH 4.94, 5.80, 6.60, 7.40, 8.20. Analysis of enzyme activity, protein content and enzyme specific activity carried out on permeate and retentate. This study aimed to learn the best pH condition and the appropriate type of membrane process in the purification method xilanase with ultrafiltrasi. Research of resultsindicate that pH is very influential in the process ultrafiltration xilanase, each membrane has a different characteristic. Purification xilanase best use of ultrafiltration membrane polyethersulfone achieved in the pH 4.94 with a specific activity 13,888 U / mg in the permeate. Purification xilanase best ultrafiltration use of regenerated cellulose membrane at pH 8.20 achieved with specific activity 12397 U / mg in the retentate.

Abstract

Iron ore is one of commodity of metallic mineral that is located in Belitung Barat, Bangka Belitung Province. Existence of iron ore can be detected by applying a technology of geomagnet exploration using a magnetic characteristic of iron ore at study area. In this paper, it will be discussed about application of geomagnet for exploring iron ore at Kacang Botor area. Based on result of Geomagnet measurement and data processing, it can be interpretated that Kacang Botor area has prospect of iron ore (Fe) reserve, where contur of magnetic anomaly has a value of about 500 nT - 4000 nT. In a ddition, it can be predicted that iron ore at this area point to type of vein with direction of its distribution is west – east. This fact is suitable with commonly linement of iron ore deposit in belitung island.

Abstract

System production of small scale flare fabrication has been developed. System consist of three main apparatus ie. ball mill, compactor, and dryer oven. Products of flare have good quality on high performance of burning, long live of storage, and water resistant. Test particle after burning on BATAN laboratory shows that particles diameter range is 1.1 – 5.7 micron. This is the best spectrum of ultra giant nuclei to modifying warm cloud to enhance precipitation. The user of the flare production from this small scale fabrication is UPT Hujan Buatan BPPT, which will use for cloud seeding operasional base on flare device. This effort will strengththening the capability UPT Hujan Buatan on the selfempowerment on cloud seeding device production.
